DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji - Sonaisali Island

Loved the resort, loved the very friendly staff but there was two particular ones who were outstanding, they were Merewarita and Sami. Both excellent to deal with for sure. Food was mostly great, swim up bar was amazing, rooms were comfortable. The buffet style meals at vulani I feel are not worth the money they ask for them, however the Ala cart menu here is excellent and very good value for money and a great variety of food on it. Breakfast was included in our stay, again excellent variety of foods and the fresh fruit is to die for. Very easy to get around the place. Despite maintenance happening while we were staying there it was very quiet place to stay and it's not hard to get back to the mainland and get a taxi to nadi or Denarau of you choose to do that. We did a couple of times and it was easy as.

Tavu bar and grill wouldn't get my money again. Terrible meal there, dry meat when it shouldn't be and it was very expensive. Cleaning team left alot to be desired for room cleaning during our stay, failed to clean our room properly, left dishes everywhere, didn't replenish towels etc. Phoned twice for this to be done during the day and they never did it till after 7:30pm.

Room is very big and facilities are very good. Staff are all very friendly and food is so good. A lot of choices for breakfast buffet. I like the swimming pool.

Transports are not easy and taxi are not budget friendly.

Loved the location of our room (208): central, situated on the ground floor, directly across from the bar and grill, and close the pool, and other restaurant. Loved the patio, and views. Room itself, very clean and comfortable. All the staff members were so friendly, it was so nice they remembered our names! Appreciated the 24hr availability of water transfer to the main island (a 5 min boat ride).

A bit of a distance from Denarau (25 min by car). We decided to eat a buffet meal (“Butchers Night”). We paid $60 per head. Rather disappointed at the lack of choice. Although, the food on offer was superb. Perhaps there was a shortage of staff, nevertheless, I think the resort needs to drop the price for buffet meals, until they can offer a few more dishes (or employ another chef). We felt like we didn’t receive value for money at all. 😒 At the breakfast buffet, there was a good choice of food, but the staff seemed to be slow to replenish the serving bowls. This happened every morning when we’re there. At one stage there were 3 empty at the same time (I think it was bacon, scrambled egg, and hash browns).

We had a relaxing, clean and friendly experience as a family of four with a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old. The staff service was particularly excellent. Their personable, kind, loving, happy, attentive attitude is what we valued the most during our stay in Fiji!!! Especially their love for children. The staff member that stood out the most for us was Anushka, who works at the restaurant. She always went the extra mile to be personable and ensure that we had a comfortable stay. We are very grateful to all staff members for making our trip a success!

A bit expensive

Overall experience was really nice. Just a suggestion to include more variety of vegan/vegetarian food for dinner. The world is changing now and people are moving towards vegan/vegetarian. We really suffered as the vegetarian option was very limited (spaghetti). One can not eat spaghetti all the time :D....rest all was fabulous.

Loved it! Beachfront Bure down the quieter end of the resort - perfect for R&R. If you have travelled a bit, I think this resort is good value for money. The room is a generous size with a great bathroom (choice of shower heads) and a fabulous balcony to laze on. We had free unlimited consistent WIFI - no buffering or connection issues the whole time we were there. This may not be normal however we were not Hilton members. The staff are really friendly and helpful - even all the tourists say it when they see you - happiness goes viral :-) The gardens are gorgeous and it's a large resort so plenty of space for walking or playing. They provide entertainment on different nights - free to watch - we saw fire dancing and traditional Fijian dance which was special as they involve the audience. Food is comparable in cost to what we would pay at home with generous servings. Tip - ask for 'normal fries' or 'potato fries' if you don't like the Cassava fries - they do them on request. We had a special time, made some great memories and would stay there again. Vinaka.

The POOL layout around the Restaurant is Perfect central location to sit down and lookout at the beach, Reception, Gift Shop, Game facilities tie in together with it. The Accomodation Rooms branches left and right along the Peninsula and Swing Hammock Beds and Seating is provided in numerous locations. The Boat across is easy, Quick and 24 HRS. It was good Value, Close to the Airport, Traditional FIJI performers, Variety of Meals. Good for Families.

Not too much to pick on really. More Orange Juice and Ice would have been Better than Pineapple Juice. Banana ad Mangos would also be a great if in Season.

Facility-Quiet, clean, relaxing with Wifi in all areas. There is an ATM at reception. Various in house activities for adults and kids. Wife enjoyed the spa. Food- There are 2 restaurants on site for lunch and dinner. We enjoyed the buffet Fijian night on a Friday with food and entertainment. Staff- Friendly and always accomodating Breakfast- Buffet spread was excellent- huge variety Room- was big, good view of the ocean

Facility- Location not close to main town (30mins). After a few days, if you wanted to do things outside the resort (e.g dining) you have to travel via taxi. Taxis are hard flag down by main entrance and if you organise one by the resort can be up to double the cost. Best to get a taxi drivers number and contact them directly. Dinner- If you don't feel like buffet, you need to book at table for Tavu grill (non-buffet) restaurant to eat before 8pm. Options are limited and service can take time (if you have hungry kids). Room- Dated, poor lighting, could have been cleaner.

the buggy drivers, they were always pleasant and fun to talk to.

some staff were more attentive and friendly to westerners. we all pay with money, same as everyone else. everyone should be treated with the same service and smiles as any other person staying there.

Everything was amazing, but just the island itself was breathtaking. We loved the room, the food (especially breakfast buffet), the pool and most importantly the staff. Literally the best staff ever, we love how welcoming they were 24/7 !!!

Just wish there was more tv channel options, but that’s about the only thing.
