Dorpat Hotel

Very comfortable beds, rooms were interconnected for kids to stay separate, they also had their own bathroom. Decoration amazing, kids were in awe. Staff very welcoming. Good selection for breakfast. Location ideal and parking right next to it. We were able to just leave hotel via connected bridge.

We were a bit surprised at the water in the room being €2 each bottle. A bit steep and compared to other hotels offering it for free, seemed like a rip off. Also no kettle or tea available. Breakfast room very busy and we were struggling to find a table. Although advice near the lifts showed the busiest and least busy times, which is kind of useful. Juice selection was awful. No real juices on offer and those offered were like washed down squash.

The hotel is modern, situated in the walking distance from the city center, next to the big shopping mall. The view from higher rooms is nice. The parking lot is small but at the reasonable price 5 eur per day we could park at the shopping malls parking lot which is connected with the corridor to the hotel what is very convenient. The room was spacious, with comfortable bed. We would appreciate a fridge. Breakfast was various and tasty but the restaurant was very busy with at least 2 big tourist or sports groups.

I always appreciate breakfast in the hotel. This breakfast was generous and additionally had interesting side dishes that were local/traditional. We enjoyed a drink just outside the hotel in the arrival evening; the locals were enjoying live music and it was fun and lively. The location was convenient to walk along the river and to the old town. We were able to park for free (weekend) at the bus depot parking lot. We really enjoyed exploring everywhere in Tartu, especially the two neighborhoods with street art (we found a map to aid in our 'treasure hunt' from the city website). We highly recommend the Meat Market near the main square for starters - toasted garlic bread was to die for. The ethnographic museum was AMAAAAZING - and we would have loved to enjoy an outdoor concert at the festival venue. Walking around the famous cathedral park was lovely. Tartu was my favorite town in Estonia. Oh yes, and the beds were perfectly comfortable.

Nothing to add! Looks impersonal from the outside, didn't eat at the hotel restaurant so no opinion. We were satisfied since we were more interested in exploring the town than the hotel.

The kindness and friendliness of the check in staff. When we complained about the racket & noise of the VERY young kids (we were told basketball players....they looked too young to play that game)running up & down the stairwells on every floor, the halls on every floor and just being jerks, we learned that these kids were on every floor but the 6th. When we first checked in, I asked which floors these kids were assigned and we were told the "first two". Clearly, this was incorrect. We asked about moving to another floor (we were on the 4th) and the hotel desk staffer put us on the 6th, with an upgrade. We were NOT expecting this, but we were quite pleased with the room/view. IF there were chaperones with these kids, they were NOWHERE in sight. I do not know how other guests could have put up with ALL THE NOISE!

See above. Plus, it would have been great if breakfast were included, like the other hotels where we stayed.

Nice that lux category room has the coffee machine, but having kettle would have been useful too. In my floor lived a children sports team that kept running, yelling and playing games in the corridor which disturbed. Taking a contact with the front desk did not bring any results. Such nice for hotel is unacceptable In the hotel restaurant some people wear flipflops and one woman was barefoot. I think a basic dress code would be useful. And yes, June is the "best time" to shut down hotel spa/sauna center...

I'll simply repeat my previous review because I'm lazy: Let's start with the location: by the river, quite central with three big malls close to it, just slightly off from the main bar/restaurant street but still within ok walking distance. Room was spacious, clean, and fairly comfortable. I stayed there during hot summerdays so I was very happy about the efficient a/c. Breakfast was ok, standard buffet spread plus some extra yummies, some variation. Staff was of mixed quality; some clearly trained professionals, politely competent, others new but enthusiastically helpful, and a few who couldn't be bothered. That's life!

This part is not a repeat of my previous review, but an explanation of why there are two reviews: I had from the beginning booked a three-night stay, but decided later on to prolong this due to recommendations about Tartu being a very interesting and fun city. So I tried via Booking to add three nights at this hotel. Nope, no room available. Ok, then I searched Booking for rooms in Tartu these extra three nights, and I was astonished to find that now this hotel had the very same kind of room available these extra nights! So I booked it this way. So after three nights the hotel forced me to check out, and then three hours later check in again to another room of the very same kind as my first. It felt like a joke...

Check in was fast forward and check out was even more so. The staff were friendly and the room was quite nice and comfortable. There was plenty of space to do daily activities and the view from the window was really pleasant especially at sunset.

Other people’s hotel room doors slamming is very audible and wasn’t very pleasant to wake up to at 12 am. This is more of a structural complaint, than one of the hotel’s service. Bonus nitpick would be the soap in the bathrooms, the shampoo based soap was impossible to wash off in the sink.

Great location just outside of the old town, with great access to public transportation, restaurants, grocery stores, and not far from a laundromat. The hotel's breakfast is very nice with a nice selection of food and a large, clean eating area. The hotel has a nice bar in the lobby as well. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

The room was just okay. It was fine, but could have been better. The AC worked, but was very slow to cool the room. The beds were reasonably comfortable, but it would have been nice to have a hot water kettle in the room.

This is a pretty average hotel in a perpetually busy, brash commercial bit of the centre. Very central it is connected by a bridge to the multi-storey car park of the adjoining shopping mall.

The reception's colour scheme was red and black, with the emphasis mainly on the black. The reception staff were busy and harassed and lacking charm. The restaurant had been booked for a function and was unavailable for guests. The breakfast area was too small for the number of guests and was chaotic. The carpet in the room and the corridors was brown with yellowish spots. There are no numbers on the doors, the number is shown on the carpet in front of the door. You could do worse - they could do better.

Everything is great! The staff is very friendly and helpful!

As it is summer time, then noisy music was coming from the side of the building that faces the outdoor market and the outdoor cafes behind the hotel When I complained about it at the reception, I was kindly offered to get an upgrade. I paid for the upgrade and got a really nice premium room - quiet, and very nice indeed! Nex time I will book premium from the start. The staff and the hotek is really great! Thank you!
