Hotel Cultura Plaza

The staff is wonderful, and I am not exaggerating. They always have a great smile and treat you great. We arrived before our "check in" time, and they have a safe room to leave everything there and you can start your day in San Jose right there and then. The hotel is great and located in a great place close to supermarkets and everything that you may need. Regarding our room was big enough for the both of us and that is what we wanted because we were there for a couple days before leaving. Breakfast was delicious and they have their little cozy and warm cafeteria that opens until 6. (Note: their cakes were delicious.) We also noticed that they have contacts for tours and their prices are reasonable. Thanks Cultura Plaza for a wonderful 2 day stay!!! See you soon. Pura Vida!!!!!

In the room where we were we could hear a lot from the lobby. Like an echo. There was an opening (nothing dangerous just the way the building was built and it could be seen only if you put yourself in the lobby under it) between the second floor (where we were) and the lobby. People sometimes get excited talking about their tours and experiences, and we got to hear an echo. The good thing is that around 10pm it was gone. Ask for a room on a different floor or different from under the lobby. Otherwise the hotel is Great!!!!!!!!

The location of this Hotel is fantastic! It's in the central location to all major sites around San Jose and easily walkable and accessible to restaurants, markets, museums etc. ATMs and supermarkets were close by as well for any errands or last minute items. PLENTY of cafes or coffee shops around the area too! I got a free breakfast during my stay and it was a really tasty and delicious breakfast that was very filling and freshly made. Staff were friendly and helpful during my check in and check out process, a true Costa Rican hospitality! I was also able to store my luggage securely at the hotel after check out so I can enjoy a free walking tour that is hosted not far away from the hotel. (Fun fact: The hotel is right across the street from an original movie theater in San Jose and down the block from another famous building owned by a coffee plantation mogul!) As for the room, it was clean, spacious for a solo traveler and had everything I needed from hairdryer, toiletries, towels, TV/entertainment and a mini refrigerator. The bed was comfortable and cozy so I was very well rested from a long travel day.

The room doesn't have a closet or hangers to put clothing or my luggage so I had to leave things on the ground. I didn't have a window in my room, but it didn't make a difference for me, but may make a difference for someone else.

Let me start by saying this: Yes, there is some noise- it's a city center!! Yes, there are some odd characters- it's a city!! But, it was a great experience. Here's why: When we arrived, the receptionist was wonderful and attentive, providing us the necessary information: very smooth check-in overall. The room was clean and well put together, albeit a bit small, but it's a city! Shower worked well and had hot water. The breakfast was delicious and served with kindness, coffee and juice. I was going on a very early tour and they offered me sandwiches to go because I would leave before breakfast time, thus being very accommodating. They even called my room to say the tour guide was there to get me. I would definitely recommend to my friends and will be back next time I land in San Jose.

The room was too close to reception, so you could hear every phone call, conversation and movement below There was no safety deposit box which I felt a little uneasy about given the proximity to the stairs by the main door The room was quite dusty with a packet of crisps under the bed (I check before leaving in case I dropped anything) and one day, my room wasn't cleaned properly, the toilet paper was left in the wrapper and a wet cloth left beside the bed, which was as I had left it A shame really as my previous stays were far better

Excellent location, right in the center of San Jose, within a short walk for many of the city's tourist spots. Room was clean, toilet facilities newly built and comfortable beds. Staff was kind and helpful, they helped me to organize a surprise to my wife and easily booked their transfer service to the airport in my departure day. Breakfast was also delicious.

The electrical sockets in room had USB inputs but were in unstable conditions, it caused me a little difficulty as I was only able to charge one device at a time. Other point that can be improved is the size of the Breakfast area, which does not have many tables available and may cause you to wait a little to get seated if many guests happen to use it at the same time.

Very close to Central Avenue, and a very quick walk to most tourist spots. The front desk were always helpful and very friendly.

Some of the rooms have windows that connect to the kitchen which made it impossibly noisy and the smells from the kitchen waft in easily. When asked to change rooms the front desk happily assisted us with another room, warning us it would be smaller, which we agreed to. This room had no windows at all, and no ventilation from the shower so the room got stuffy easily. Despite this, everything was perfect and reasonably priced, especially for the location.

The location is absolutely perfect easy walk to everywhere. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is super clean…and the bed was awesome… this is a good safe hotel. I would recommend it any day John S Calgary.

this really isn’t about the property. It’s about a little hiccup with the reservation on Booking.com I booked a junior suite only to find out that that particular suite doesn’t have a window. However, this was corrected, but I got to the hotel.

After seeing very mixed reviews on booking.com, I was pleasantly surprised to be met by José who spoke great English and made us feel very welcome. The hotel was clean, modern and the room was huge with comfortable beds, clean bathroom, air con and a TV. We had to leave before breakfast so the hotel made us a sandwich and gave coffee and juice pre departure.

There were no windows which didn’t actually matter because we were only staying one night (arrived late, left early) and it’s very noisy from other rooms and outside. If you’re only stopping over for one night before going to your next destination it’s good value for money.

The location is very central, right nearby the National Theatre, museums and shops. Staff is super friendly and supported with everything, good stay in-between trips within the country.

Although central, the area is highly populated at night with homeless people, which may scare some lone travelers. After staying here, I moved to the gourmet part of the city and I could really feel the difference in community and nearby places. If it's not an in-between sleeping location, not worth the stay in San Jose.

The staff are great, really friendly, it is comfortable and safe with a good breakfast as well I loved the room, I personally preferred it to the bigger room I stayed in before The hotel is on a side street, adjacent to the main plaza so you can hear the sounds of the street below, the morning train in the distance and the crossing beeping every few minutes - whilst it is nice to hear the birds and people doing there thing, it might keep a light sleeper awake so they would be better with a windowless room I stay in San Jose regularly and will be staying here again
