Hotel Heliconias Nature Inn & Hot Springs

The location is beautiful, set in the countryside, in the rainforest. There are sloths, toucans, hummingbirds and dozens of other bird species. The staff are amazing, all really helpful and friendly. The pool is lovely, and the breakfast and restaurant food is delicious.

Loved the uniqueness of the place, tropical, family owned, off the beaten path, more isolated and gave you the tropical quiet feel. Bungalows were modest but perfect for what we needed. The property is very spread out and they have golf carts to take you around.

A bit hard to find as first timers to the area. Outside of la fortuna by at least 30 minutes so if you want to be where the action is downtown plan accordingly. That was not our intent so it didn’t impact us at all. Their website did not have enough descriptions about their facility. I think if it did they would have more people coming. Maybe that is their intent?? We loved our hidden treasure anyways.

Fantastic staff who treated us like family. It was a fun, easy stay at a unique property at a cost that is hard to beat. People have voiced complaints about the restaurant. I think many people might have expectations that are out of place when visiting a small, family-run establishment like this. Think about it more like a quirky B&B rather than a "resort" and you'll have a much better time!

We visited during a pandemic, so naturally there were some things that were not open or were not fully operational. I wouldn't hold this against anyone.

Fabulous location. The lodges are perfectly located to provide close-up views of the abundant wildlife from the balcony. Many varieties of birds, including toucans and even sloths can be found in the grounds. Breakfast was included and was excellent. The is a heated swimming pool located in the lovely gardens. The facility is family owned. They make you feel right at home and are always helpful. If you want accommodation away from a busy town, Heleconias Nature Inn provides a unique experience.

Nothing much. It is a 30 minute drive to La Fortuna which has many restaurants but we knew that before we booked. You can eat at the onsite restaurant but be advised it is fairly expensive.

The breakfast included was very good. The on site restaurant was beautiful and also had great food. The in room coffee, fridge, blow dryer and other room amenities made it so comfortable. The grounds were beautiful, well maintained, and so peaceful! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. It is run by family and they make you part of it!! The location was out a little, but worth the drive. We would definitely go back. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

My stay at this hotel was simply wonderful. This place is an incredible oasis of nature, surrounded by lush vegetation and breathtaking landscapes. The attention I received from the family managing the hotel was exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I felt at home, and their warmth and kindness made my experience even more special. The hotel's restaurant was a true delight. I had the pleasure of trying one of the best cuts of meat I have ever tasted. Each bite was a burst of flavors, and the quality of the food exceeded all my expectations. Although my stay was only for a day, I was captivated and would love to return soon. The property itself is beautiful, with impeccable maintenance. Furthermore, the owners informed me that hot springs will be available soon, which will undoubtedly be a fantastic addition for my next visit. One of the highlights for me was the variety of animals and birds that can be observed in the surroundings. I even had the luck to see sloths, which was an unforgettable experience. The walking trails allowed me to explore nature up close and appreciate the beauty of the surroundings even more. The bungalow experience was fantastic. It was impeccably clean and provided all the comforts I needed for a comfortable stay. I felt truly relaxed and connected with nature. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a natural and peaceful retreat. I can't wait to come back and enjoy the new additions, such as the hot springs. Without a doubt, this place has become one of my favorite destinations.

Everything was awesome

The grounds are stunning to walk around, we saw toucans, frogs, and a kinkajou on the property. Another couple let us know that they saw a sloth at breakfast. The rooms are spread out with greenery in-between so it feels very private. We were surprised to find out the property was fully booked, the grounds were so quiet and we didn't see very many other people. Pool area is nice. Good breakfast options. Staff was very accommodating helping set up tours and even an early to go breakfast before normal breakfast hours. Would absolutely stay here again. My stay exceeded expectations.

Be prepared to either get a taxi ($35-$40 each way) into La Fortuna or have your own transportation. Besides for the restaurant on property, there are not many other food options nearby. Some rooms definitely had nicer views than others. There was work being done on the land adjacent to our room (we stayed in a tree house room), the smoldering burn pile didn't have the best vibes for a nature in. That being said, this was a minor blemish on a beautifully maintained property. Other rooms still had lush forest views. Dinner at the restaurant was middling, wasn't bad but not worth the price.

Everything! This was a great first stay in Costa Rica and a great introduction to the county. The staff was super friendly and helpful, showing us around the property and answering any of our questions. We asked for advise about what to do during our stay and we got options that were free and cheap, avoiding tourist traps and overpriced adventures. We were recommended the Asis Peoject for rescued animals where we got to spend a morning learning about Costa Rican wild life and volunteer. Great waking up to wild life outside of our little bungalow and jungle vibes all around us. This is a very family friendly hotel but also perfect for groups of friends. The restaurant is close and serve great food for all tastes. Breakfast was great and many options to choose from. Overall a perfect stay with excellent staff, this family run hotel is definitely on the list of places to revisit again.

Goldcarts going by fast and loud outside the bungalows super early in the morning sometimes.

Wow! We stayed here for a week and are so glad we chose this spot. It is in a peaceful and quiet location where we could be in hammocks on our deck and watch toucans, sloths, iguanas, and many birds. We stayed in the deluxe bungalows and loved being on the edge of the forest. The beds and rooms were clean, comfortable, and stocked with helpful amenities. But for me the windows/deck/hammock and access to nature was the best! The restaurant on site makes a delicious selection of breakfasts (and their smoothies are superb!), and we enjoyed their lunch/dinner many times as well. All of the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, from the very first welcome. We also enjoyed the pool, soccer field, and nature trail as well as just walking on the road outside. We of course saw other guests, but there is so much space that it does not in any way feel crowded. This is a great spot for proximity to Children’s Eternal Rainforest as well as La Fortuna. It is a bit of a drive to La Fortuna, so expect to arrange for transport. We had no problem getting taxi service or shuttles back and forth and really were glad not to be in the busier areas. (Plus we enjoyed chatting with the drivers.) Every family member loved this place and we would definitely book again next time we come! We loved it!

We loved this location. Not too in middle of the less scenic and super tourist congested La Fortuna town but close enough to not feel put out by extra driving. The grounds and room were lovely. The kids really enjoyed the very private deck with hammocks and pool time at the end of the day. We are all very happy with this choice, especially after seeing the other choices in town .

Only issue was our shower leaked a bit on the bathroom floor but I kind of expect that in traveling, perhaps this isn't normal and we didn't complain so dont know if they would have found a solution.
