Hotel Quartier des Spectacles

Location was fantastic and very close to the Metro. It was also very close to Old Montreal. The hotel is right downtown and I found it very easy to get around to other parts of the city. If location is key for you, this hotel is a good bet. Not a ton of bells and whistles. Room was simple but clean and very warm. Cheap and cheerful which is exactly what I wanted.

The bed was not that comfortable. If you are person with limited mobility, this hotel will present challenges. You can only access the hotel by walking up a flight of stairs and you have to climb down and climb up stairs to access most of the rooms. Not a problem for me, but a person with limited mobility would find access almost prohibitive as there is no elevator access.

In general we had a really comfortable stay at this hotel. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast didn’t have a lots of varieties but you get what you paid for, but still we really enjoyed the breakfast. The hotel is located in the centre so almost everything is within walk in distance. It was our first time travelling to Montreal but still we managed to visit almost all the tourist areas around downtown by walking. The only down side of the hotel I would is cleanliness. The room we stayed in was so stingy, and the whole bed, bedsheet, pillowcase including the closet itself was so smelly we couldn’t stand it anymore, so we asked the staff to either have the new bedsheets on or have us in different room. As a result, they moved us to different room which is little better than the previous one. As a whole, I would recommend this hotel to all the people who are looking for a centrally located and not too pricey hotel.

Cleanliness of the room and loud noises from outside

Very clean rooms, hallways and lobbies! Even in the winter! Super central location on Ste Catherine, cannot get any closer to big attractions in MTL. Breakfast was simple but fine. Room small but that was expected at the price we paid, and was well appointed with everything we needed. We chose to pay for a private bathroom and were glad we did, the bathroom was (literally sparkling) clean and a good size. Would stay here again, especially for the price.

There are a LOT of stairs so if you have mobility issues, please keep this in mind. No elevator at all. That was really the only negative.

There was a hot/cold water machine at the reception area. It was a pleasure to have my cup of tea any time of the day/night. A bonus was the 24/7 reception service; they help carry your bag up/down the stairs if need be, and were quick to fulfill any requests made. I also appreciated the continental breakfast; it was more than just 'coffee and croissants'. The metro station was less than a block away. There was a thermostat and air-conditioner in the room.

There were just a few minor details not worth mentioning.

Ac needs time to get cold, but worked well once on for like an hour. Comfortable cool stay, breakfast of grains (toast, cereals,) plus packets of jam, Nutella and butter, apples and bananas and raisins, coffee and orange juice, hot cocoa, simple but does the job on a budget. The location cannot be best for price for the area. We went for jazz fest and were less than 5 min from the main stage. Lots of steps! Mobility issues be warned, but all for all very happy with my stay, price for the location, plus simple breakfast? Can’t be beat.

The location was very good for all things downtown. Were able to walk or take the transit to the places we wanted to go. It's borderline a budget-type hotel, but the rooms were clean enough and the staff was helpful. Perfectly fine hotel if you plan to be out and about for the most of your trip - and you don't mind climbing a flight of stairs when you go in and out. If you don't have unreasonable expectations that this is a five-star place, it is a great hotel for a few days visit.

The location is superb. Very convenient to the main train station, various shopping areas and attractions. The bed is comfortable. Breakfast is provided but it's simple bread, spread, cereals, coffee, tea and fruits which we enjoyed the simple meal. Toilet is pretty good but can be cold when temperature is low outside. Water pressure is good.

The room size that I stayed in is a bit too small (without bathroom). Good for max two persons. The floor creaks when you walk on it.

Very clean, we even got provided towels and shower gel. The room was located on the courtyard side, so it was really quiet and we couldn't hear the street. (But the street wasn't busy while we were ther in general) The location is perfect - downtown (near to the Chinatown-gate). The breakfast was very small (toast, jam, Nutella, orange juice coffee, milk and cereals as well as apples and bananas) but we expected it so it didn't bother us. They allowed us the leave the backpacks in a room after checkout, which was awesome :)

Neither like or dislike : No way to park at the Hotel, I parked my car at the mall the * DesJardins centre *. The mall underground parking lot cost $24 it was heated and lots of places to park. Just inconvenient High ceilings in the room were great!! And a nice view from the window.

The free breakfast only offered two things: cereal, and toast. A person who is Keto/paleo or gluten sensitive, probably can't eat those two items. But, the coffee was very hot and delicious Bathrooms are communal, not inside the rented rooms, but out in the hallway/ shared.
