It's a terrific location, close to our favourite part of Melbourne - Lygon St, Carlton - and a lovely area anyway. Right at the stop for the 19 tram, and slose to the 58, easy to get anywhere else. The bed was super comfortable, the room was cosy, with a pleasant view. The staff were super helpful, the restaurant downstairs in the pub was superb, and there was an excellent cafe a little down the road for great breakfasts, coffee & cake, and lunch.

Mostly good. The wifi wasn't great, I ended up preferring to hotspot with my phone network.

The room and hotel in general were beautiful and tidy. And the staff were always friendly and accommodating, including in relation to keeping my luggage until check-in, which was a life-saver.

The biggest issue for me was the WiFi, which was very limited and wouldn't allow me to connect into video calls, which luckily weren't urgent but, had they been, it would've caused a bit of a crisis! Also, it's worth noting that the hotel's sound insulation wasn't good. My room was street-facing, which meant that the sounds of cars and people passing in front of the hotel were quite noticeable. This is sorta expected in buildings that are older but it meant earplugs were needed for me to be able to sleep. So...bring earplugs if your sleep is light!

The hotel's location was perfect for our long weekend away in Melbourne. It is right next to a tram line so it made it super easy for us to either go into the city or into Brunswick area. The staff were very friendly and were happy to look after our luggage on our final day after we had checked out. The hotel was well presented and the rooms were a good spacious size. We would definitely recommend staying here and will consider it for our next trip to Melbourne!

None of these were dealbreakers for us but there didn't seem to be a lift up to the rooms (although the staff kindly offered to help us with our luggage), there was only one bin in the room (would have been good to have another in the bathroom too) and the pillows were quite flat and uncomfortable.

Location is ideal and two blocks from my employer when I'm in Melbourne. Staff are friendly and attentive, and dinner in the downstairs bar very convenient for someone traveling alone. My room this time was smaller (tho less expensive) than my previous visit, but still very comfortable, clean and everything I needed for a one-night stay. Missed spotting the hairdryer and ironing board cupboard the first time - but discovered them very conveniently situated in the hallway. Rooms and bathrooms are modern and renovated, and a nice surprise in a 150-year old building!

Depending on your room location, the noise from downstairs and creaking floors might bother some. Sounded like barrels were being moved around at closing time! On an earlier visit, my room was much larger with a huge bathroom so better appointed - this time, the TV was awkwardly placed, and I had no reading lamp or comfortable chair (due to the smaller space!)

As the main purpose of our trip was to visit the University with my teenage daughter, the location was perfect. We also allowed some shopping time so the tram stop directly outside that took us straight to the CBD was an added bonus! We dined at the restaurant downstairs after a busy day and it was beautiful. The hosts are so friendly, welcoming and accommodating that we felt at home and at ease right away. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable and little touches like the gorgeous toiletries add to the experience.

It’s hard to find anything not to like about Naughton’s. There was a little bit of noise from the pub/restaurant downstairs one night but was done by 10pm and not at all rowdy - just chatter and laughter!

From exterior to interior it shows that the 150 year old building is in good hands. Located on the corner of Royal Parade and Morrah Street. The very hospitable staff checked us into room 103 which overlooks Morrah street. The floorplan is just what my partner and I needed for our two night stay. Naughton Hotel is a short tram ride to and from the CBD with tram stop conveniently located two pedestrian crossings away. In the same direction you will find the University of Melbourne, through which you can enjoy a pleasant stroll whilst making your way to Lygon street also known as Little Italy where Melbourne's cafe culture was born and where to give you an idea, you will also find restaurants, bars, newsagents, ice-cream shops, clothing stores and more. Thumbs up to the food and drink at Naughtons, having tried both lunch and dinner. For early risers chasing breakfast it's a five minute walk down Morrah street to the corner cafe.

Room 6 was a very comfortable room for one. Double bed was a true double. Morning sunshine was lovely with a cup of T2 tea and very good milk provided in a little glass bottle. Lovely toiletries in bulk containers so limited plastic waste. Room always smelt nice upon returning. I stayed Sun-Wed and street noise didn't bother me at all. I liked seeing the trams and people each morning.

The pillows were all different and all a bit ordinary. Standard hotel linen with flat sheet on mattress that was hard to keep in place. Toilet seat a little pitted and shower base cracked which was a bit uncomfortable on the feet but very small problems and room was still great value.

The room was very clean and comfortable. Recent refurbishments meant that the room felt quite light and airy. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The meals and music downstairs were great. The area is lovely and as a woman travelling alone, I felt very safe. There was also a great cafe a short walk away which does an excellent breaky. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Parking was a little tricky. The only access to the rooms is via the stairs, which some people might find challenging. For me though, it was a very positive experience.

Location was close to the city, public transport right out the front. The room was small but fine for a couple or solo traveller. Despite the traffic and public transport right out the front, the room was extremely quiet, the bed comfortable and a great shower. The toiletries provided were top quality, and staff were very helpful and friendly on check-in. Downstairs is a popular restaurant and bar (which I plan to sample on my next visit), with a lovely coffee shop just a block away.

Rooms are accessible via a staircase, so may not be suitable if you have difficulty walking. I'm not sure if there is a lift.

Staff were amazing, I really mean it! Amazing!! Very busy but always trying to make us happy. Location, view and general feel of the area was great. It is a basic pub room but you have everything you need. A lot of history in this place but beautifully and sympathetically renovated. Double glazed windows keep noise and cold out. Right on a tram stop into the city. Food and drinks in pub are just right. We will stay again.

Only little things. Tiny fridge, fresh daily milk didn't arrive, water saver shower head was more a spray than shower ( no washing hair) and the bathroom door needed fixing, which my partner did with the borrowed house tool kit (staff offerred free drinks for the help 🙂)
