Canberra Rex Hotel

The room was clean and spacious, also it's fairly quiet given that it's located on the second floor. The staff was helpful and friendly. The bar on the top level was a great spot for photos and a few drinks. The heated pool was clean and quiet (could be due to the cold weather).

The pull-down single bed is located right next to the mini fridge, so when you sleep you'll constantly hear the motor/generator noise. It didn't really bother me as much but could be an issue for light sleeper.

Stay at the Rex quite often. It’s decent value for money, nice facilities, howling moon is great (just book ahead as it’s always booked out) nice views yummy room service (although very short time frame 5-10pm outside of that you can’t get much to eat or drink and it’s a fair way from the city so only ubereats) Staff were fantastic and accommodating. Safe area lots of parking. Gym and pool. Security on the door all night, Good place for events or a stopover

A lot of things need upgrading, lift buttons hardly work, power points old and sole not working, lots of stains and burns in carpet etc. it’s not luxury. a minibar would be nice, priority to guests to go to howling moon instead of booking it out with events every night would be good. Wifi dropped out a fair bit, beds comfy but you can always feel the lump in the middle where the two meet.

It was a really good stay. There’s a gym and a very clean pool. I had a single room with a king size bed. It was very clean. I had the buffet breakfast on 2 days of my stay, one of those days was my birthday and they provided a complimentary buffet breakfast for me which was lovely. There were functions on each night on the rooftop venue however I didn’t hear any noise in my room which was great. There was free onsite parking but no dedicated parking.

The only thing that would have made it better was if there was dedicated free parking. If there is a function going on, the car park fills up but having said that, there is still parking around the back of the hotel on the street if needed. Not really a big deal.

I liked the friendly staff at the desk, cleaning, the help that was sent to us when we have TV difficulty and breakfast staff also was very lovely and friendly. Very helpful and most importantly genuine. I like the fact that there is a stream room in our suite, which was one of the reasons we want to book that particular room. Love the huge shower and quality if the shower heads.

Our of the 2 TV in our room, one of the TV's cable slots wasn't working and also have dry paint on the USB cable from the TV, so my wife and I had to share the TV with our little one. The stream room I had in mind was the usual wooden strips look, rather than a stream hole in the shower. The bench in the shower can also be replace with something sturdier will be nice. Breakfast room was a "WOW" when we walked in, but the lack of food choice was a bit disappointing for the price.

My 12 yr old son and I are staying at a different hotel every fortnight since June and will until Jan next year. So far Belconnen is number 1 choice being the new Abode. Quite clean nice size rooms and pool and facilities are great. Shops in the hotel as well as a grocery store attached and many nice restaurants all within a walk and a nice walk at that. We are ticking boxes like detail cleanliness and real attention to detail and from what we see this far the chances of Canberra establishment getting top marks all round in the reviews is looking unlikely. 🤔 we shall see. Pavilion it is tonight and we have heard great things and been looking forward to this one. Rex was nothing special but it was ok and good location.

Could been cleaner, Small room, no smart tv and pool not attached to hotel rather adjoining building. Nice pool though. 👍

Great sized and well designed room with a large balcony. Very comfortable bed and pillows. The room was very spacious and well appointed. The restaurant and bar at the Rex are beautifully designed and looked newly renovated. Great breakfast offering in lovely setting with stunning views of the landscape around Canberra. It was a good location for me only a short walk to Lonsdale Street and with light rail just nearby to get to the CBD. First time in Canberra so it was a good location for exploring before my conference. It had good facilities I did not have time to try out like pool access. I was only there one night but would happily stay there again.

Little to not like. Outlook from the room I had over the car park wasn't the best view but more than made up for by the great views from the light and airy restaurant space. I sat up there for a while working and staff were happy to accomodate that.

Room was clean and very big. Bathroom very spacious. Sheets and carpet were very clean. Loved that this hotel had their own rooftop bar and pool. Hotel was very well-located, only a short walk to Lonsdale street which has loads of cafes, shops and restaurants. Free parking on site was a plus! We will definitely stay again when we visit Canberra.

Bed was a little bit too hard for my liking and this hotel also uses a traditional key rather than the usual swipe card but this would not stop me from booking again as this hotel was very good value.

Booked a King room. Was a huge room with large seperate lounge room, bedroom and bathroom accessible via sliding door from bedroom and door from lounge. Modern and fresh design. Parking easy around sides of hotel. Stunning rooftop bar. Excellent location few minute walk to Lonsdale Street for cafes/bars/restaurants and close to everything by car

The staff in rooftop bar were very hit and miss and seemed uninterested and unhelpful both times we visited, shame as rooftop bar was a fantastic addition to the hotel

Hotel is very central in Braddon Canberra. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. No actually restaurant but you can order room service food at the Bar and sitting area if you don’t want to eat in your room.

One of the rooms we booked (king room with fold out single bed and sitting area) has got to be the worst room for wifi and phone reception. I don’t know if the walls were built with lead and concrete but getting a phone signal or hooking up with the complimentary wifi is virtually impossible. If you want to spend time with family without the disruption of social media, request for room 112.

Overall was a good stay! Would like to thank the concierge guy at night, he is a star! Very accommodating and service is 5 star. Well done mate

Breakfast was average, they had a big group and the restaurant wasnt ready for it, not enough hot food we always had to wait. In the evening they had both the rooftop and bar closed for a function which was disappointing. We looked forward for some relaxing bar experience while staying in the same place and we didn’t had it. The hotel should spare some space for guests when there’s functions like this.
