Stonewall Resort

Everyone was super friendly and kind! My family and I were road tripping (a 10 hour drive from Virginia to Illinois). We had already been driving for a few hours and the kitchen had already closed for the night but the staff was so kind and allowed us to buy a pizza to go. Even provided us with paper plates and napkins as well! The resort (from what we saw from our overnight stay, we stayed only one night and left in the morning.) was absolutely beautiful especially the restaurants and the pool. Sadly we weren't able to see the rest of the property but I'm already making future plans to return with friends.

Everything was perfect.

Very peaceful setting in the woods by a big lake. beautiful entry as you come in and decent size clean room overlooking lake. Excellent food at Stillwaters. Nice indoor-outdoor pool with poolside bar for drinks and food. Nice big TV in room and able to connect to personal Netflix account. Shower had great water pressure and appreciated having full shampoo and conditioner dispensers instead of tiny bottles.

The pool wasn’t nearly large enough for guests, not enough pool chairs by far. And perhaps need more massage therapists — even calling a week in advance was not enough to book a massage for any time in our 3-day stay. The decor in the room was a little dark/rustic for a high class resort, the bed was and pillows were too soft to sleep comfortably.

We ate at all 3 restaurants and the food was great! They have a wonderful place to sit in the lodge. We played games, read, relaxed. We rented kayaks and explored the wonderful shorelines. We even beached them and swam in the river. It was glorious! We took a ride on the Little Sorrel up to the dam. Wonderful! We swam in their great pool. We bought several smore kits and roasted marshmallows. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Highly recommend this resort!

The only thing that we didn't like was the noisy air conditioner units.

beautiful facilities. amazing views & atmosphere. food in Stillwater was delicious! most importantly one of the best groups of staff members I’ve interacted with in awhile. everyone was so friendly and helpful from front desk to waitstaff to housekeeping & management. they took their time to answer all questions. they stopped to say hello and ask how you were doing or if you needed anything. just felt so welcomed there!

rooms were a little dated. you could tell they did some upgrades but could still use a few more. also when we originally got there we were given an adjoining room and it was a very thin door. you could really hear the people on the other side just talking. on the plus though they were super helpful in switching us without problems. we were there off season too so that helps. if you care about this during busy season I recommend calling ahead to ask for a non adjoining room.

Very beautiful

When I checked in I was not in their system and she had to pull it up from Booking.com and make reservation. The price on booking.com included the price of resort fee and taxes. But when I checked out they charged me more taxes and resort fee again. Over charged me about $111. When I questioned them at the desk they said it was booking.coms problem. When I have a day to spend on the phone I will be calling the manager!

Breakfast buffet was good. Access to room good. Pool and firepit area nice.

Way overpriced. For the price of a nites stay, more amenities should be included.

I had read some review that indicated the Inn was somewhat dated. That may have once been the case but it has been renovated. It is light, bright, and spotlessly clean. Our room was large and well appointed, including the4 bathroom.

I wish the main restaurants were open on Sunday. That being said, we were aware of that before we arrived so it wasn't a surprise. We dined outdoors at the Bunker, a sports bar by the golf clubhouse. The food and service were both outstanding

The breakfast was good. Didn’t like the gravy. It was tomato gravy and then we had corn beef gravy for breakfast it was terrible. The waitress’s was really great!

The rooms could have been nicer for the amount per night. The pool closed too early we was sitting out there listening to the DJ and the man comes and locks the gates and said everyone leave. I think before 10 is too early.

Overall, a beautiful place and safety precautions are in place. I'd like to come back when it's warmer, and when we can take advantage of the game room, vast trails, the pool, the patio and lake activities.

Facilities are limited now because it's winter and due to COVID. Only one restaurant is open and the menu is limited and wasn't prepared as well as it should have been for the price. The cocktails were great but my $30 salmon (no sides) was overcooked and the brick oven pizza used dry chicken and the crust's texture was more like toast than crust. The firepit on the deck is a nice touch, but there was a group crowded around it and we couldn't get close enough to use it.

ambiance is amazing! everything is decorated for Christmas! we used the indoor/outdoor pool and the fitness center. We had great meals and my granddaughter even saw Santa! it’s located in a State Park. beautiful surroundings and lake. wildlife. staff were excellent!!
