It was a cute little room. Very close to the pier.

It was an oceanfront room technically but due to the dunes an grass so high on them you couldn't see the ocean.

The manager was amazingly helpful to guests. I watched him help people park, get the ice machine working for a lady (me) having trouble and I even saw him carry luggage from the car of a couple I imagine were in their late 80’s. Our room was spotless, towels were given any time you needed them. Beds are very soft with lots of pillows. The room smelled so fresh and clean- not that bug spray/deodorizer smell that some places have. Just steps away from the beach and Nags Head pier.

Parking was challenging. The hotel is old and there are cracks and dings and signs of use throughout. Nothing that matters really. Bring your own K cups. The coffee is pretty weak.

The staff were absolutely amazing and they were so helpful. We had towels at our door every morning. Which was super helpful. The room was clean and well put together. We enjoyed our stay and will be back again!

I didn’t like how we didn’t have a kitchen for the price we paid for the room. It was good overall but that was my only set back! I feel it was a little pricey for what was included!

The deluxe apartment was nice. Beds were wonderful! It was easy access to the beach. There wasn't much noise. Over all we enjoyed our stay.

The floors were not mopped before we arrived. The coffee maker didn't work anc there wasn't enough storage for the kitchen area. A shelf or two for storing food would be optimal. The upstairs walkway was a little scary and in need of serious repairs.

Excellent location! Just steps from the beach, could walk to restaurants as well. Staff was super friendly and helpful - room was certainly not luxurious by any stretch, but it had everything we needed. It was very clean as well.

Fold-out sleeper sagged in the middle (but I think that is often the case with those types of beds - they are not usually all that comfortable!). The bathroom was tiny, so it would have been helpful to have more hooks around the room to hang towels, wet bathing suits, etc., and to have a mirror somewhere other than the bathroom. There were 3 of us staying in our room, and it was tricky with only one mirror.

The stay was nice, rooms were very nice for the price, place was clean. Bed were comfortable, very roomy living area, kitchen was doable.

On the web site it looked like you could just walk out on a deck and down to the beach, not at all, nor could you see the beach, one reason I chose to stay. You can not see the beach at all until you walked down behind the building and there was no deck.

The room was nice and clean. At first I thought it had a slight fishy odor but later realized that was most likely the ocean. Nice comfortable beds with plenty of room. Great location and easy beach access. A plus that the kitchen was stocked with dishes and pans!

One of the air conditioners was extremely loud. The parking situation is very tight and a little inconvenient.

Comfortable, clean, outstanding customer service! Wade <check'in> and even the virtual kiosk welcome guests with a smile and make a point to ensure you are not waiting in limbo for a late afternoon check'in. The property staff bend over backwards to ensure you have what you need and keep things tidy around this oldy but goody. Recently renovated, rooms to accomdate all sizes and needs. If your staying one night or a week, this hotel is worth every penny (location, service, and amazing guests).

Shower heads should be replaced. Needs a better spray option for coming off the beach. Shower pools water in front of room and bottlenecks beach access....hot, funky water 3 or more inches deep to wade through. .....would be nice to have a hose and separate wash area to hit beach chairs, children, animals etc.

Overall, the Colonial Inn was a good experience. The room was spacious and extremely clean to be an older facility. The pool was the perfect temperature, and the beach was just a few steps away. Being pet friendly was an extreme bonus in our book.

The downside of our stay would be the stove didn't work - which ended up being fine, we just went out to eat instead of cooking like we had originally planned. Our upstairs neighbors were also a little noisy, but that was no fault of the Colonial Inn itself. Parking is a little tight as well so a bigger vehicle is hard to maneuver.

our room was big with a fridge, even a stove and pots and pans. very close to the beach and convenient to other places. my 18 year old niece appreciated it was easy walking distance to a hot spot ice cream parlor.

Parking was inconvenient. the dumpsters were right outside our window and trash pick up at 4:34 am woke us up.
