The Chase is a beautiful hotel on an amazing lake in a great town.

Having stayed there several times, it is now under new ownership who are (somewhat understandably) getting back to basics in terms of perks and amenities, before figuring out what a more defined experience will be for guests. (This is how it was explained to me in a casual conversation with one of the managers). It feels maybe a little too stripped back. No live entertainment in the bar, a padlock on the sauna, the gym is kind of dirty and starting to feel out of date, mismatched cushions on the couch in my two bedroom suite, not enough or the right utensils in the kitchen. Specifically no spatula.

It’s scenic, well restored, gives you the “dirty dancing” 1950’s feel with all the modern updates.

The price is ridiculous for two beds and a shower. You get no maid service for an overnight stay, no fresh linens, no refills on the comp coffee, which is all you get as there is no breakfast, not even a mint. Don’t get me wrong, I get the times, completely understand that it’s a resort area, BUT for 600.00… well I have a few expectations.

Our lakeside condo was very spacious with an outstanding view of the lake. Each bedroom had its own bath, while condo had a full kitchen, dining room, living room, screened-in porch and deck with two outside tables and chairs. In unit washer and dryer with Tide and Bounce provided. Lots of closets, for storage as well as storage in kitchen and baths. Enough room to comfortably house two couples or a small family for an extended stay.

No elevator to second story condo! Kitchen was sparsely equipped (well worn pots/pans & mismatched dishes, no mixing bowl, few utensils), many lightbulbs were burned out and not replaced, had to clean up hairs in bathtub, in bathroom drawers and on bathroom floors. Kitchen sinks were not scoured well, nor was kitchen floor very clean. Cleanliness is important, especially during this pandemic!

Nice decor although our room is a little dark. Good location on the lake and right in town. Convenient boat rental.

The beach isn’t swimmable because it is only shin deep before the boat docks fill the area. The sand is nice but it is more a marina than beach. This was our biggest disappointment. It didn’t have the “retreat” like feel we had hoped for. There really wasn’t a place we felt like hanging out at.

All staff was friendly, both cleaning waitstaff and desk. Room was very nice, and clean, although no vent fan in bathroom. View from restaurant was good as well as the patio.

Desk clerk seemed to be new so could be excused for not knowing if our room faced the lake. Nor did she seem to care that we had specifically requested a room with Lakeview in an email via Booking.com - we let it go and did not "fight" it ...

Staff was friendly especially the gentleman who took our dinner reservation! Beautiful, historical hotel. I like how you had historical pictures around the building. Pretty bathroom. My walleye dinner was great but two fillets was too much. One fillet would have been enough.

Continental breakfast was a little disappointing- juices weren't chilled and it would of been nice to have place to enjoy there versus having to back to room. The edges of the carpeting in our room were dusty and should be vacuumed. The darkness of the lounge by the front desk. Open the curtains more?

Location, amenities, and size of our suite were impressive.

Our suite was not entirely clean and everything in its place. A stray piece of linen or towel was left under the front edge of couch. We didn’t touch it. And the bath vanity countertop was smeared pretty bad by a dirty cloth. we had to correct this before we could use it.

Staff was very helpful and nice. Sitting on the deck enjoying drinks was very nice. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Breakfast buffet was terrible. Everything was cold and the price was way too much.

Everything was so convenient and the staff was very helpful. The 502 restaurant had excellent food and service.

They were short staffed so the room wasn’t cleaned or towels changed for us. The hair dryer was getting old and shut off after several minutes.

The hotel is in a perfect location from everything downtown Walker. You can walk everywhere. The staff was awesome! The facility overall is great!!

My only negative was the rooms (mainly floors)were dirty. The cleaning staff were not cleaning until check out, so rooms were dirty and we had to take out our own trash. A little inconvenient but not a deal breaker.
