Avenue Inn Downtown San Luis Obispo

Great value for money. Perfect for short stay Great location, short walk to downtown. Very Comfortable bed, clean linens, good pillows, very clean bathroom. Blackout curtains. Good bedside lights with bedside plug-in for your phone charger. Has iron, extra blanket, good shower if you are tall. Insulated windows keep it quiet in the room despite busy street outside. . Owner kindly kept our bags in office for a few hours while we went for lunch and waited for our afternoon train

Not necessarily negatives given the affordable price point, just FYI: Only local channels on TV, no way to hook to paid channels via your phone/ tablet. No usb charging in room, bring your plug-in charger (plenty if plugs). No pool or recreational amenities, so not a vacation resort place. 1/2 the rooms are up stairs with no elevator, so book accordingly. (Busy concierge hauled our bags up the stairs for us, which was very nice of him) No hairdryer in room. Maybe one available at front desk? Only Negative: $50/hour for late checkout - ouch. So plan to check out on time.(college town, aparantly late ckeckouts have caused problems for them in the past?)

The room was more spacious than I expected. The bed was comfortable and there were places to open two suitcases. The bathroom was spacious also and the shower was excellent. The location was within walking distance of my brother's home and almost next door to a lovely bakery.

for some reason we had a difficult time sleeping and couldn't get the correct temperature in the room. The A/C worked correctly but we just couldn't figure out a good temp to keep the room at.

Extremely clean! Everyday they cleaned the room, vacuumed,made the bed. That was pure luxury, we got a fabulous location, our room was a corner so it was large with two large windows. The refrigerator was a good size. It was bright and a quiet spot with. Lovely view. We could walk to downtown which was great. .

The air conditioner was old and noisy and should be updated. The shower head was nit placed right for my height.

I was pleasantly surprised with my stay. The king room was clean, comfortable and looked recently updated. We only stayed one weeknight to do a college visit, but I would definitely stay there again. Location was close enough to downtown that you could walk to shopping/restaurants and only 7 minute drive to Cal Poly. Good value.

The parking area was small. We had to park in the back but we arrived/checked in later. The heater/AC was a little noisy when it kicked on, but most wall units like that are.

The fairly compact room was clean, tidy and easy to navigate, with an included table by the window that came in very handy. Shower looked recently remodeled, with nice hot water and decent pressure. Bed and pillows were more comfortable than expected for a motel-style property. The room included a microwave and fridge, and there was plenty of free parking in lot. Also, very good location right off freeway and close to downtown shopping.

TV could have been bigger, and coffee was weak.

The hotel was on the fringe of downtown. We walked easily to downtown for restaurants and shopping. I have a large truck so parking it near the room was a bit tight. We used the heater in the room which was more than adequate. Bath/shower was clean, water hot.

This is a nit. The TV remote was annoying to use. Ive not seen a remote with no up/down controls for the guide page. Operating instructions would have been nice. My wife would have liked brighter lighting over the sink.

This place is in an excellent location that is right off the 101 and is a short walk to downtown SLO. The room was reasonably priced, simple, comfortable, and clean. The front office lady was friendly, efficient, and very accommodating to our late arrival.

Considering our budget for this year, the things we didn't like about our stay are very minor annoyances: No restroom fan, 2 queen bed room was a little tight on space.

Nice hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. The the beds were comfortable and the room seemed to be newly renovated. It is walking distance to downtown which was the priority for us. They have plenty of parking and we were able to leave it parked there after check out for a few hours to get breakfast downtown.

It was a little tight getting into the closet because we had the 2 queen beds. We made it work. They don't have a pool or breakfast included but I don't check that before I booked so that was my fault, It was a good value and met our needs.

It was clean and appeared to be a safe area.

Very small room and a lot of road noise. They gave me a handicap room so the shower was not easy to use. The top shower head hit way back in the shower where there was a seat so you could not stand there. Mi had to use the other which was too short. Also, because of handicap no parking outside of the door. A hairdryer in the room would also be nice.

Modest motel with excellent room! Extremely clean, very modern bath and room furnishings, friendly staff, plenty of parking. I was pleasantly surprised that the interiors were so nice. Exterior is well maintained too, clean parking lot & lobby. Excellent value through my Booking.com price. Great location, within walking distance of SLO downtown and close to freeways. Quiet rooms, set back from the road.
