Absolutely beautiful building in the heart of Stow. Very comfortable room and despite facing onto the Square it was very quiet and peaceful. I had read a review that you would receive endless emails prior to arrival so wasn’t surprised when this happened. However they were useful especially the directions to the car parks which we did manage to get into. Also if you are intending to eat in the evening do book in (as it says in the email).
It was very busy when we stayed (because of the Cheltenham Festival) so probably the staff were a bit stressed but we did find some of them a bit abrupt.

Very friendly, helpful, courteous staff; excellent dinner and breakfast menu; decent sized and very comfortable bedroom with view of Market Square and St Edward's Hall, and well appointed ensuite bathroom; bijou C17 inn in Market Square location with on street parking at the door that perfectly suited our overnight stay (although private onsite parking available somewhere behind).
Bombarded with duplicating emails before arrival; lighting dimly atmospheric to a fault (my wife fell at the bottom of the badly lit stairs, and the grey on beige dinner menu was almost illegible); the much anticipated steak tartar (not often offered in UK) was disappointing in that the sought after beef and egg flavours were masked by an excess of additional ingredients other flavours; drinks and menu pricing generally (esp. cafe latte an extra at breakfast).

The location of the hotel couldn't be better. Right on the market square - ideal. Parking is limited, but we had no problems and there is plenty of parking within easy reach. One of the Stag's car parks has 2 EV charging points. It's a really nice cosy welcoming pub with rooms. The facilities in our room - coffee, tea, comfortable bed, very good shower room - were all of a high quality, I thought. My only reason for marking any of the above less than top marks was our room, Bambi, was really too small to be called a double. It had no storage space to speak of. The Stag has other larger rooms so if you are a couple I'd suggest not going for the cheapest. We dined there one night. Food very good. I can recommend the sharing pie! Breakfast also good. Cooked is extra, but the continental breakfast is good - the croissants are delicious! We'd stay again at the Stag without hesitation but we'd book a larger room.
Just the room size as mentioned previously.

We loved our stay here. We were in room 6 and we had a gorgeous view of the town from the cutest little bay window. The bed was large (King size) and super comfy. The complimentary breakfast was great, although a bit slow for everything to come out. The location was brilliant and for what we needed, very central. There is free parking onsite. I have made a video review if you want to see more details of what our room looked like and the breaky. You can view it here https://youtu.be/q6TTVN0Q6ag
Breakfast starts at 7:30 technically but the beautiful warm pastries don't come out for quite some time. Which can be an issue if you need to take off for a full day of sightseeing.

The Hotel is beautiful and a fantastic location. The rooms are finished to a lovely standard, very clean and the bed was very comfortable and huge! The staff are so friendly and helpful and the food was great :)
The only downside is that, due to the age of the building, it could be quite noisy when people would walk around in the room above or the corridor (old floorboards!) so this disturbed my sleep a little.

the room was incredible value for money, a whole floor with a roll top bath as well as a double shower, loved it! the continental breakfast was very varied- amazing blueberry muffins! great location also. staff were friendly
wasn’t aware that cooked breakfast would be extra (quite a bit extra!), may be worth mentioning somewhere before booking- continental was very nice though so almost made up for it! ate here one night of our stay and wasn’t overly amazed by the food, although the parmesan truffle fries were lovely. one or two notes with cleanliness of the room (cobwebs, hairs) but that’s being picky!

Lovely village location. Plenty of parking. Quirky room in the loft called the "crows nest" very comfortable bed. Wonderful meal 10/10 for the steak & ale sharing pie!! A complimentary glass of Peseco each for our anniversary, which was a lovely surprise. Very friendly and helpful staff...
We were unable to have a relaxing drink after our wonderful meal as all the tables were reserved for meals so we had to go out to another pub. The quirkiness of our room was nice. However, the socket for the kettle/ coffee machine was unaccessible unless you got on your hands and knees and struggled under a beam to change plugs. A mirror near the window opposite the bed would have been appreciated for light to see what you were doing. The gap between the bed and wall was like a dark hole!...if you dropped something down there, you would have a heck of a job getting it back. The continental breakfast was ok. Set in an awkward position with very small plates and coffee cups.

Smack in the middle of Stow, this pub with rooms above it was very convenient for our one-night stay, backpacking the Monarch's Way. Our room, the Crow's Nest, was just that; built into the eaves space in this old timber framed building. Quite cleverly designed for a one night stay with our packs but not suitable for anyone with luggage or mobility issues. Height restrictions (my 6' 3" husband had to kneel down to clean his teeth). Food in restaurant very good, good wine list and a nice, served (but not itemised, so ask them what it comprises of) breakfast (see comment below). Nice staff too.
Communication between the hotel and Booking.com needs to be improved; Our booking clearly stated that breakfast was included. I think this has been rectified. Cooked breakfast is a timed slot and that's fine, but ours was served 40 minutes after our time. Our room has plenty of space under the eaves to add drawers and storage for those staying longer than one night, there is also room to put two very small bedside tables in to replace the one larger one on the one side (for phones, book, water etc). I spend my time assessing room ergonomics. All very quirky and fun but some of our American chums wouldn't put up with it for long.

Really nice, quaint little touches throughout. Very central on the square too. Friendly and helpful staff Lovely choice of food at the continental breakfast buffet, other cooked choices were available at an extra charge but not really necessary for us. Car park behind hotel safe, secure and free
Nothing -really enjoyed our stay (Did get woken up early both mornings by the street cleaner van going around the square - 07:30ish but it was Cheltenham week)

The food was delicious. The hotel is very clean, and comfortable, and the location is perfect. Stow-on-the-wold is such a pretty little village, with quant shops, and wonderful restaurants. The decor was impeccable. I would love to come here again. I have recommended it to many since my return.
Nothing, it was lovely. I don't have anything negative to say about this place or my visit here. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, and well stocked. The staff are very friendly and informative, and great with children too.
