Breakfast was delicious; I had both the meat and the vegetarian option and they were both really really lovely. Freshly cooked and very tasty! The room was perfect, lovely and spacious and the bar was open late allowing us to have a drink when we wanted. Staff were also very friendly, especially our breakfast server who made a ‘packed breakfast’ for my partner who didn’t make it to breakfast.

The floorboards above our room were very squeaky and noisy, which led to two nights of not much sleep due to the noise. You could hear every footstep and even some conversations from the room above. This meant my partner didn’t make it to breakfast due to lack of sleep.

We are two couples who stayed at this hotel for four nights. From the start the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The bedrooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The food was reasonably priced and very good. We wanted a property set in it's own grounds away from traffic and crowds and this hotel met our criteria perfectly.

Our only negative was that "due to Covid" and in common with most hotels at the moment, there was no daily room cleaning. Apart from this we could not find any faults worth mentioning.

Special experience in many ways

A few things were missing in our room for comfort, especially in a suit room…. suitcase stand, some bottled water and glasses, a nest of tables to enjoy a cup of tea sitting on the settee, a wall mirror where you can see yourself complete, an additional magnifying mirror in the bathroom ….. some bathrobes and slippers would have been a bonus as well as a coffee maker/machine….

This place is beautiful . The best hotel we have ever stayed in whilst taking the dogs. I can't praise the staff enough especially Michelle and Angela. True fantastic hosts from begging to the end of our stay. Breakfast and dinner both days were great. Thank you

If the property had all the facilities it has now and was closer to the beach it would be perfect for us. Oh and then if we could have a swimming pool please but honestly it has the best for the dogs. They were very welcome in the property and the grounds were perfect to let them off the lead for a run and no sheep in sight Lol.

The hotel is in a secluded location but close enough that you can get to places no problem. The rooms are huge and they kindly upgraded us. The grounds are phenomenal and there is a river at the back of it and of a night, the stars are so clear. The biggest plus about this hotel is the staff though. They looked after us so well. Our dog was also so well looked after. You can see how hard the pandemic has hit the industry wherever you go in the lakes but the team work tirelessly to make sure that no one ever knows. The staff are a real credit to the hotel and made our mini-moon so memorable.

The hotel is in a great location if you're working at the Sellafield site. The hotel team was fantastic! Friendly, attentive, helpful and thoughtful I think best describe the staff.

Breakfast was great and the staff were reasonable but the night porter was fabulous friendly and talkative and willing to answer any questions regarding our stay . But the reception team were less commutative. Really good experience, location you are 50 miles away from the lakes though . Thank you
