Mackays was a very pleasant stay on our NC500 adventure. The staff were very accommodating, professional and attentive. Supper was superb and tasty. Breakfast was similar served by pleasant professional staff. Easy parking, not too far from the local town. Overall a very pleasant stay

Just minor cleaning observations re the furniture and ceiling light fitting, made direct to Mackays. Otherwise I would recommend this Hotel.

Lovely, magical hotel (as it was all decorated for xmas ) - like a trip back in time ( in a good way). Room was large and clean with a river view ( they upgraded us to a larger room which was so kind) staff were amazing and very accomodating - the chef made us a different soup! If you like whiskey they have an amazing selection! Highly recommended

The staff were wonderful, special mention to fiona,sam,and stan, others were just as good but didn't get there names. Comfy apsrtment, excellent breakfast

We liked everything about the property. The room was spacious and large bathroom with jetted tub. The food served in the restaurant was one of the best meals we had. The Chef knows his stuff. The staff and service were excellent.

The mattress

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely food both evening meal and breakfast. Dog friendly with spacious rooms. Extra large bed was very comfortable and a lovely touch with a dram of whisky in the room on arrival.

Nothing really, just felt it was 80’s, in a good way, not dated in decor being in need of updating, was recently decorated, just seemed still in the 80s ish.

We stayed here for one night as a family of 4 on our NC500 tour. This is a well established family hotel with generous size rooms and bathrooms, all decorated to a nice standard. We ate in the hotel’s Bistro where we enjoyed a lovely meal with plenty of choice for everyone. The owners were very present and made us feel very welcome. There is no hotel parking but the street at one side of the hotel had plenty of space and wasn’t too busy. The service at breakfast was very attentive. It’s really worth a trip to Castle Sinclair Girnigoe while staying in this area.

Wonderful staff, great location and warm lovely rooms with perfect touches. I was so impressed with attention to detail, comfort, value and a very comfortable bed. Would definitely stay again. I can also recommend the fabulous breakfast options and the bistro at No. 1. Faultless dinner with beautiful ingredients and high on taste.

I liked everything

Very welcoming staff, and very attentive, with good sense of humour. Great old fashioned lift. Spacious rooms, nicely decorated, huge bathroom with bath and shower. Large bed with super-comfortable topper.

Nothing to not like - although Wick is a bit dreary and Hotel is not set in its own grounds but is rather perched between two streets. For Covid-related reasons there weren't enough tables in the bar to sit with a beer before we ate, but staff were very accommodating and allowed us to sit in the restaurant with our beers, before ordering.

Housekeeping was not undertaken because of Scottish Covid restrictions. Not sure if this was the hotels own interpretation of the regulations, as our room was serviced at other Scottish hotels where we had stayed. If you were staying more than one night you would normally expect your room to be cleaned, and the bins emptied. Hotel did advise that this Covid requirement was included on the booking confirmation, I did check but could not find the information. Other than that all good.
