Friendly staff, hard working . Particular commendation to Stephen who mans the reception, consistently attentive, hard working and excellent customer interaction. Marlon was exceptional and professional when discharging his obligation in the bar area. Breakfast service wonderful and staff were very helpful and polite. Overall, the hotel staff made us feel very welcome, that is why we consistently stay at this hotel when we visit Kent. Thank you to the staff for making our stay so pleasant. Location, excellent. Only place to stay when visiting Royal Tunbridge Wells.
The cosy room allocated did not have air condition, but was subsequently provided with a fan upon request. Day before leaving , I was informed by one of the reception staff that I purportedly had outstanding bill at the bar, this was a clear mistake by hotel staff. However the pertinent staff member failed to clarify the error once the misunderstanding was established, left me waiting until I personally verified the position. Once the misadministration was noted by the staff, I should have been informed accordingly, I should not have had to chase down the misinformation , irrespective how busy reception was purportedly at the time, an erroneous assertion was made by the staff member which therefore warranted an immediate rectification or retraction.

Large comfortable room with a great breakfast.
Advised that our room was on the second floor and then turn left. We actually found our room on the first floor after turning right. A little more staff training maybe.

I liked the general ambiance and location, the public rooms, our room and bathroom, particularly the solidity of the furnishings, the friendliness of the staff, and breakfast.
I can never understand why hotels provide only one chair when there is room for two and it is a double room! We had to ask at midday for our room to be serviced. I appreciate that hotels are generally trying to save the planet by economising on room service! The bathroom was attractive but rather dated, particularly the high-sided bath. At 5ft 9in with arthritis I managed to clamber over the side to use the fantastic shower! But, a hinged transparent side panel made it impossible to turn off either shower or bath, in the event that you had not done this properly the first time, without clambering back into the bath!

The location is absolutely second to none. Bang in the heart of the town. The staff are what make the place all very friendly and genuine too. Marlon in the bar is particularly great very friendly guy who is really on it.
Decor is a bit tired and dated. The brown pleather everywhere is a bit yuk. My bathroom had a a lot of signs of wear about it as did things like the plug sockets. (Couldn’t see any PAT labels?) floors creak a lot but I suppose it is a couple of hundred years old. Could just do with a big refresh I think.

Staff were excellent, very friendly and room very big, clean and comfy. We booked a table in the restaurant (lucky as late and warned to book early). However after going to our room we had a call to say they had double booked. This was clearly a genuine timing thing but they were very apologetic and even brought us a glass of prosecco to apologise for the inconvenience. I was very impressed with how they dealt with this. The car parking was amazing, £10 and they provided your very own reserved sign on a silver stand, a lovely touch!

All the staff were excellent. Friendly yet always professional and knowledgeable. The room was an excellent size as was our daughter's room. The air conditioning was amazing as it not only worked well but was really quiet. The bed was very good and the view from our room at the back of the hotel across a nearby park was also very relaxing. Breakfast outside in the morning sun was brilliant; both the food, service and the ambiance. This really set us up for the day ahead.
The only area that was a slight disappointment was dinner. The starter and desserts were generally satisfactory but the main courses tended to disappoint for a variety of reasons with the exception being a 'special', the boeuf bourguignon. The portions in the side dishes were all on the generous side but, for example, one of my meat portions (lamb) was definitely on the small side. Overall I would be happier to pay slightly more for a improved range and higher quality offering.

We were upgraded to a very spacious room, huge bed and equally spacious bathroom with a roll-top bed and a separate walk-in shower room. Liked the booked parking space as parking in TW is a nightmare. Very good value for money.
The breakfast experience was not quite what one would expect in a "nice" hotel. Although the meal was great we were not offered toast and one had the feeling that they were short-handed. Service, limited as it was, was more than OK. I was surprised to be charged £10 for parking especially as I do not recall being told of it.

The service and ambiance were great. Staff were very accommodating particularly as we had friends come to visit us in the hotel as we were celebrating a very big wedding anniversary.
The billing from the bar was very poor in that nothing could be itemised and all that was listed was Bistro Dinner drink, Bar Dinner beverage so nothing could be properly identified afterwards. Even our golf club does better than this!!! Also numerous service charges were added and no clue given as to what these related to. Not any good for proper accounting and really should be far better itemised. Evening dinner menu comprehensive but little or no flexibility for anyone with dietary requirements - ie intolerant to onions and garlic and they could not even serve up a simple plain salad.

- The staff were wonderful, so attentive and helpful. I hurt my knee and they were very kind, asking how I was and brought ice up to the room. They also removed any alcohol ahead of time from our room as requested. - Beautiful property, and we had a lovely view of the park and gardens from our room. It was quiet and calm and we slept well. - The bath and shower were very good, and the bathroom well sized - The cooked breakfast is probably one of the best I've had in any hotel - Very good selection of teas and coffees in the room - Location is right in the middle of Tunbridge Wells so you can access both sides of the town easily
- No hand or body lotion in the room, vanity kit was sparse - Quite big stains on the cushions - The fridge seemed to be on but was warm, so we couldn't chill our water - Free parking but they do ask for £10 if you want to reserve a spot, I understand why they do this since the car park is small. But the price of the room/breakfast is already considerable so seems a bit penny pinching to ask for more to park. - Just a few minor tweaks (mainly in the bedroom) and this would be a 5 star property for me, which is reflected in the price already

Location was brilliant, very handy to walk my dog in the park. Room was well appointed, clean, comfortable and dog friendly. Bistro food was excellent.
Service in the bar was slow and not well informed or very helpful. We were not told prix fixe ended at 7pm until too late and there was no lighting in the bar until we asked for our table lamp to be lit . All parking spaces were very tight indeed, we even saw one car reverse into another.
