When the room was not ready at 3 p.m., we had to wait till 1645. At least we had my cousin room to leave cases in. The whole 3 nights the room was not hoverd and bed was not made the clean towels in room on arrival we only got one for two of us as we're told by cleaners they were still wet .breakfast was outstanding and we had dinner at night and that was outstanding too.

I came for a week so see my cousin as we are getting old now. The hotel is grand, not like the standard hotels .on arrival was given room 313 on the 3rd floor . When l entered the room, the towels were on the bed but were still wet and looked in wardrobe to find that the safe had been taken out .but on Web, it says safe in room .l went to the front desk, and the very nice reception lady upgraded me to room 301 with a safe .and gave me three breakfast vouchers, marvellous 😋.. I had dinner and breakfast in restaurant it marvellous services, and it was outstanding. eye to detail, the breakfast management was great, so helpful as l am classed as disabled helped me carry my plate in the morning. The swimming and gym outstanding 👌 But the cleaner of the room was poor 😕 from day one l was in my room when she came to make up room she asked if l would like room made up which l said yes she just pulled back sheets that is not making the bed and l have been here 7 nights not once as the sheets been changed nor leave l had fresh milk sashes or biscuits left had to go down to reception each day .nor could l clean my toilet as there was not a brush as l have had lots of operation a use the toilet 3 times a day there are skid marks down the back and not once as it been cleaned l even left seat open it did not help .there is black mould growing in the shower, which can be treated by the room maid. It is her job . I did say to the young man on the front desk about the room maid He replied that we would do an investigation 🔎 Overall, the only one thing which lets the hotel down is the maid young English girl..

Birthday Break- Fabulous Time. I love this Hotel and it's beautiful decor, the lounge and dining area is perfect to relax in with coffee or a wine. I requested a quiet room if possible and I was given my request, baring in mind this is a city centre hotel and right by the train station so expect some noise, you ain't in the countryside! I still managed to sleep well. I love the charm of this Hotel and it's original features, I booked a last minute two night break for my birthday and I had the best time. I made use of the Spa facilities, jacuzzi, pool, sauna, steam room and plunge pool. Great after a days shopping to chill. I also enjoyed my food in the restaurant each evening. The Hotel is central to EVERYTHING. So the location is perfect. I felt totally at ease as a solo traveller and met lots of lovely people within the Hotel. I arrived on my Birthday and I want to give a very special mention to Keira who works in the restaurant, she is a lovely girl who looked after me so well, kind, caring and friendly, she went above and beyond for me, she's a real asset to the hotel. Thanks for making my birthday so special and the lovely surprise on my dessert! Michael made my lattes each morning and brought them to my table, many thanks Michael! Not forgetting Christine who was fantastic with me, helping carry my bags out of the door for my train. I will certainly be back soon and I hope to see the lovely staff again. It'll be my place of choice even for coffee or a wine if I'm passing by. Also absolutely stunning Christmas Decorations, visiting this time of year is a must! Thank you All!

Room was very hot at times

The decor and layout of the reception & corridors were lovely. The staff were pleasant and friendly. The room was cosy, shower was powerful and hot. The restaurant was wonderful, the waiter who served us was very apologetic when our food was slightly delayed. The food was delicious. Would stay again in the future.

The pillows were too hard, felt like you were sleeping sat up in the night. The duvet was too thin and we found it hard to get it out from under the mattress. The bedside lamp was broken. Some of the TV channels didn’t work or lost connection, possibly due to the snow.

The staff were all friendly and very.helpful. From front staff to chambermaid a everyone was professional and went beyond our expectations. Our suite was large, and the additional dressing room area came in very handy as we dressed to go to a formal family wedding.

The meal in the hotel restaurant was the worst we'd ever been served!! When we mentioned this as feedback rather than a formal complaint the next evening we were given vouchers for free drinks in the cozy lounge. This went a long way to make up for it.

I've stayed here several times previously, so know what to expect from this popular City Centre hotel. Staff are excellent and, apart from the staff member who overcharged me at Reception, are well informed and helpful. Dining Room and Housekeping staff deserve a mention as well as they are all approachable and friendly.

I didn't appreciate being overcharged at Reception, but, when pointed out, this was quickly rectified by other more experienced staff. Room was like an oven when I went in, so the window had to stay open all night which, in turn, meant that there was a fair amount of noise coming from the streets below.

The location is brilliant. It is less than five minutes walk from Newcastle Centre Railway Station. There is access to the Metro at the railway station. There are numerous bus stops within a few minutes walk of the hotel. The hotel is ideally situated for the shopping centre and for numerous eateries. These are walkable. I did not eat breakfast nor an evening meal this stay, although I have when staying in the past . This was because of circumstances not a dislike of the facilities. As a female travelling alone, I felt safe at this hotel.

If I want to be really picky, the noise from the railway station. However, that’s the price that you pay for the city centre location.

Absolutely great location, perfect for when you’ve got loads of luggage, just got off the train and want to quickly check in and lie down! Gorgeous room, such a comfy bed. Really nice bathroom too! Everything was so clean and everything worked perfectly. Love the complimentary coffee, milk and biscuits. Really great bonus is the added gym facilities on site, we checked out left our luggage with reception and went to the gym in the morning to cure our hangover in the cold plunge and sauna, such a treat! Lovely restaurant/bar downstairs too. Highly recommend and all the staff were so lovely. Perfect stay in Newcastle!

Nothing it was all perfect.

I arrived before check-in time so my room wasn't ready. The desk staff offered to look after my bags and ticketed them so I was free to do what I had planned for the afternoon and retrieved my bags on returning to the hotel. I had asked for a quiet room and that is what I got - quite an achievement for a hotel sandwiched between a major railway station and a busy main road. The room was well-appointed and clean. The bed was comfortable and I had a good night's sleep. Dinner in the Empire restaurant was fine.

Just two points. I would have appreciated some labelling about how the bath/shower worked. There were two control knobs - one for temperature and one for flow. It wasn't obvious which was which. There were no bath taps and it wasn't until after I had attempted to have a bath using water from the shower that I discovered the circular gadget at one end was actually a water tap! Also the bath plug didn't fit snugly so the bath water never reached a suitable level and in any case, you had to stand up each time you wanted to use the soap dispenser! Breakfast buffet: There was plenty of everything but the bacon had obviously been sitting there a while and was tough as leather rather than crisp or soft. And sorry, but I like my breakfast tea in a cup rather than a large mug.

The location from the train station couldn't have been more convenient, literally a 2 minute walk. We loved the decor and welcoming atmosphere and friendliness from all staff throughout our stay. We had a bar meal and drinks after checking in so we could soak up the surroundings before heading out for the evening and also had a nightcap before bed. The breakfast was great, lots of choice and great value. The hotel staff offer a service where you can leave your suitcases after checking out and this is a very welcome addition to our stay so we could explore Newcastle before our lunchtime departure. We would recommend staying here again, no doubt about it.

There was a club nearby who played music - loudly - until 1am which, on a Sunday night was surprising. Ear plugs are thoughtfully provided by the hotel but didn't really drown out the sound. Should we stay again - and we would love to - we plan to bring our own.
