Central location, beautiful decor in the lobby and in the room, great staff very helpful with all questions or requests, everything worked great, very nice smelling shower gel/shampoo in the bathroom, clean room and new water/tea/coffee every day, and pretty good value for money (at the time of booking this historic 4* hotel was almost the same price as the Yotel down the street...so for £150 more for a week's stay we got a bathroom with real walls instead of a plastic divider, and enough space around 3 sides of the massive bed...very happy to recommend!

Rumbling of the tram outside the window from 6am until 1am next morning, and we were on the 6th floor, didn't expect to hear anything...it was a low noise not enough to wake you up and we could have asked to be moved to a room away from the front of the building, but we decided the hassle of moving wasn't worth it - just something to note if you are noise-sensitive, ask for a room away from the street.

It’s a beautiful, grand hotel. Our room was clean with neutral decor. We loved the use of the Elemis products in the bathroom. Breakfast was good in the morning and the staff were lovely.

We struggled to warm up the room and it was very expensive for a 1 night stay.

All the high quality you would expect for such a historically prestigious hotel. All the classic glamour with all the updates mod cons. Superior room was spacious and well provided and we thoroughly enjoyed the branded espresso machine in the room to treat ourselves to delicious pod coffees that were supplied with it. Gym is exceptionally resourced (if a little hard to fine) and I spent longer there than planned for this reason. House cocktails were also best I've had (though I'm not a regular cocktail drinker). Also all staff were readily available and very helpful when needed.

Nothing. It was a lovely stay in a lovely hotel for an amazing price.

Great Stay at the Midland Hotel – Just Avoid the Tram Side! I recently stayed at the Midland Hotel in Manchester for two nights while enjoying a weekend in the city, including seeing Peter Kay live. Overall, I had a very good experience at the hotel. From the moment I arrived, the check-in process was smooth and efficient, and the staff were welcoming. The bar area was lovely, with a great atmosphere to unwind in the evening. The location is fantastic, making it easy to explore the city and visit key attractions. The room itself was beautifully presented and very comfortable, but unfortunately, it was positioned on the side of the street where the trams run late into the night and start up again early in the morning (6 AM – 1 AM). This made for a very poor night's sleep, and we had to raise a complaint the next day. To the hotel's credit, they were very accommodating and moved us to another room, where we couldn’t hear the trams at all. Despite this initial issue, I would definitely stay at the Midland Hotel again, but I would make sure to request a room away from the tram line for a quieter experience. ⭐ Overall Rating: 4/5 – A wonderful hotel, great service, and perfect location, just be mindful of the tram noise if you’re a light sleeper!

Check in was very good. I stay here a lot and check in can be a bit hit to miss. The young gentleman was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. It was very nice to see that.

Once in the room, I tried to ring reception but no answer for almost an hour, I had to ring the hotel, just ask if I could get a tooth brush, as I had forgotten mine. The lady who answered was rude and said, just come down for it. I said I was in my PJ's, would it be ok if they brought it up, I can wait if they are busy. She did end up agreeing reluctantly. The gentleman who brought the toothbrush upstairs, was very nice though

The location was perfect, with everything within walking distance. Every member of staff at the hotel was incredibly lovely, welcoming, and helpful, from the bellboy to the man waiting outside with a hat, to the receptionists. It truly felt like a dream experience. A big thank you to all the staff – you made our stay so much easier, from providing robes and slippers to assisting with our luggage and even extending our check-out time. This is probably the first hotel we've stayed at where we've been so impressed with the customer service. Thank you to everyone! :)

The only aspect we weren't very impressed with was the spa facilities and staff. The lady at the spa reception with blonde hair wasn’t very friendly or helpful, and there was a noticeable difference in service compared to the hotel staff. It was quite a contrast in customer care. Additionally, I was quite shocked by how small the spa facilities were. Although we had one hour of free access included with our stay which was very nice and was actually the reason we booked the hotel because of the free spa access and i like that no one questioned how long we stayed. Personally, I don't think I would pay to visit the spa given its size however was a nice touch to include this in the hotel stay its deffinelty attractive

The location of the hotel was great for the Christmas markets and the train station. The building is impressive on the outside and has a feel of grandeur. The reception area and adjacent bar area are comfortable and stylish. I found the room comfortable and well appointed.

There are clear areas needing attention as may be expected from such an old building. The air conditioning and heating in our room were out of order and an air conditioning unit and heater were provided. We were able to heat the bedroom well but it was difficult to get the lounge area warm enough to spend time in.

Lovely hotel, very friendly staff and nice atmosphere and good location. Comfortable beds. We had made slight error with our booking for one of the rooms and the manager was very efficient in fixing it for us and honouring what we thought we had booked. slight delay in the rooms been ready and we were given complimentary drinks at bar as result which was unnecessary as only slight delay but very nice touch all the same. Would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Manchester.

The spa was nice but the booking time slot in advance to use pool and facilities does impact the stay, I appreciate it's small space but feel they could be more flexible. On our last morning not all party went down yet they would not allow other couple to use space saying it was booked up even though 3 of our party did not use pool at that time ... Something to be mindful of. Also water pressure is a little on the weaker but again nothing major.

Lovely room, helpful staff. Clean and comfortable

Room wasn’t particularly warm. We visited when temperatures were around 3-6degrees and the room just didn’t get warm. We’d booked an upgraded room and for the price would have expected bathrobes. The V&A provide these for rooms of a similar price. Breakfast was ok but no table service offered to us for tea or coffee, very busy and only one drink machine working. Breakfast self service area got very congested. I’d say we prefer the V&A. The car park pre booking didn’t work with the discount code. In fact on the app it was nearly £70 pre booking and refused the discount code. In the booking from the Midland it said £20 pre book with code. It’s absolutely not. We paid £40 for 24hrs on leaving the car park.
