The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was excellent especially that most of the produce used was from with a few miles. My son who doesn't usually pay compliments said it was the best English breakfast he had ever had. Keith, the owner, was friendly and considerate and made us feel incredibly welcome. Will definitely stay here again on our next trip up. Thank you

The only miniscule thing was that the curtain, in the family room we were in, was not blackout. Not normally an issue, but there was a light directly outside the window, which was very bright so the room was lit up fairly brightly. Although to be fair, I have no idea if it turns off later in the night. That said, once we fell asleep we didn't notice anymore and slept like babies until the sun came streaming through the window and woke us up. I love the sun so a nice way to wake up.

Our stay was absolutely perfect. Keith, the owner, was on hand to greet us when we arrived and recommended several places to eat in the village. The room was amazing, and this is how a B&B should be - plenty of choice of hot drinks in room, homemade biscuits, and cold water. The milk bottle available in the cool box on top of the stair was ideal. The bed was so comfortable, and a nice touch of bath robes available for us. The breakfast was cooked fresh to your time with fresh local produce and fresh eggs.

Didn't want to leave!!!

Keith and Pauline were great hosts, very welcoming and friendly. The room and ensuite were clean and spacious and they provided some extra touches which were very much appreciated. I liked the way they had themed the rooms, each one being named after an old stamp and decorated accordingly. (They are The Old Post Office after all!) Their home is beautifully decorated with lots of knick-knacks and art work. There were several choices for breakfast which was delicious. They are situated in a beautiful area with good access to the City of Durham and Beamish Museum.

We were a little cold in the evening.

Host was very welcoming and friendly, He cooked the breakfast the next day which was hot, cooked to order and was lovely The old post office is in a very good spot for cafes, pubs and Italian restaurant which we pre booked as it gets very busy, We will definitely use this b&b again to visit Beamish and the plentiful walks.

The stairs next to our room are bit close to the door so could be a hazard if your not paying attention but it's an old building and comes with the territory

Fantastic little place to stop in, Keith is perfectly friendly and informative, giving you a quick guide around the place Parking is out the back but also on the front street if you can find a space (we stopped on a Saturday so busier than usual I imagine) Room very clean, everything provided, towels, kettle, tea/coffee - room is very quiet despite it's on the main street (we were in Twopence Blue) as there are shutters on the window Just great, wish I was going back for another wedding!!

This B & B is an absolute gem and we are so glad we found it! The room was beautiful, spacious and full of character. The facilities were exceptional, especially the hospitality tray, complimentary chocolates, gorgeous home made biscuits, bottled water, fresh milk, coffee machine and every type of beverage you could wish for! Everything was spotless and we loved the room and character of the whole building. Keith was the perfect host and made a fabulous breakfast as well as making us feel very welcome on arrival. The location is perfect only a few miles from Beamish where we spent the day on Saturday. There is parking outside without restriction and the village itself is lovely ( we would recommend Ravellos for an evening meal, superb!! ) We loved this accommodation and would return without hesitation. Thank you Keith and Pauline for a lovely stay.

Nothing.

Breakfast was freshly cooked. Top notch. A real pleasure to stay and will definitely be back. I would re ommemd to everyone

Everything about The Old Post Office was great. The room was very spacious and comfortable, nicely appointed and with two big armchairs and extra little touches that were much appreciated. Our hosts were especially friendly and helpful and breakfast was delicious. The location was really good- Lanchester is a pretty little town, with the guesthouse right in the main street [and close to a great Greek restaurant] and not far from Durham.

The host Keith was very attentive and welcoming. The rooms were cosy and the decor is super! The welcome tray is extensive and includes home made biscuits which were delicious! The linen towel and bathrobes are fab. All in all you can tell every last detail has been thought about. The breakfast which was included in the rate was of a high standard, home made bread and marmalade and Keith advises all ingredients are locally sourced. If you ever visit Lanchester and need a place to stay you would be missing so much if you didn’t book your stay at the Old Post Office highly recommend
