Decent sized room, lots of wardrobe space! Very efficient heating system, warmed up nice and quickly! Shower nice and powerful, decent size bathroom. Staff very friendly and welcoming and super helpful . Superb price for a city centre hotel, good value for money!

Furniture in room a little bit worn and dated but not really an issue. Bathroom light was quite dull, made the bathroom feel quite dingy. Noise from the outside could be heard fairly easily, especially pedestrian crossings however not the worst thing and to be expected with a city centre hotel.

Location. Bar facility and decor in reception area

Reception on second floor. Had to take steps to access elevator. Parking a distance away. No water or glasses in room. Poor lighting. Insuficient power points to charge mobile phones. Only one at a time. No bedside chatging facilities

Perfect location in the very centre of the city and all the pubs, restaurants and shops close by, lovely staff, very comfortable beds. Rooms were very large with plenty of storage space. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room as well as ironing board and hairdryer. Bathroom had body wash, shampoo & Conditioner.

Luckily we were on 7th floor so sound wasn’t too loud but if we were lower it would have been a difficult stay as so loud being right in the centre of the nightlife some of which we could hear at 4am. Bathroom grouting could do with a good scrub and shower pressure was low. Lifts were a bit dated and there were steps down into the building and to lifts so those with disabilities or mobility issues might struggle.

The hotel is very well located for a stay in Cardiff, being only a short stroll from the railway station, its taxi rank and the central bus station. It's in the heart of the city, so an evening out is easy. The hotel staff were very friendly and the room was clean, comfortable and tidy. Breakfast had a reasonable selection of cooked options, cereals and some fruit available to deal with most needs too. We stayed on two separate occasions in one week and it suited us well, so we'd happily stay there again.

I think the only negative point, which isn't really the hotels doing, is the address arrangement. The postal address & main front door is on one side of the building, but if you put Royal Hotel Cardiff into most satnav systems, it takes you to the door on the other side in Westgate Street. Not a problem if you're on foot or arriving by taxi, but it seems to cause problems if you're ordering a taxi pick-up. Just be clear when booking the cab.

The hotel was centrally located with literally everything around us—pubs, cafes, shops, a castle, shopping centres, bus and train stations, an arena, and more. I was initially worried about noise, but thanks to the double windows, we didn't hear anything from the streets, even during Advent weekend. The staff was friendly, and the cleaners did a great job. The check-in/out process was quick and easy. We had a bath and shower 2-in-1, which was a great feature for me. The room came with three pillows of different softness levels and an amazingly soft but warm duvet. Breakfast was lovely, with a wide variety of ingredients. The hotel also had a bar with a nice view of the shopping street. Another great point was that we could enjoy food we ordered from outside in the comfort of the bar. Highly recommended!

Perfect location centrally- very close to the start of the Half marathon - and attractions. Helpful reception.

Breakfast could be better organized. The small coffeemaker was much too small to accommodate the guests at breakfast. Long queue to get coffee - and it ran out of beans and water frequently. Also food trays were empty for a very long time before being replaced with full trays. Seemed very much that there was shortage of staff at breakfast. Shower: The floor got very wet when having a shower — the shower protection was too short to prevent water from splashing out onto the floor. As there was no drain in the floor we had to wipe the water up with towel and wring it several times over the tub

Location is excellent, especially because we don’t drive and travelled by train. Even though the hotel is in the town centre it’s so quiet and relaxing inside. The room we stayed in was lovely and had everything we needed. The breakfast was lovely. Sunday there was a great selection and was topped up regularly. The pastries were delicious. Great selection of jams and other condiments. Having a fridge in the room was excellent and very useful. The bed was very comfortable. We loved our stay at the hotel.

The pillows were a little hard but that’s personal preference. The sofa had a throw over it but underneath it showed it was very worn, maybe needs replacing seeing it’s in a more expensive room. The breakfast was lovely but on Monday things weren’t being replaced as quickly as they did on Sunday. We went for breakfast at 9am and there were a few that came down later than us. The eggs took a while to be replaced, same for the baked beans and the bread for toasting. We had scrambled eggs on Sunday but we didn’t have that option on Monday.

Great location right in the commercial centre of Cardiff, close to the rugby stadium, Arena and shops. The hotel was quiet and we were not disturbed by noise outside or within the hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Comfortable beds and good size bathrooms. Checkout was at 11am so plenty of time for a lie-in!

I thought the breakfast was quite pricey at £14 each, so we went out for breakfast. I’d also have liked something to put the suitcase on, other than the bed or desk as I didn’t want to dirty/damage these with the wheels. It’s worth knowing that the hotel reception is on the 2nd floor, above various bars and shops, so although the hotel is sizeable and within an impressive building, the entrance doesn’t have the street presence you might expect.

Definitely, the location. Almost everything is within walking distance (i.e., the Victorian + Edwardian arcades, Cardiff Castle, National Cardiff Museum, bars, restaurants, etc.). We loved our room; it was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast selection and liked the dining area (i.e., it had a small area dedicated to Capt. RF Scott, a British navy officer who led two expeditions to the Antarctic regions).

Not dislike per se but just a heads up: the hotel can be a maze, so explore the stairs when you can.

The bedrooms were very comfortable and clean and very spacious loved the room I stayed on the 4th floor in room 416 also the hotel location was excellent perfect central to all restaurants and bars and the shopping centers the hotel staff were great and very friendly and so helpful will stay in this hotel again especially for it's location 😀

The breakfast could have been better found the food to be a little on the cold side also the hot water for tea wasn't to warm either also the hotel bar closed too early no longer opening hours for hotel residents also the disabled excess not great 1 of our group has a disability and was difficult at times
