The staff was wonderful. Faruk went out of his way to assist with directions and activities, as well as coordinating the transfer. My wife and i needed a pharmacy on a Sunday when most are closed. He assisted with directions as well as calling to ensure they had what we rewuired before we walked there. Emre, Ibrahim and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned daily, with towels being replaced. Breakfast offered a variety of food and we were able to have a good breakfast each day. The location is unbelievable, which allowed for us to explore many sights without needing any transport. The hotel is also walking-distance to a variety of restaurants and take-aways.

The room was slightly smaller than expected, and didn't have a view however this was not selected when booking, and did not affect our stay very much.

Such a nice stay at Tan Hotel. Great rooftop breakfast, overlooking Sultanahmed, always open. Kind and helpful staff from the front desk, housekeeping, to the restaurant. Incredible beds in the renovated rooms. Silent to sleep well. And great location. All my praise to Tan Hotel. Hope they keep the competitive prices so I can come back. Thank you!

The room was cozy, with a spacious terrace. I liked the breakfast, the neighbourhood, personal was polite and pleasant to interact with. Location it top notch—historical city center in few minutes walk.

The location is perfect! In the middle of everything! You can walk to almost every place of the old city. We're walkers so we walked from the hotel to Taksim square in a full day. But for normal people you can start your day by visiting Agia Sophia and Blue Mosque, then walk up to Kapali Carsi and then head to the Egyptian Spice market easliy. The people working at the hotel are like most of the people in Istanbul. AWESOME! Friendly, Polite, Kind, Helpful, always with a Smile on their face and always ready to Give you any kind of advice you want.

Rooms need renovation but they're still in a really good condition. Also don't bite with the reviews of the nearby restaurants. They're not offering good food quality and they overprice everything. But this has nothing to do with the hotel.

Really enjoyed our stay at Tan. Best location, walking distance to all the main sights in Istanbul. Lovely clean rooms. The staff were exceptionally helpful and a pleasure to deal with, especially Farouk in the mornings, who did everything to answer our many questions with patience and kindness. The terrace is a lovely place to spend time over breakfasts, though it is currently not set up for evening service. The breakfast offering had a wide selection and everything was delicious. We stayed twice, on arrival into Istanbul and again after we had travelled around Turkey for a couple of weeks. We were very happy come back to Tan and we definitely plan to stay again on our next trip.

The photos show the terrace at night time but it was not set up for any kind of evening service while we were there.

The location is excellent; a short walk to the Blue Mosque, Haga Sophia, Topkapi and Grand Bazaar. Lots of good eating options around the hotel. We arrived at 2.00 am and there was a staff member available to check us in and was helpful with adjusting the heating. The next morning the reception changed one of the rooms with which we were not satisfied (had 2 single beds and we preferred a double). The rooms have contemporary furnishing and are very comfortable, especially the 06 and 07 rooms on each floor. The only shortcoming was the lack of hooks in the bathroom for hanging towels and clothing. The breakfast had a good variety and the view is excellent from the dining area. All the staff members were very helpful and responded promptly to any request. Overall an excellent option, good value for money, that we would highly recommend.

Excellent location - very close to a Tram station and the Blue Mosque. Staff are incredibly helpful, positive in their attitude and quick to respond. The beds were very comfy, the shower was decent - not power shower - but good enough. The breakfast was most enjoyable - Muesli, local cornflakes, a few different bread types, hand made biscuits, cakes and a good range of fruit, vegetables, cheeses and meat slices. And roof top breakfast area was the cherry on the top - with views of the Bosphorus strait and minarets! The breakfast staff - Fatima and Masud - always welcoming, friendly and helpful. Front desk staff and cleaning staff also very positive and helpful. I reported a faulty hairdryer and the staff member arrived at my room door within minutes, confirmed the fault and returned with a working one within a few minutes. One day it started raining as soon as we left the hotel - so we quickly hurried back in. Before I even had a chance to ask, the staff member offered us two umbrellas - mind reader! Thank you!

Nothing to really complain about - but just a few suggestions for improvements... When we arrived at midnight, it would have been nice if the front desk staff came out and helped us carry the suitcases up the entrance stairs and again after checking, if they could have help take the suitcases up the steps to the 2nd lift. Please provide more clothes hangers in the room - six hangers for a couple staying more than 1-2 days is not enough. Please remove the photo of the swimming pool from the Booking.com site - as there was no sign of a swimming pool at the hotel - not a big deal, but was a little disappointed. Also, the room lighting could be improved - a bit too dark for our liking - even with all the lights on.

It's near a busy street full of restaurants and cafes and it can be quite noisy at night.

I booked the hotel after reading all the great reviews and it did not disappoint. In fact it exceeded my expectations. After booking, I was added to the hotel WhatsApp account through which I was able to maintain constant contact with the staff to make arrangements from Canada. My wife was arriving earlier so I booked the shuttle separately and asked to accommodate an early check in since she was travelling alone. The staff was very kind and accommodated this request and even included a few breakfast for her. I was very reassured that she was safe traveling alone. The breakfast was an excellent balance of nutritious and healthy food. There were standard coffee, scrambled eggs, puff pastry and toast daily for the hot portion of the meal. There was a good variety of cheeses, green veggies, dips deli meat and fruits for the cold breakfast. The location was excellent! Every tourist location on the old city was accessible by foot and it is very easy to use the tram to cross to the other side of the city to view other tourist locations. If there was some more traditional Turkish food on the buffet it would've been excellent.
