Blu Monkey Hub and Hotel Phuket - SHA Extra Plus

Extremely comfortable bed. On the quieter side of Phuket town near the old bus hub. Bikes available for use as the walk into old town center is about 10 mins. Feels like a grown up version of a hostel with nice library and co-working space.

Pool on the smaller side (mainly for chilling and not for laps). The hotel is starting to show wear and tear. Cracked tiles and some stains. The sink outside of the bathroom set up was a bit inconvenient to use.

*Written as part of the Sandbox Programme experience* Super comfortable beds. Clean facilities and clean, good sized bedroom with powerful electric air conditioner. Sink is separate from the toilet / shower. TV has good choice of channels. Decent sized balcony with bathtub where you can hang clothes for drying. Balanced American style breakfast with fruit and salad provided. Free bananas and drinks including cold bottled water, coffee, Milo, tea, orange / apple juice. 24 hours gym, swimming pool, self-service laundry / dryer and co-working space. Lots of parking space outside hotel. Good speed Wi-Fi. Great location (about 5 minutes walk to Old Town). Restaurants, 7/11, Limelight Avenue mall and Phuket Bus Terminal nearby. The hotel even provides a detailed map of Phuket town and will lend you a big umbrella! Reasonably friendly staff who are very helpful.

Very poor lighting in the bedroom (often unable to find / see things) and table space small. Toilet seat was broken and loose. Significant dust in the bathroom and shower is fairly weak and not at a constant temperature (changes between hot and cold). Soap for washing hands is not provided. Makes a loud noise when closing the room door. Breakfast menu fixed and was often cold. Swimming pool is quite small. Wi-Fi occasionally disconnects and must log in every time when connecting to it.

Excellent location nearby old Phuket town. Fantastic pasta place right next door that's open until 10pm. 24/7 self-service laundry available. Free bananas almost always available 24/7 Free 2 small bottles of water daily when they clean your room. The air con was good. Decent shower pressure. Most of the staff can speak decent English. There is a lift in the building to help move your luggage around. The indoor aesthetics is neat. Pool available most of the day.

Wifi availability is intermittent at best and not reliable. Luckily we had our own esim connected to the local mobile data and used hot spot to get by. There is a slight odor on arrival but not their fault that there is a river/creek nearby. You do get used to it. Unfortunately the smell was noticeable on the balcony with the hot tub so we did not get to use it at all. (Some may have privacy concerns using the hot tub as it is semi exposed). Noise control is minimal - if there are inconsiderate guests, you can hear them walking past the hallway.

I loved the very modern cubistic design which was kept in black and white throughout the hotel. The room was very spacious as was the shared working and reception area. There were sockets everywhere to plug in your computer. In the room you had a kettle, a French press, a fridge, tv and aircon. A special feature was the bathtub that was located on the balcony! The bathroom offered a large walk-in shower. A complimentary breakfast bar with coffee, tea, cereals, toast, some Thai palm leaf rolls, eggs, salad, joghurt and juices/water was situated next to the reception. The hot/cold beverages could be consumed all day for free. The pool was small but sufficient. I found the staff, especially Choke, very service minded and helpful. The gym only offered 2 cardio machines (no weights).

The room doors could only be closed with a loud “bang” from the outside which was annoying at night.

Hotel location is a short walk from historic Phuket, there are few sidewalks so it's not an enjoyable walk, but it's not bad either. Free bananas and purified water in the lobby. The room is exactly as expected, basic...but clean and the A/C worked well. They provided 2 bottles of drinking water in the room fridge.

Breakfast is basic with boring white bread slices, instant coffee and everything had meat on it. We asked the receptionist if we could get something without meat and she said not today but she would tell the kitchen for the next days. The next day there were eggs without meat and tomatoes. So all good. We walked to the nearby french bakery for a beautiful loaf of sourdough which we used as our breakfast toast.

The Staff is super friendly and professional, especially their Manager Doy and Bua.. made the stay very comfortable. The Amenities and Room are just enough to make your stay comfortable

Nice pool, nice breakfast, free bottles of water and bananas, kind staff, clean rooms, and modern style.

No fridge in the room and no vegetarian/vegan breakfast options.

The fact that we booked months in advance with a request of receiving the top floor, and they delivered! So far, everything we wanted, asked for was always provided! The hotel staff, the cleaning facilities, everyone was great and sweet and they were always helpful. The hotel is centrally located and there's so much to discover! It was a lovely stay, we will come again! The room was super big, the bed was really big, and very comfortable, with huge fluffy pillows, perfect for a pillow fight! The fact that there is a shower and also a bathtub on the balcony is just a highlight that you do not get to see everyday! The hotel is really clean, modern and is an eye catcher from outside too! I already miss it and wish we could go back and stay a little longer! Next time definitely!

Modern stylish hotel which is located few minutes by walking from Phuket Old Town. Also great location, in case you would like to take a taxi/order trips with shuttle bus service for some trips around Phuket. Bananas and some cold drinks available for free throughout whole stay.

Overall, the hotel looks really nice. The only negative thing I would like to mention - if you want to use the bathtub on the balcony, go swim in the pool or sit outside to eat the breakfast, there is a quite strong smell, especially throughout the hot day, probably from some sewer right behind the building. The balcony has a smell and hotel also sells the aromatic foam for the bath, but still it didn’t help with covering it.
