Design Hotel Plattenhof

very clean, perfect location at ten minutes walk from the center. staff super kind and super friendly.

no air conditioned. the “wall” between the bathroom and the bedroom is just made of glass, so you cannot switch on the light in the bathroom at night without disturbing who is sleeping, and the floor of the shower is very smooth and gets slippery. the owner is very rude, he bumped in me twice at breakfast and did it just like I was on his way, not the minimum impulse of saying sorry. breakfast is expensive but very good, worth the money.

The hotel was quite nice. A good design of spaces, comfortable beds and clean bathroom. The bathtub was a good size for soaking and I did...The bar serving coffee and drinks is a nice addition and the restaurant was quite good. I did not include breakfast so I don't know how that was. It was quiet even being located near the university and hospital. I'd stay again

The dining hours were limited which did not meld with my schedule but there are other options though not nearby. The coffee and tea in room was adequate and similar to others though being a coffee drinker I wanted better coffee.

Hotel is a little bit away from the Old town and river. I was there on a Saturday/Sunday and the few restaurants around the hotel and the hotel restaurant were all closed. Walk to old town restaurants is at least 15 mins away. Hotel is ideally suited for people visiting the University as this hotel is in the middle of all the University buildings. Though hotel itself was fine, would recommend choosing a hotel in Old Town if you are a tourist.

A very nice hotel and good value for money considering the central location (and price of Zurich accommodation generally!). Size of the room was good although the bathroom was pretty cramped, overall a pleasant stay for a couple of days.

The pillows were probably the worst I've ever slept on, basically like sleeping on air. I'm not sure if it's just this hotel or most in Zurich but there was no air conditioning and although they provided a fan, it was pretty warm in the room.

Great location, which was close enough to walk from the station (or trammable 6 stops on the no.6) and quiet, with good transport links. Robert on reception was helpful from the moment we arrived in sweltering heat offering us a cold drink (ice cold water with a lemon that actually tasted of lemon!) through to check out. Comfortable room. Not massive, but sizeable enough with a sparkling clean bathroom and huge shower. Very nice stay!

This hotel was a very pleasant surprise, exceeding our expectations. Friendly, helpful staff. A nice size room with a spacious bathroom with all the necessities supplied. A kettle with coffee and tera making facilities, which is not common in Europe was sincerely appreciated. Location is a little out of the city which we were concerned about until we discovered how easy the trams are to use and how convenient this hotel was to the tram route. On the other had it is on the hill away from the hustle and bustle of the city. A lovely little restaurant attached to the hotel should you wish to not go too far in the evening. And a sumptuous breakfast served in the restaurant, offering everything you could imagine! Thankyou, this was the best place we stayed during our travels. Extra note - if you are doing anything to do with the University, this is the place to say - super convenient.

Nothing, super choice.

Hotel Plattenhof was perfect for me. It’s not bling but real and comfortable. I thought the bathroom was perfect - none of this long distance trek to the shower. The staff were wonderful. I took me only fifteen minutes to walk to the train station but it is also a gorgeous park up the hill from the hotel - another fifteen minute walk.

It took me a while to adjust to the sound of the front door closing.

I stayed here with my kids just for a night before going up to the mountains. Quiet calm street in a good location. Very close to the wonderful art museum and fantastic zoo which worked well for us. Friendly staff and good food, nice breakfast. Enjoyed the design too. Dinner was expensive for what it was but perhaps more a reflection of Switerland than the hotel itself. Room spacious and comfortable.

Great location, staff was really nice and helpful. the breakfast was really nice. Staff was really helpful with late check in. The room was large and facilities comfy. The pillow menu was a really nice touch.

There was no air conditioning on a really really hot week. I understand it is not usual to have AC in Switzerland so it is fine and there was a fan provided. But it is worth flagging for future stays.

Bedroom was lovely and dark, and quiet. DVD player and selection of old DVDs in reception to borrow. Friendly helpful staff who are good in multiple languages.

Uphill walk about 1km from Sechseläutenplatz, which I was fine with, but others may find a challenge. No door on the bathroom which was unusual, but perhaps it's because I was in a single room.
