Modern Times Hotel Vevey

The location of the hotel, parking adjacent to the hotel, size of the room, very good breakfast.

I did not like the shape of the bathroom and toilets. There is one glass door that moves whether it is towards the bathroom or towards the toilet. The door is also not sealed so there is no privacy. When you want to get out of the shower the one in the room sees you naked through a large mirror that is in the closet so there is no privacy at all. There is no kettle in the room, there is an espresso machine, so those who want to drink regular tea or coffee cannot drink at all.

Very comfortable beds and was great to have water fountains available on each floor. Rooms were very clean and serviced daily. Easy parking both on ground level and underground both barrier controlled and at extra cost. Pets very welcome also additional cost. Very close to the local train which was a bonus as the weather was very wet. Also within walking distance to Vevey about 35 minutes downhill.

Only 1 expresso cup and 1 small coffee cup per room with 2 capsules per day provided. Bar was closed at 10.15 pm when we arrived back from eating in Vevey. Breakfast had excellent cold choice of food but dried up offerings for cooked bacon and eggs. Luckily we had plenty other options. 20chf per day charged for our dog was a bit steep.

We had a very spacious room, with large windows and a great view to the mountains. The design of the room is very chic and included elements from the Charlie Chaplin movie "Modern Times". I loved that they have water fountains installed on each floor in the hotel, to fill up your bottle with still or sparkling water from the water reserves nearby. Also, the hotel is perfectly located in a calm area up on the hill, but at 3 minutes walk from the train station that takes you in downtown Vevey.

The shower area is nicely done, like a separated room right next to the toilet cabin and the sink area, but there is no door for it, which can get the bathroom floor wet.

Modern Times Hotel is a recent development with comfortable, light and spacious rooms (and some superb views, particularly on the garden side). The hotel facilities and room furnishings are modern, in very good condition and provide for a very comfortable stay. We have found all the staff whom we've encountered to be friendly and helpful and this contributes to the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. Although located on the edge of Vevey (close to the main autoroute along Lake Geneva and connecting directly to the Bern autoroute), the hotel provides travel cards for the region and there is a good local rail service connecting to Vevey town centre which we have used several times to enjoy the lakeside atmosphere in Vevey. The hotel restaurant, which is also used for breakfast (a pretty extensive buffet), is modern, airy and relaxed. We have stayed here on numerous occasions when travelling through this region on longer trips (so we also appreciate the excellent parking availability) and have never been disappointed.

We have found nothing to complain about.

Our room was a good size, very comfortable bed and excellent bedding. Very user-friendly bathrooms - great shower and perfect placing of lighting/mirror/additional mirror for make-up application. Good storage. We enjoyed the bar - beautiful decor with comfortable seating - very relaxed and good staff. Excellent menu in the restaurant - we took our friends there for dinner (including a child) and all enjoyed it immensely. Reception staff extremely friendly and helpful.

It would be good to have a small coffee shop as well as the restaurant.

Its a great, new and comfortable hotel - rooms are big, beds are comfortable, good shower and amenities. Good cost-benefit for the region. Also, we informed our little dog would be joining us, and there was a little bed and food/water bowls waiting for him. While the hotel is not in city center, the drive there is only 5 minutes, and there is also a train station super close. Family had the breakfast buffet one day and was very happy with it. Staff was always very helpful!

We felt very much at ease in this hotel, you need a car to stay there since it is outside a village near Vevey. The guests are a mix of business people (individuals and seminars) and tourists (also groups). The breakfast buffet is great. Very friendly staff. Vevey is about 5 min. drive with a lively lake promenade and many restaurants. Great atmosphere in summer! If you appreciate a quiet room at night, we can recommend a room with garden view, it was perfect.

Nice staff, comfortable beds & towels, very clean & close to transportation

They comment that a pet fee may apply. The fact that they avoid saying a charge or amount and say it MAY apply led us to believe that in some cases there is no fee (perhaps for smaller pets). We only had a 7 pound small dog and was surprised the fee was 30 francs per night. We felt this is excessive for a small pet. They need to remove the comment that a pet fee may apply and just be clearer and say there is a pet fee of 30 per night. I question why they do it this way and think it's misleading. They also had coffee in the room and no tea bags like most hotels.

We have been here many times now. Our experiences have been varied, but we still return because the staff listen to any complaints we have had and deal with them appropriately. The parking in this area of Switzerland is, in our opinions too expensive. The room was just fine and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was not quite as good as last time we came. The hot buffet was limited.

Nice and pleasant room. Nicely decorated. Beautiful view with a bit of lake view. Room nicely equiped. Very confortable bed with enough pillows Coffee machine included with a few capsules of personal use. Breakfast was great ! Besides very lovely location

Poor number of channels on the TV.... maybe just 25 channels.... so very poor given the possibility nowadays to offer much more. A bit noisy due to the ventilation.... Dinner at the hotel was just OK.... nothing special and far too expensive.... at least 20% over priced given the quality and the type of preparation.
