Hotel Cornavin Geneve

The location is fantastic, so convenient for getting around Geneva with amazing tram, rail links and so much within walking distance It's superbly clean The breakfast room is superb, lovely views from the top of the building It's quite a cool place, a real period piece which is immaculately maintained

It doesn't really feel like a 4* hotel in that there's nothing luxurious about it at all, quite utilitarian and a lot of brown everywhere. Rooms are furbished with quality materials but are minimalist and somewhat spartan - no pictures on the walls, minimal pillows/ cushions and a minuscule TV from about 15 years ago.

This hotel is very convenient for the train station, which is just a few steps away. The room was clean and had nearly everything we needed for a one night stay.

The one thing we did miss, being Brits, was milk for a cup of tea. The creamer sachets weren’t our preferred option.

Super close to the station so ideal if you are travelling to/from there. It is an old-style hotel but that is what makes it so great. Generous sized room with a large bathroom (and even a bath!) as well as cupboard space and floor space for bags. There was even a flip down desk - also huge. But great that could flip it up to move it out of the way if needed. Hotel was really quiet even though the room looked out to the railway lines. All in all, a good stay.

Not a lot of breakfast variety. Allergy information was not very accessible or accurate so we didn't eat there in the end.

The location was exceptional for what we needed, right beside the train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we arrived 2 hours before check in and we were offered a room straight away. However I asked for a room with a view and they changed without issue as I was willing to wait until normal check in hours for it. The room was very clean and quiet. We heard no other noise from the hotel for the 2 nights we were there. The beds were very comfortable and there was a safe and a mini bar. The view from the 8th floor was beautiful.

The bathroom seemed strange initially as it had glass walls but it was still private, however, the glass door could not either close or lock. . We had to put the bin in front of the door to keep it closed which was strange, without that it swung open. 😂😂😂. There were no extra pillows, and we needed to iron a shirt but didn't find out until after check out that the iron is located on the first floor in a dedicated ironing room. The 2 single beds were touching which was not the best as I was sharing a room with my teenage son and had asked for 2 single beds. But the bedding was individual. Small inconveniences that would not put us off returning. We would absolutely book in here again if we return to Geneva.

The first major positive of Hotel Cornavin was its location, a 2 minute walk from the train station. This was perfect since we were staying overnight there to see a bit of Geneva before we flew home to the US on a 9 AM flight. Second was the staff. All of the staff members at the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. They also helped each other to help us when we had questions. They were a great team. Finally, the room, while plain, was comfortably furnished.

After dinner we wanted to retire to our room for a little TV before our morning flight. The tv was basically a computer monitor -- we were very surprised at its small size. But we would have been content with that if it had worked. Instead, the reception was terrible -- the picture frequently pixilated and blurred as if it were a poor wireless connection and yet it was on a wire. But still, overall, its a very nice place to stay.

The location of the hotel is excellent, steps away from the train station and walking distance to the lake. A lot of nearby restaurants and cafes to choose from. The triple room we stayed in was spacious, clean and had large windows to enjoy the view of the city.

Staff of the hotel was not friendly at all. We literally passed them by many times during our stay and not once did anyone greet us or smiled at us. Usually the front desk would share some useful information about the city and things to do. They made no such attempt. We had a similar experience in Zurich as well. Maybe it’s just the way it is in Switzerland.

staff was very nice and helpful. location is very good for access to train and about an 8-10 minute walk to lake. lots of shopping off all kinds available.

had requested no feathers. had feather pillows and quilts. talked to front desk before leaving for the evening. when we returned, a non-feather pillow has been left but all feather pillows and blankets were still there. Called the front desk and it was resolved. I think it was a front desk-housekeeping communication blip. a minor problem.

I have stayed here several times before therefore it would be hard for the hotel now to exceed my expectations. I stay here because it is close to the train station and Bike Switzerland where I rent a bicycle for use in Switzerland. The 6 am start to the breakfast period is very much appreciated to facilitate an early get-away. The rooms are spacious. The hotel lets me leave my carry-on in their storage room while I am away biking. There is a bike rack in the lobby which is helpful.

Everything is satisfactory at this hotel.

The location was superb, as we arrived from France by train, and were traveling to the Geneva airport the following morning. Loved being in the heart of downtown for walking to the lake and eating at restaurants. Front desk staff were very helpful to get our free travel passes. Breakfast room was a lovely room with panoramic views of the city. Room was spacious and the bed was quite comfortable.

The shower was challenging to get in and out of with such a high tub side.

We booked two single rooms at the hotel for my colleague and I, and we were lucky enough to be given rooms at the 8th floor with exceptional views of Place Cornavin and the surrounding area. The rooms were very comfortable and the location of the hotel was superb!

The heat was on 24/7 and we couldn't turn it off from our rooms. We were able to open up the big window the first couple of days but then it was closed shut by the staff and we couldn't reopen it. It was way too warm inside.
