Hotel Pilar Plaza

We really enjoyed being in the center of the city right in the plaza de Pilar. We could see the Cathedral from our large balcony windows. The city was quiet the location was unbeatable and the price for the room was super affordable. The staff treated us nicely and let us check in very early because we arrived on the early train at 6am. It was a central location and I would say that it is a really good option to consider. The city of course was excellent and provided so many options for food, fun, museums and shopping. My favorite was the Goya museum since he is one of my favorite artist and this is the city he was born in.

Our room shower did not drain that night we spent there so it was uncomfortable for me to take a shower since the water pooled at my feet. The staff however did give us another room key so that we could shower in. They solved the problem but it was just an unfortunate situation to deal with in the evening. Other than that it was all excellent.

Between Barcelona and Madrid, we decided to stay in this town. Our expectation was a sleepy little town. Boy was I wrong. It is a hustling and bustling place! The hotel was located right in the middle of the square facing the huge church in the old town. With open window, so much noise, but the sound insulation was very good, and we had no problem with the noise when we didn't want to hear it. Comfy bed, comfy bathroom, friendly staff. No complaints.

I wish the old town is closer to the train station...nothing anyone can do about it. We decided to walk for about 40 min. Looked like the public transportation took about the same amount of time. Didn't know how to use taxi/uber alternative.

Carmen on reception was professional ,efficient and friendly. She explained everything clearly and helped with car parking arrangements. Location is excellent for local bars and restaurants as well as the magnificent cathedral.

Excellent situation to explore everywhere on foot. Brilliant view over the Basilica definitely worth the extra cost. Reception staff excellent, also the housekeepers.

All the room fittings pretty ancient, the air conditioner especially was on borrowed time. Room rather cramped. But having said that it was much as expected for the price in the excellent situation. Parking cost was significantly reduced by the hotel but the arrangements demand a certain level of physical fitness..

The reception staff were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had a trip planned to the Aljaferia Palace which would have been unsuccessful without the help of Victoria who pointed out that it needed to be booked in advance. She made the booking for us and obtained the appropriate Senior's discount. The other staff were also very helpful with parking issues and when the room TV went off-line the young man on the desk fixed it instantly. The same applies to the breakfast staff and room cleaner, a great team who added value to our stay. A terrific breakfast spread which set you up for the day. For location and value I don't think you could choose a better hotel.

Sadly the only issue that stopped me awarding a 10 was the shower unit in the en-suite bathroom was 'suffering' from a significant amount of black mould, the multifunction spray facility was inoperative/broken and the door rollers were worn, misaligned and stiff to operate and failed to fully close the screen doors.

Great hotel, very nice in a great location - just in front of the Cathedral El Pilar, which is beatifully illuminated at night. Very nice hospitality of the staff and a great help!! Thanks!! Very good breakfast with a variety of dishes. Be aware about parking, which is just below the Plaza in which the hotel resides, Please wait for E-mail of directions to the Parking, in which you can get a large discount as a hotel guest. If not received - just ask the reception for directions.

The Hotel needs some repair. Air conditioning units need a replacement and modernization as soon as posible. That will create a cost effective usage and more comfortable stay for hotel clientele. The AC can not keep up with the rising temperatures during the Summer. Solar panels can be use to even out the electrical consumption during the summer.

On my first night I had a room with a courtyard view which was quite but I wanted a view of the magnificent Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar and I transferred to a room on the first floor with the view of the square and the basilica ! The location of the hotel was perfect. Since I drove my car coming from the south of France , the staff recommended the Indigo parking just below the del Pilar square underneath the Basilica . It was perfect . I was in Bilbao also last year last November but this trip to Zaragoza is better. The hotel is 2 minutes from the Goya museum and just in front of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pilar and not far from La Seo Cathedral . The staff were multilingual and they all spoke perfect English. A young receptionist even spoke fluent French. Although my room with a view was almost perfect , it was a bit noisy since it's facing the Basilica and the busy square . There is also an Apple Store ( the main purpose of my trip) in Puerto Venecia, Zaragoza but apparently it is outside of the city centre and I got lost on the way. It is located at the Puerto Venecia mall .

I found the breakfast average. After 3 days of the breakfast buffet I stopped going down to the basement for the breakfast buffet . At 9 euros you can get a better deal in one of the many cafés in the square.

The location is fantastic! Right in the heart of the square and walking distance to most point of interests. It is definitely worth opting for a cathedral view. It is just amazing to enjoy the view from the room especially at night. The staff are very friendly and helpful 😊

The room is very basic. There is no safe, fridge or kettle as compared to some 3 stars hotel we have stayed in. There are not many places e.g drawers for storage. No cupboard but just hanging rail next to bed.

The cheapest hotel in our travels through Spain, but far and away the best location. No hotel parking, but the city's underground car park came up 20 meters from the hotel entrance. The hotel is on the main city square and our window actually overlooked the square and the activities going on. A short hop to bars and restaurants in a very nice city. Recommended on location alone, but nothing really detracted from the stay.

A modest breakfast, but I suspect we had been spoilt by breakfasts at the more expensive hotels earlier in our trip around Spain.
