Hotel Hacienda del Cardenal

The hotel is stunning, staff so helpful and friendly even though my Spanish is less than useful ie non existent!!! Found a secure place to leave our pushbikes , reccomended restaurants for us as the hotel one was not available. The breakfast was magnificent! Wow what a setting highly recommend a visit here just wish we could have stayed longer, will try and return in spring or autumn .

Would have preferred a cafetière of coffee with breakfast as I don’t like the machines coffeee is always too cold for me but that’s just me being a bit picky I suspect!

We enjoyed the location and the restaurant. The staff were fantastic, in particular Jaime at reception, with some precious tips regarding parking, and the breakfast clerk, who made an efford and speaked our language. The hotel has charm, but is in need of some renovation to become a true boutique hotel

We could’t get adjoining rooms, so we were given rooms in separate floors. Beeing a family of 3, that was not very nice. The single room I stayed in was too small, with the air conditioning directly next to the headboard of the bed, which was uncomfortable at night. some parts of the hotel are in need of renovation.

This was our 4th visit to Hacienda Del Cardenal. I love the location and history of the property and we have now established a pattern of making it our last stop before flying out of Madrid.

Leaving from there to the airport in the morning has meant that we miss breakfast. The brochure says from 7:30, but the staff says 8:00. If a guest's departure time prevents them from enjoying the breakfast which is included in the price, the price should be discounted. Alternatively, a breakfast roll and beverage to take away should be provided - or, better yet, how about giving arriving guests a voucher for an evening cocktail/tapa or a morning breakfast!

Very quirky in an old world way. Lovely quiet walled garden with gated access via an intercom. We paid to upgrade to a suite on arrival to get our own large balcony overlooking the garden to sit out on. It was 28C even into the evening. Excellent location on the outer walls of Toledo only 100 yards from the six escalators that take you up to the town and a very nice Taverna where we dined twice outdoors in the evening. Very good breakfast included in the price.

Restaurant and bar shut until Thursday. Balcony and seats on it were rather dusty although they were not to know about us upgrading on arrival. Not too keen to find a cockroach in our suite on first night.

It was very pretty and atmospheric. Not a modern new hotel. The desk people were very helpful. It was just at the wall of the old city. Nearby there was an escalator to take you up. Taxis were also easy and cheap. The room was nice, the temperature was controlled by me. The bathroom I had, had a bath with lots of hot water. Breakfast , which I ate(unusually) was terrific.

Nothing. But the restaurant seems not to be open regularly atvthe moment.( march 24)

Loved the location, close to the escalators taking us up to the old town. Also loved the gardens in front of the hotel. I liked the way the gardens were decorated. Old furniture was found thought the hotel which I thought was lovely. The room was very comfortable with a nice clean bathroom and breakfast was very good.We were able to park outside the hotel which was a bonus being so close to the old town.The photographs didnt do it justice as it was better than expected. close to the old town

Lovely old characterful property. Very clean suite, with large patio and another large balcony. Position very good close to Old Town escalators and underground car park.

We were disappointed that the restaurant and outside bars were not open every day/night. As we only stayed one night we missed using them. Staff could have been more friendly. The lady in attendance in the breakfast room did not welcome us. Hot food menu was on the table but we were not asked if we would like to order something as we sat down.

The grounds and gardens of the hotel were spectacular, you could have been in Andalucia, with the fountains, tiles, plants and various areas to explore. The pool was closed during our stay, as it was out of season but I would like to come back and make use of it in the summer! The staff were helpful and friendly, even in the dining room when a child broke a glass. It was immediately tidied up with a smile and a "No problem at all!". It was also a short walk from the centre and I would definitely recommend.

the hotel is part of the castle - it is old and incredibly unique - every room is different - our room was the king deluxe had a sitting room and balcony. The views from our balcony were amazing. Bed was extremely comfortable and really large for a european bed size. Our only disappointment was the restaurant was not open the day we arrived which was a Wednesday so no food. Luckily I made reservations at a nearby location.

No food the restaurant was closed.

For an atmosphere place to stay in Toledo this is the place. The hotel is well appointed with period furniture and two comfortable lounge areas. It is not slick, but has a lived in feel to it like a very pleasant home. We had a suite which had two balconies (one really a terrace). It was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel is below the old city walls but the public escalators to the city are just around the corner.
