Parador de Pontevedra

A lovely old parador with a traditional feel - a beautiful building and comfortable rooms. Our floor made noise (the building is old, so this can't be helped), but hopefully it wasn't too much of an imposition on the people below us!

The staff were very perfunctory - the reception was quiet as we were checking in (that is, we had no customers waiting behind us), and yet the staff didn't tell us anything about the parador, and didn't tell us anything about Pontevedra itself, ask was it our first visit, wish us a pleasant stay etc... as the most expensive stay on our long tour around Galicia, it was the most underwhelming in terms of engagement with the staff. Had I asked something specific, I'm sure I would have been given the answer, but it's unusual to have no information, no map, no recommendations, no small talk... just took our passports and gave us our key.

This was my second time staying, walking a long Camino route ,so I knew what to expect. The food at dinner was exceptional .I had the Parador taster menu and every dish was perfect. The room , a suite, had a balcony and opened up over the gardens. Reception and all staff were very helpful and welcoming. Having stayed in various Paradors, this one stands out for hospitality. Others in the Parador family might take a look to see how it’s done!

Although everything was terrific, complimentary bottled water really should be provided. Not doing so is churlish considering the cost of staying .

Location. Good expensive breakfast. You can order stuff like eggs which is included.

Very noisy rooms! You can hear anything from the neighbors in you floor, upper floor, and bottom floor. Not too clean. Part of the things in the bathroom were sticky. Terrible Internet! Long walk from elevators. Only one small elevator for the whole hotel…

Beautiful building, big room with everything you could need, great service at front desk

I was there on the Pilgrimage (and so walking 30k a day). So, at breakfast I didn't eat anything but instead made a sandwich to take with me but the waitress said I couldnt take anything. Classic 'computer says no' or power trip response. Either way, I was hungry and couldnt eat a breakfast I had paid for and the food would have inevitably been binned...

Very exclusive property. Lovely grounds. Great staff. 2 sinks in the bathroom. Nice extras like robes, slippers, grooming products, and lux towels. Incredibly spacious room. Superbly comfortable and large bed.

Noise from the floor above, not due to the occupant, but floors were old and creaked.

Wonderful breakfast. Good dinner in their “cafeteria”. Excellent location near the Camino and pedestrian bridge.

I felt the photos were not a good reflection of the property. I thought I had booked a nice junior style suite, but the room was not as nice as I had presumed and overlooked the car park. Very small garden. I thought there would be more outdoor areas.

Loved the breakfast and had a delightful dinner on the verandah. The location was excellent. Could easily walk around the old town

It was a really pleasant stay …. Easy, comfortable and well worth it. Loved the size of the bedrooms. We drove and enjoyed the beaches around the o Grove region…. Stunning

Beautiful Parador in central location, in historic part of town with plenty of restaurants, cafes and bar to choose from. Comfortable, big room with great beds and roomy bathroom. Very nice breakfast with many choices in the morning. All staff very helpful and friendly.

A good nights stay at the Parador while on Camino. While not as elegant as the Parador in Santiago, it is a beautiful property. Could not get room to cool down with air conditioner, but it was probably an 'operator error.' Would recommend visiting, especially if you like the history and elegance of old hotels.

Stop with the COVID-19 restrictions at breakfast and return the serving utensils for the fruit, bread, etc. As well please prioritize your coffee - the Parador should be able to service their clients with a espresso machine and not a Nespresso dispenser.
