Hotel Aroi Bierzo Plaza

Located in one of the mist lovely squares. Room was clean.

The photos can be a little deceiving as to which room you are booking. We stayed two nights and hoped for a balcony, as most pictures show that and the property states “most rooms have a balcony.” However we were assigned a room that had a small window with steps to get up to look out. Looking back at photos, I noticed pictures of our room but at the very end. We were disappointed we didn’t have a balcony and we asked to upgrade the second night but that was not possible. I’d simply encourage guests to specifically request a balcony when the booking is made. Or pictures be more accurate.

We stayed two nights, a great place in the old town of Ponferrada, minutes away from the castle, museums, cafes and restaurants. Lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, a balcony overlooking the main square. Bathroom in decent size with good shower pressure.

Noise coming from the main square as the town was being decorated for the festive season, therefore we had a significant noise from lorries, forklifts, and other vehicles. They were installing some lights, building a stage, and decorating other buildings. All this from around 8:30-9am. This is not the hotel's fault not even ours. It's just the time of the year and you need to put up with this.

The hotel is right in the center of the old part of the city. Within an easy walk to grocery stores. The staff is friendly and the breakfast is fine.

The hotel is made up of three old buildings so it's kind of a maze to find your way between the three buildings. Once I couldn't find my room and I had to ask one of the staff to take me there. She said that she had only worked there 2 months, so she wasn't sure of the way, but eventually we found it.

Location is perfect. This was our second visit. Our room was directly on the square, which was fantastic! Happy friendly staff, with excellent English. Good breakfast with mots of choice. Meal at the restaurant, La Violetta, was delicious 😋 Parked in free carpark and walked the 3 mins to hotel. Lots to see/do in the area too.

We chose to come back so really there was nothing we didn't like.

The hotel was in the centre of Ponferrada on the Camino. Our room overlooked the main square. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful. We had a warm welcome.

We didn’t eat in the restaurant as there was no set menu in the evening. However, there are plenty of places nearby you can eat.

Good location central in Ponferrada. Check in quick and easy. The room and bathroom are fine, however they are old and pretty tatty. A lot of renovations and maintenance need to be done on the hotel.

No kettle in room to make coffee, and no facilities in the hotel to do so. Due to a festival, there were no cafes open in the morning. The only way to get a coffee would have been to buy an entire breakfast at the hotel.

Reception staff was incredible and so helpful! Dinner was very good.. The beds were very comfortable

Note - the Budget room has a skylight and not an actual window. It's worth paying a bit more to get an upgraded room with a window. The hotel is right on the main plaza and the Saturday night partying went until early morning.

This was a prime location on the Camino de Santiago. It was right on the square and close to everything we needed. The breakfast was very good and plentiful. Being a pilgrim, I was thrilled with a tub!!! Great place to stay.

The staff were very helpful and attentive.

I originally booked for the other Aroi hotel in the old town looking for a central location and rustic and cosy feeling hotel. Despite it's four star rating the hotel offered to me in lower Ponferrada was a bit shabby and dark. The room was small and needed more attentive maintenance and appliances (broken controller for AC, old style flat screen tv, broken fridge, defective toilet flush).

The hotel is in a great location, close to the main attractions and lots of cafes and restaurants. The underground parking was great for the motorbike and just a short walk to the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful.
