Hotel Torre Zumeltzegi

Stunning location in an old medieval tower looking out over the town and surrounding countryside, our room was at the top of the hotel with fantastic views. There was a small honour bar with tea and coffee free to help yourself to and a small selections of drinks at reasonable prices. The restaurant at the hotel was great with plenty of fresh fish options. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good english. Breakfast was excellent.

The road up from the town to the hotel is a single track road, very steep and winding. It appeared there should have been a traffic light system for the road but at the bottom it just flashed amber (for caution) and at the top end it was permanently on red. I assume this is not in the control of the hotel.

Lovely restored tower in a nice setting, beautiful view from bedroom window, nice decor, comfortable bed. Good car park at the top of the narrow winding road leading to the hotel - fortunately there is a traffic light system. Quiet location, yet only a 5 minute walk from the old town of Onati. Good value for money.

The breakfast could be improved (the flies landing on the meat were off-putting) and it would have been nice if you had the option to have it on the terrace. The toilet and bathroom floor were not clean. Very hard pillows.

A really lovely hotel, in a beautiful town - and with superb views (even in the fog we experienced!). Bonus of apple trees in the garden, and being able to walk up into the countryside from the front door, was appreciated

We found the restaurant ambiance a bit cold (slightly stark white floor etc) although this was compensated for by very friendly, helpful staff

The rooms are great with superb views from the hotel. Coffee on the terrace in front of the hotel is a joy with such a backdrop. Garage storage was made available for our ebikes.

The views are amazing and it's quite near from the village. Breakfast was basic and nice.

You could hear the noise of people walking in the room above at night. There was only one staff working and she was rushing to do all the tasks, from preparing coffee, to cleaning the tables and admin work so we had to wait a bit for some things but she was very nice.

The location is quite spectacular. Although there are industrial parts of the town the old centre is quite magnificent. The tower is very unusual. We had a room on level 4. Very quiet.

The dinner was acceptable but not quite up to scratch according to the surroundings. However the service was great especially from the Hotel Manager who is a delightful person.

Overall a nice hotel, good food in the evening and the breakfast, although continental, was good.

This in no way diminished our experience but the approach road to the hotel was narrow and steep. very difficult on a motorcycle.

Rooms on the top floor can be challenging for tall people.

A beautiful tower made into a hotel. Rooms are spacious, clean and very comfortable. It was a very pleasant stay.

The walls are too thin, so you hear literally everything from other rooms. Special, people walking at the room atop of you. This was a bit annoying.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Large, clean bedroom and bathroom. Very good dinner. Continental style breakfast but you could order eggs. Would stay here again on way to Ferry.
