Hotel Moderno Puerta del Sol

I can’t emphasise enough how ideal the location is. We arrived from the airport by taxi. We paid a flat rate of 30 euro. We didn’t spend any additional fees for transportation for the next 3 days. We walked to all tourist sites, cafes, bars and shops. The day we departed we just took the train, which was a two minute walk, to go to Atocho Station and grab the train to Seville. The size of the room was small but sufficient. It was clean. The staff was friendly and informative. The breakfast was plentiful.

The only thing I would have liked is a mini fridge.

The hotel is absolutely ideally located for sightseeing in Madrid. It is under 100m from the Sol Metro station (which is easy to get to from the airport) and about 500m (ish) from all the major sights (Prado, Royal Palace etc). It is surrounded by some great places to eat. Just get off the main streets and there are some excellent places to have tapas, great wines and sherries - all easy walking distance. We found the Alhambra Tapas and Parilla (in Calle Victoria) - absolutely top rate. Just along from the hotel is the 1902 Churreria - great! The breakfast is pretty good

The room was a bit too warm for our liking - and the antique heating system wasn't easily controllable by the occupant.

it’s too bad because the Puerta Del sol plaza was in construction so the atmosphere on the square did not exist.This is not the hotels fault.

The location was ideal especially during the Thanksgiving /Christmas season. It was centrally located to shopping, eateries, Starbucks, and just a few feet away from the Metro train station. Most importantly it was clean and quiet. We loved it and look forward to going back. P.S. if staying during the Holiday season, try to book a room that faces the plaza so you can enjoy the tree lighting. Don’t worry they have double windows plus remote metal blinds that shut down and keep all the noise out. Highly recommend!!! 🤗

Although location was excellent, I wish they had, had more amenities, including free daily breakfast. Also their hotel lobby was very, very small, but if you’re in Spain, you’re not going to spend your time in the hotel. You just need a safe place to get a good night’s rest, which you’ll get here!

The rooms are very comfy with toiletries provided. There's a lot to see and do in Madrid but if you just wanted a quiet night in the room works well for that too. The breakfast has lots of variety, more than I can eat and tastes good. The reception staff speak good English and are very friendly. I've been coming here for nearly 5 years now and they always remember me and ask how my family are. When I got ill and ended up in hospital but I had no one with me, they packed my bag up for me as requested and found me another room when I got out of hospital. Not all hotels would do that. I knew I didn't need to worry about my belongings being kept safe for me. I never feel like a stranger or alone when I'm visiting Madrid when I stay here.

It’s always the location for me. This has been the 2nd hotel stay this year for me and I simply love the convenience. The staff were friendly and accommodating with all my queries. Shout out to Patricia and her colleague which I completely forgotten her name. They’re the AM crew. The breakfast was good, it has been the same but for a tenner, with a special coffee machine and fresh fruits on board that’s good enough for me. I was just amazed this time to get a bathroom with a bidet, it’s the highlight this time .

Probably the funky smell from the toilet, that comes from the drainage. I just close the doors going to the room. But it was clean, towels are laundered well and white. Special shout out to the cleaning lady who was kind enough to provide me with bathroom slippers on request.

Hotel is in a great location, right on the edge of Puerta del Sol and near to Plaza Mayor, San Miguel market etc. Single room with double bed was not especially big, but it was comfortable and clean, and modern with a couple of rustic touches (distressed table, for example). Bathroom was quite large (despite room being small), clean with a good shower. Plenty of towels. Cool air conditioning meant it was easy to sleep in the heat. Bed was nice and comfortable, and there was very little external noise. There was also an electronically operated window blind. The breakfast buffet was good value and had a decent continental selection. Staff at reception were friendly and helpful.

Very little bad to say. Only small issue was there is no view from the room. It just looked out onto the inner courtyard of the building and at the other bedrooms. But this was a fact that did not bother me at all.

We liked the details throughout the room, for example... robe & slippers, umbrellas, coffee options, American or expresso, complimentary water bottles and not being charged for them, the toiletries in the bathroom, specially the body-wash sponges are an excellent idea. The outdoor terrace was nicely done. Front desk was very informative and had our taxi ready for us as agreed.

We didn't stay for the breakfast, but we did stop by to take a look. It seemed a little express and not to many healthy options. Also, the room felt like a retirement cafeteria. It could use a little re-fresh in the decor. Side note the TV was a little small, not a big deal.

Fantastic central location by Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. Simple room but beds very comfortable, bidet in bathroom, and all toiletries provided. Spacious sitting room downstairs to bring in food or hang out on computer. El Cortes Ingles is next door with an amazing selection of delicious premade food if you dont want to go to restaurant. Wonderful helpful staff went beyond expectations. Very secure building. Fabulous value for the center of Madrid. Would definately stay there again

Bedroom was a little cramped with all our suitcases but for the price in the center of of Madrid you wont find a better hotel.

Liked this hotel and the terrace was marvellous. The staff were all friendly and we received a great "Cead mile failte".The cleaning staff were excellent. The hotel is in a pedestrian zone so you have a little short walk from taxi drop off point. The Sol metro is right beside the hotel.

Unfortunately the taxi booked through BOOKING did not turn up and we had to pay for another taxi. We had booked a return taxi to the airport with BOOKING but cancelled it as we lost confidence in the system. However the hotel booked a taxi for us. I have tried to get a refund for the taxi fare but the site is really difficult to navigate and Booking have been no help. I have booked hotels many times no problem with booking but I doubt I will use the taxi service again.
