Hotel IRARAGORRI

When I think of our stay in this hotel, I think 'character'. It is built similar to a Swiss chalet and the interior is finished in beautiful timber frames and painted walls which in turn, are covered with interesting photographs and memorabilia. There isn't a lift, and we accessed our comfortable, clean room on the top floor via a wide wooden staircase. We were served a delicious, traditional Basque breakfast in fine china, and in the evening we enjoyed excellent cocktails in the cosy lounge. We drove to the hotel, parked the car there and to visit Bilbao itself, we walked a short distance to the train station and were in the city centre within 20 minutes. A very efficient & economical service which made our visit so easy.

We spent one night here using the hotel as a base to explore Bilbao. We were able to park our hire car and then it was an easy walk to the station to catch a Metro to the city. Trains run every 15 minutes and were cheap. We had dinner in the hotel which was very good and then had a very comfortable nights sleep. This is a lovely family run hotel.

This hotel is a bit expensive but worth the money for the easy access to Bilbao and the really nice setup

This hotel was a fantastic surprise. At first it was hard to find, and was expecting the worse but when I set foot inside the hotel I realised that the place was special. An old historic mansion, carefully restored and converted into an 8 room hotel. My room was massive with a high ceiling and the bathroom was sparkling clean, which can be hard being an old property. The staff was fantastic, and very guest oriented always happy to help. The breakfast was delicious with everything carefully placed on the table for me. I was made feel like a VIP guest. The hotel also has a in-house restaurant with an artist of a chef. I’d strongly recommend eating dinner even if it’s for one evening. I would definitely come back again, and don’t tend to say this lightly.

possibly the only aspect I did not like was the location, as there isn’t much around it.

A beautiful 15th Century home ,exceptional décor silver service cutlery ,china ware beautiful cosy ambience .Rooms spacious with modern shower room. Our ferry was delayed by 24 hrs and they were able to accommodate us. We had superb home cooked breakfast each morning with very attentive staff. We had a lovely dinner each evening our stopover turned in to a lovely tranquil stay. I would recommend this hotel for a cosy get away and a lovely area to recharge your batteries. Thank you

· An exceptionally beautiful building dating back 500 years. Wonderfully restored maintaining all the original character and charm. The hosts were really helpful and the breakfast was exceptionally good. We only stayed one night on our way to the ferry although next time I'm in the area I will definitely stay longer. There is a light railway just across the road which takes you into the centre of the city which I intend to use on my next visit.

Lovely staff, great location, clean and very very comfortable. I was travelling by motorcycle and the hotel had excellent free private parking. The lady could not have been more helpful.. allowed me to store my bike gear for the day and helped me to plan my train journey into Bilbao from the station just across the road. Would highly recommend and would stay again.

We really loved the building and our room. The place is 15mins drive from the center of Bilbao.

It was very hot and already there was a fan it wasn’t enough to cool the room. We had to sleep with the windows open which then allowed the noise from the road in.

It was a beautiful hotel run by very welcoming staff. Everyone was very helpful and kind. we stayed only one night as we were returning by Ferry the next day and had little time. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to experience a traditional sense of Basque living and the food was absolutely fantastic made from seasonal and local produce. A wonderful place to stay if exploring the area.

Huge, clean room, historic chatacterful building, convenient location 2 mins walk from train station for Bilbao, 30 mins drive from ferry port. Very good restaurant for evening meals. Multilingual staff.

Immediate neighbourhood is industrial/residential, a bit grimy, nothing to visit here on foot. Some noise from inside and outside the building at night, bring earplugs.

Very friendly staff, such a lovely breakfast, a beautiful hotel en interior. It was perfect for us!! Near a trainstation , that brought us in 15min to Bilbao. And we even took this eukotren to San Sebastian.
