Parador de Ávila

Firstly we were able to park in the free Hotel Car which was much ,more convenient than the paid spaces outside. The ambience of the terrace outside the bar was an excellent place for a drink after a four hour drive. The standard room was spacious and the bathroom and power shower were equivalent or better than a lot of more expensive hotels, we have stayed at over the years. The restaurant was very traditional with an excellent regional cuisine.To finalise the character and layout of the whole building was a joy to embrace. My wife is already lobbying for a return date.

The lift was short distance from our room but the stairs were difficult to find, a couple of signs may have helped. Other than that nothing to declare

We had a beautiful spacious room with a sitting area, lobby and bathroom. Our son had a very decent sized regular room. Each room had a safe and a fridge, and was refreshed daily with a big bottle of water and toiletries.Everything was well thought out. The location was fabulous - our room overlooked a formal garden by the city walls. The food outstanding - I would recommend the half board plan. There were several sitting rooms and it was a treat to have hot chocolate, tea and cake in front of a big open fireplace.

the car park was covered and reasonably priced, but a bit tight to park.

The Parador certainly lived up to expectations. It is within the walls and thus well-placed for exploring the historic city of Avila. The room was clean and spacious and had a view of the garden (which we had paid extra for). The staff member who served drinks etc was very encouraging of/patient with my beginner Spanish and could not have been more helpful. The woman who initially greeted us at reception was somewhat frosty, but the rest of the reception staff whom we encountered were warm and welcoming.

This is a lovely hotel in Avila's historic district, just inside its massive stone walls, walkable to the entire town. The room with a view was pleasant. There is a lovely garden area between the hotel and the city walls where you can have a drink and get something to eat. The staff were polite and accommodating. We enjoyed our 2-night stay which went without a hitch.

Our room was just above a slightly busy one way street, but it quieted down at night, so no problems or issues to report.

the location, setting and character of the building. very helpful reception staff and kettle and cups provided for our room on request. Lovely end room (superior double) with double aspect overlooking parador garden and nice garden to sit out in with bar/cafe service. Huge picnic provided in lieu breakfast as we had to leave early for airport.

Sad no wines from local DOs Gredos and Cebreros on list. Waiting staff in restaurant good at their jobs and nice but micro-management by head honcho not edifying or helpful. Bathroom decor a bit tired and lighting there not brilliant.

The location was good and the staff were really nice. Breakfast was excellent plenty of choice and they cooked to order. Parking is available for free if you are lucky enough to get a free spot otherwise you will need to find somewhere or pay. We needed to use the lift so they changed the room to one nearer the lift and they guided us to it.

If you have mobility issues then I would not stay here as there are a number of stairs to negotiate before you can get to the lift. and it is quite spread out. The beds are a bit on the hard side but the rooms are nice.

The Parador has a fantastic location: near(and inside) the wall of Avila, with its own parking space but also near public parking spots. The hotel had a beautiful garden, its own bar and restaurant. You can eat and drink on the beautiful terrace, in the shadow of the trees in the garden. Rooms are large access the beds are excellent. The rooms have airco but also excellent shading.

The room was comfortable and clean with a really spacious bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. The grounds are lovely, with well-tended gardens and different seating areas. The location is very good, just a few minutes walk from the centre. We really appreciated having secure, underground parking, too.

Very nice, comfortable and spacious room. Clean and tidy. Well designed. Above all, a cosy, hospitable atmosphere in a historical building. Fine breakfast in a lovely restaurant, beautifully furnished with antique oil paintings Friendly and helpful staff, especially at breakfast. Highly recommended.

The setting is superb. A short stroll to the walls and the center of the city. The old building very impressive. The morning breakfast staff were very nice and attentive.

It would have been great to have a swimming pool, but we understand the limitations of the site.
