Posada Real Casa de Tepa

This property is actually an elegant historic mansion which has remained in the same family for generations since it was originally built in the 1700s. Our suite which overlooked an inner courtyard/garden was huge and comfortable. The public rooms were decorated with remnants of a bygone era, complete with fascinating family portraits and photos. The Casa was perfectly situated within walking distance of all the important sites of interest including the Astorga Cathedral, the Gaudi designed Epicopal Palace and the Museum of Chocolate. For its small size, Astorga is a thriving town on the Camino with a wide range of services and attractions.

We only stayed one night. It should have been longer.

This is a fabulous small hotel, a home for over 300 years which still retains all it’s traditional features. It is like stepping back in time into a previous era. The staff are friendly, there is secure parking and it is perfectly positioned for exploring Astorga, an easily walkable town, to view all the sights of which there are many. If you are looking for a peaceful hotel full of character where guests are treated respectfully don’t hesitate to book Posada Real Casa de Tepa.

Only one very minor criticism: the pillows could have been softer and we would have liked two. But, the hotel was so delightful we were happy to overlook such a small oversight and I’m sure had we asked we would have had the pillows changed. We only stayed a couple of nights, we would have happily stayed longer but we were on our way home.

Following a warm welcome from our host, we so enjoyed our stay in this wonderful old house which has been in the family for two centuries. Our room and bathroom were a very good size, spotlessly clean, and in keeping with the historic and elegant decor of the place. We really enjoyed exploring the many rooms where guests could go to relax, and loved the many old family photographs and the decorative details encountered at every turn. The courtyard and the walkways with the hydrangeas and roses were absolutely beautiful. It was also the perfect location to explore Astorga, being just a few minutes walk from the Cathedral. Fantastic place.

Historical home with a lot of charm and beauty. The family that runs it is thoughtful, caring and welcoming. A unique experience in a central location. I wish I was able to spend more time there to enjoy the garden. An experience that I recommend & would repeat. I found my room to be lovely and comfortable. It was easy to get everywhere that I wanted to go in Astorga. Gracias por una experiencia maravillosa! Un saludo de California!

Beautiful old place with a lot of character. This 230 years old place was a family home and you feel well in it. The staff makes you feel like home. (For ex they don't make you pay upon arrival as I paid just when I left). Delicious breakfast that was worth waiting until 8 am. It is not so much more expensive than some albergue we went to but much better than the traditional few stars hotel. Just book it...

The hotel is well situated for walking to the sights of the town and restaurants etc. Having parking was a big plus for us (although access proved a bit challenging as the road outside was temporarily closed because of work on some utilities) and the shady courtyard also proved lovely for an evening drink before heading out for the evening. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The house is old and the first floor is essentially a beautiful museum preserving the furniture as it was at the end of the nineteenth century. We only stayed the one night but would have been very happy to stay a bit longer.

We loved this facility and it’s interior. Location was superb, we were able to walk to the sights we wanted to see and the restaurant. The breakfast was good and there was a self service honor system bar in the courtyard.

While the receptionist told us we could park in the blue-lined spots on the street, he did not tell us payment was required; we accrued a hefty ticket as a result. This is our only complaint.

The location of the hotel is right on the Camino Way and also close to Astorga’s sights. We enjoyed the ‘olde worlde’ charm of the building itself and were made to feel welcome on arrival. The room was really spacious and the bed comfortable and everything very clean. We didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t comment on that aspect.

The wifi wouldn’t work for us and the tv wouldn’t switch on.

Very beautiful property with period features. Very spacious room, palatial bathroom, and a lovely courtyard seating area with water feature. Centrally located, right on the Camino.

The room was a bit dark - it could have done with an overhead light instead of lamps. The nights are cold now and there was only one blanket in the room. We needed an extra one in the night - it would be helpful for 2 blankets to be provided in the cupboard. A little pricey, but it was a beautiful property. Breakfast was ok but not worth the €11 per person.

Greeting, welcome and customer service from older gentleman upon arrival, Cleanliness, bed linens, air conditioning, peaceful and quiet, sitting areas in the facility, water pressure and temperature in the bathroom. Presence of a front office employee when I left early around 6:00am. I highly recommend this hotel and will book it again when in Astorga.

Electrical outlet works only if light switch is turned on in room.
