Occidental Ljubljana

Finally, a decent hotel in Ljubljana! I must have stayed in every hotel in the city during the last twenty years, and never found one without some problem. This is a new hotel and I booked a superior room at the back of the hotel, which was very quiet with a/c you could turn off without the fan continuing to make a noise. Soundproofing from within and from outside was very good. I could faintly hear some church bells, but loud enough to keep you awake.

A digital TV that took me 25 minutes to work out how to operate the remote control. At one stage I took it downstairs for help, but the receptionist didn't know how to work it either. Of course by the time I had worked out how to use it, I had missed the programme I wanted to watch. In any case there were no British news channels or Champions League football matches available. Car parking was a bit stressful the first time. The car park below the hotel building turned out to belong to Aldi and had no overnight charge, nor was it easy to find the hotel from this car park. I moved my car to the public parking below Trg Kongresni where. if you parked in the far corner, you were right below the entrance to the hotel.

The location was very good, the old town was really close. The room is small, but well designed, for one night it was ok. Beds were very comfortable.

Some of the street noise could sneak in, but it was acceptable. The receptionist tried to convince me, that I cannot park the car on the streets for the night (we arrived in Sunday evening) and I should take it to the hotel's garage, that would cost me ~40 EUR/night. It turned out that I can park on the streets, there are free parking lots, and it is free on Sunday and I do not have to pay during the night only from 7 AM. I spent 2,4 EUR for parking altogether.

The hotel is in a great location and as a new hotel, is very modern and clean. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms make good use of space and were very comfortable for sleeping.

The hotel has a restaurant and bar on site and we had hoped to avail ourselves of the tapas at the restaurant on the busy Friday night after we arrived. However, we were informed when we asked around 10.30pm that the kitchen was closed with little desire to help us find something to eat. Happily, we Googled a fabulous pizza restaurant a short walk away, which took customers on a walk-in rather than booking basis and was open until midnight so all was well that ended well for us. However, I do think that the hotel could have tried to make a better offering, even if only snacking plates, of something for guests later than they clearly did.

New hotel so the rooms are very clean and all the fixtures and fittings are new. Nice big beds, big floor to ceiling windows and curtains. Nice big shower that is separate but next to the toilet, so good for use by two people at the same time. Excellent water pressure during showering. Some minor issues with the A/C - it would not stay off when I turned it off. There is a Lidl supermarket beneath the hotel so good for getting some food upon arriving. There is also a car park under the hotel Very central most places you would want to visit are within a 10-15 minute walk of this hotel.

One night the fire alarm went of in my room for some unknow reason. The AC controls in he room are a bit fiddly and the settings I made reverted after a few minutes. Forgot to replace the teas/coffees every morning had to go and ask for extras at reception

The location of the hotel is excellent, right in the center of the city. The hotel is completely new, the interior in hotel is nicely designed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice, very bright with large windows, which can also be opened, the bed is very big and super comfortable. The breakfast is good, excellent coffee, but I missed a larger selection of cold cuts + some smoked salmon, more healthy drinks, yogurt cake, chia puddings, panakota, cheescake in small glass jars.

If you are a guest and come with your own car, unfortunately there is no parking space in front of the hotel to unload your luggage. The parking fee for one day in the garage is significantly overpriced. A bit awkward operation for turning on the shower, because if you have soapy hands, you can't turn the metal button to turn on the water again. Since the rooms are a little smaller, there is no room for a larger wardrobe.

Lovely hotel but you can tell it’s still very new, as restaurant was not yet open for any food. The location was fantastic - everything easily within walking distance. Clean and comfortable room

We were on the first floor facing the city, and everyone in the square could see into our room! Shower/bathroom small as they tried an open plan bathroom. My partner and I went for our 10 year anniversary but no additional services offered by staff. We go away for our anniversary every year and usually hotel staff are a lot more warm about this.

Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Fresh and new. Beds and most importantly pillows very good.

Parking was extremely expensive with a discounted rate of 39 Euro or day in the Lidl car park. The rooms are compact. Didn’t feel the cleaning was up to standard and consistent which was surprising for a new property. Ring marks of cups from previous guests. And towels not managed well. For example left ours to reuse and one was taken down and changed despite not needing to but other left.

The staff was really nice and the room was really clean. Everything was great. A small station for coffee and tea and new toileteries. Amazing location.

I asked for a double bed but unfortunately we got two seperated beds because the hotel was fully booked. It was also written in the booking site so it really should not have been a problem for me. There was also a quite loud constructon nearby that started around 8.15 every morning so we couldn´t sleep in, but these things shouldn´t affect the hotel rating.

It is a very modern hotel, very clean and check-in was easy. The room has a great view of the castle. The toilet is nice and the rain shower had nice water pressure. There is a supermarket just underneath the hotel and many eating options nearby.

Breakfast was a bit repetitive. It had a decent selection and tasted good, just that it's the same food everyday. The dual glass front entrance was a bit disorientating. I almost walked into the glass a few times.
