Grand Hotel Union Eurostars

Grand building right in the center of the old town. Excellent location, close to restaurants and major points like the Three Bridges. The room was spacious (Superior Comfort) and well decorated and the shower room and separate WC were very modern and clean. Comfortable bed, pillows and bedding and good quality towels. Free bottled water available in the room replenished daily together with coffee for a Nespresso machine. Attentive and courteous concierge and reception staff. Excellent breakfast in a charming breakfast room. The 'spa', jointly used with its sister hotel, is a definite MISS, totally in a different class and quality to the Grand Union hotel.

The location is perfect. You just step out of the hotel and your are almost at the three bridges. Walking distance to all you need. Good breakfast and very nice historical hotel.

They clearly do not expect anyone to eat dinner at the restaurant. The last evening I just wanted a quick bite, but the waiter was surprised when I ordered food and it toook 30min to serve the only guest. But the negative points come from that the reception refused to order me a metered taxi to the airport. They would only call the VIP taxi for 45€, when a standard taxi costs 30€ (the receptionist also claimed a metered taxi could cost me 70€). I'm okay with the hotel offering a fixed price, but if I as a guest ask for a metered taxi, I expect the reception to call me one. Now I had to log in to my computer, google the companies and order one oneself. (got a very good driver and paid 31€, he also told me it is the hotels that set the fixed prices for the taxis)

Ljubljana was a pleasant surprise. We were there to meet friends and discovered a vibrant city of outdoor cafes and public spaces encouraging social interaction. The hotel is large and therefore a little impersonal but the staff were always helpful. Free covered secure parking was a plus. And the breakfast buffet was exceptional with a lot of options including Prosecco! We were upgraded to a junior suite which was spacious with a comfortable sitting room. And the location could not have been better — it was in the center of everything. So happy our friends introduced us the Ljubljana.

Nothing. It met every need and then some.

The hotel is amazingly located in the heart of the city, the cleanliness and standard of the rooms is very high, the staff very courteous, the room felt very cosy and homey, and the general atmosphere unpretentious even though the standard is very high, which we appreciated. The views from the room were very nice and we felt very good to stay there.

we ordered and a room with fold out bed for the kids, and even confirmed this in messages with the hotel staff, but it wasn't set up when we arrived late at night, which caused us to wait with sleeping children till it was set up, this was a discomfort that could have been avoided by better internal communication protocols within the hotel organization.

We loved the spacious deluxe room on the fourth floor of the hotel. The staff were exceedingly helpful. The location is excellent, very close to the beautiful center of Ljubljana.

Breakfast was abundant but not as appealing as we would have liked. We would have appreciated the opportunity to get eggs to order rather than the pre-made version. Fruit ran out quickly. Long lines at the coffee machine. The door keys did not function well, we kept having to go back to reception to get the keys re-activated. Remember to ask for the extra mattress pad - the first night we didn’t sleep well because the beds were too firm. But once we asked for it, housekeeping installed an extra mattress puffer that made the bed much more comfortable.

The hotel decor was modern and clean. The staff was very helpful, and the few minor issues I had were dealt with promptly and completely. I was upgraded to a wonderful room with a view of the castle, and the street that leads toward it. The location could not have been better. It was right in the center of things, but on a section of the street normally blocked off to traffic. It was comfortable and quiet and spotlessly clean. A local sparkling white wine was offered at breakfast, and was lovely.

The breakfast was nice, but fell short of spectacular. While many of the items were first rate, some of the ones I tried were under seasoned. To be fair, this is an extremely minor shortcoming. The selection at the buffet was extensive, and I could easily have chosen other things if I had been hungry enough to be motivated.

The location was excellent. Whilst the breakfast was very good, the breakfast room was better than anticipated in that it offered large windows overlooking the adjacent smart street with the similarly smart pedestrians

In the retentively recent refurbishment, the large public room between the entrance and the breakfast room had been stripped of furnishings and re-set as a limited business center. The hotel would be much better served if this large public room could be re-set back to relaxed guest use, - especially when it rains incessantly in Ljubljana

The location was perfectly central to the most charming parts of Llubljana as well as our car rental agency. It was also close to the taxi transportation just a few steps from the main door. Because we were leaving very early in the morning, the hotel provided us a boxed breakfast, which was very nice. The room was spacious and quiet and no hint of cigarette smoke smell. We had a beautiful view of the church/river/main square from our suite. We appreciated the amenities of the room and everything in working order - wifi, spacious closets, Illy espresso machine; hot water boiler; fridge, safe, etc.

The beds were firm and even across, but one deserves a mattress topper/softener or thicker pad of some type on top of it.

we liked the old world charm of a traditional hotel in the heart of the old town . the sq footage was generous and it was very clean . the bathroom had counter space and an excellent shower / tub . But FYI , the tub was a high step entry. For our stay the breakfast was included. it was excellent…savory and sweet satisfied. the breakfast room had large windows facing the street, white linen, all very pleasant. The front desk reception was always attentive and helpful .

this is MINOR . the hairdryer was old school but safe.. …fyi if you had an important event or presentation you may want to bring your own

service. we called for laundry pickup immediately upon arrival to be returned the following day per their instructions. however, they were not returned. I called the day after it was supposed to be returned and found out they don’t even know it existed. When they found our laundry, they told us will be return by 2pm the following day. we have a flight at 2pm to return home. the purpose of laundry was for us to have clean clothes the day after we arrived. it was not good experience. we have to cancel the laundry service and took our clothes back!
