Holiday Inn Express - Glasgow - City Ctr Riverside, an IHG Hotel

My flight got me there 2-3hrs before check-in time and I was happy to just put my baggage into storage but they had my room ready and was able to check in, so very happy with that. Staff were friendly and every day I got a good morning from reception as I went for breakfast. Breakfast itself, offered enough choice with Orange/Apple Juice and coffee machines for your choice of coffee....Plenty of Tea choices available too. Bed was comfy and room was clean too.

Room attendant knocked on my door to clean on day of checkout a couple of hours before checkout time, I feel they should be made aware when departing guests have left and clean then, but no big deal. There was a handy ice machine in the lobby, but no ice buckets or containers to use to take ice to your room. No room safe is always a minus for me. Slightly expensive but that's due to the world championships being on which was why I was there, so that's only to be expected.

The location is very good, with a few good pubs nearby and a huge car park (at the additional cost). The hotel is pet-friendly and my pet received a welcome gift which is really nice and cute. Pets are not allowed at the breakfast area - so we were advised that we can grab some food and eat at the lobby - which was a good option. Breakfast is good - there is no much choice, but the food is well-cooked and tasty. Hotel stuff is nice and welcoming. There is also a bar at the hotel in case you don't want to go out but still fancy a beer.

At the check-in we were advised that pets are not allowed to stay in the roome alone - so I had to take my dog everywhere with me. I understand this requirement however it would be good if it was mentioned somewhere at the hotel description as it was a total surprize for me and ruined a bit of my plans.

The bathroom especially was really clean. There was an ice machine and a microwave for guests to use, which was a nice touch you don’t usually get in hotels. The hotel has lookout spots on the corners of the building which give a sense of falling and are really cool selfie spots. That’s a nice touch! The hotel is also centrally located albeit a bit removed from the main high streets. One negative is that the family room we stayed in was VERY small - the sofa bed took up all the space so that you had to climb over to reach the curtains and also the chair could not be removed from under the table because it was chocked against the bed. All in all a very lovely hotel to stay in for the price and benefits.

The Breakfast was rechauffed (old), and I even found foil on one piece of bacon one day. There was only scrambled eggs and knowing how it’s made I really struggled to eat it - at least some boiled eggs in the cold section would be good.

We had an excellent 5day stay. The checkin was fast, friendly and very welcoming. We ask that the AC can completely turned off, because I'm very sensitive to it. 15minutes after we were in the room the staff member came and put it out. She was concerned that we maybe getting cold and offered us an extra heater, was very kind was, but we didn't need one. The Room itself was very clean with comfortable Beds and a nice sized Bathroom with a great Shower. In the Room you could barely hear the Street or even your neighbor, it's very quiet and therefore we had an relaxing stay and were getting a goodnight sleep. The Breakfast is huge with everything you could want. The Staff was always friendly and helpful. We appreciate the hard work from all the Staff members on a daily basis, because to work in hospitality is hard, that we could enjoy our break from Work,too. We are coming definitely back and sending a big thank you.

Fantastic hot buffet breakfast included and very helpful staff. We were absolutely exhausted when we arrived and the room was ready a bit early for check in as requested. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean and modern with white sheets and a white cotton duvet- nothing too fancy, a bit on the small side, but exactly what we needed to feel comfortable for our 1 night stay. The location is next to the river for an easy enjoyable walk, but also a block away from lots of restaurants, shops, bars and a casino.

The block the hotel is on is a little sketchy. The building across the street is boarded up and there are homeless people out front. We didn't feel unsafe, but I wasn't going to venture out after dark there. That said, a block over the neighborhood changed so maybe it's just a temporary situation.

As soon as we checked into the establishment, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating. Therefore we felt at ease immediately. The complimentary breakfast was lovely and we could get complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk as and when we needed it from reception. We paid for a basic room however we got a lovely room with a window and sofa bed which was a lovely surprise. We highly recommend the holiday inn after several places in Glasgow this has been our favourite place to stay. Thank you kindly to the staff at the establishment, we'll most certainly be back

The whole hotel was spotlessly clean,really friendly & accommodating staff who made us so welcome......Nice cosy relaxing rooms & the breakfast was 1st class.

Nothing regarding the hotel.....I have absolutely no negatives other than I paid 385 for two nights which personally I thought was a bit steep........I know everything has gone up post "covid" & there was also a large cycling event in the city I was unaware of which probably explains the price/demand for rooms.........STILL A BARGAIN IS ALWAYS NICE SO HOPEFULLY NEXT TIME AS THE HOTEL WAS PERFECT.

Travelled as a family of 4 (x2 adults, x2 kids 12+16) we had a family room with a double bed and a double sofa bed. both were really comfortable and a really good selection of pillows. I request a extra feather pillow which the staff sorted for me straight away. All the staff were really helpful and nice, they really made our stay good. the room had a hairdryer, iron +board, to, kettle and tea/coffee. and the room had Dove wash products shower/shampoo & hand-wash and fluffy towels. there was lots of sockets and usb plugs throughout the room also. The included breakfast was really nice, a great selection and freshly cooked. was able to request a taxi at the reception quickly was a bonus. family stayed at the major competitor hotel and said we definitely had the better property.

the toilet roll was the very cheap kind and was only bad thing.

Location - 10 mins from good places to eat, the City Hall and other venues where Celtic Connectons events were being held and celebrated

Owing to a train strike I needed to extend my stay by 1 day. This proved to be a more difficult operation than might have been foreseen. The Hotel itself provided me with the means to contact booking.com and it looked quite possible that I would be charged twice that is my journey was initially Feb3-6 and owing to the train strike was amended with difficulty, to Feb2-6 by the same person. I could not respond to emails sent by booking.com which wasn't helpful ..

Room was very clean, Bed was very comfortable (sofa bed could do with more padding!) Staff remembered to stock us with extra towels, tea, coffee etc for extra capacity bed (unlike other hotels!) - however no extra mug. Reception staff and breakfast staff were brilliant.

Room could do with additional sockets / charge points, especially next to the beds! - we had three phones, a tablet and two smart watches to charge overnight.(We had the smart idea to charge up our battery bank through the day to charge a device at night, but the removal of the keycard on our exit, kills the sockets as well as the lights.) Carpark (though doesn't belong to hotel) is a bit rough and ready.
