Far and away my best accommodation over the last 2.5 weeks in Portugal (and I was staying in 4 and 5 star hotels). Picture an old, historical mansion left vacant for decades. The new owners spent 3 years carefully keeping the old "bones" but modernizing it for savvy, contemporary guests and adding a design aesthetic which is bold yet pleasing and comfortable. Add a beautiful pool and deck area, excellent meals, kind and service-oriented owners and staff, and you have an experience to remember.

Nothing. Some travellers may be put off by the bus terminal across the street but the sound of the Colegio's water feature blocks most of any noise. Not an issue for me.

The location was ideal - a five minute walk to the centre of Tavira, yet it was very quiet. There is a lovely terrace for brakfast and dinner. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The food is of an extremely high standard. There is a good variety of healthy foods for breakfast and the dinner we had on the first evening was exceptional. We had the Africa room, which was very well decorated, and the bed was extremely comfortable once in it. The bedding was of good quality. The awimming pool was very refreshing with a lovely decked area for relaxing/sunbathing

The bed in the Africa room was very low, and placed on a wooden raft like structure, which made it a bit difficult for getting in and out, and we had to be careful not to bash our ankles on it. It would probably be fine for younger people!

Lovely attention to detail, rooms beautiful, breakfast divine, dinner great, service fab, pool lovely. Great roof terrace. Well thought out.

We were graciously upgraded to the main floor due to steep stairs and no elevator. The hotel is very charming and has an outstanding management and staff. They were warm, friendly and very professional. The respect they showed towards each other and camaraderie made their service outstanding. The dinner was amazing. Michelin * grade. Do not miss the opportunity to have a meal here. Breakfast was really good along with the food and the snack menu. Food presentation was excellent. Felipe the manager is a gem. The owner was also warm and welcoming. This is our new home away from home.

Most beautiful interior design and decor, carefully thought out interesting spaces. The breakfast was astounding and staff friendly and attentive.

We had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful boutique hotel. The Owners Jose,Christina are so welcoming and staff are exceptional at meeting and exceeding any and all requests. A big thank you to Phillipe,Sonya and Allie. If you are looking for a hotel with stunning facilities, beautiful rooms and only a few minutes walk to the Town Center you have found it here. we honestly couldn’t recommend it high enough. We also wanted to say, make sure you enjoy a meal at the hotel. They have an amazing award winning chef that will take your palette to a whole new level. Be sure to challenge him. We ordered in Lobster one evening and asked him to surprise us. OMG!! Enjoy your stay!! Hope you enjoy it and Tavira as much as we did!! Wen and Steve

the history of this beautifully restored property! the rooms were beautifully appointed with the most comfortable bed and luxurious sheets we’ve slept in during our Portugal travels. our room , facing the back of the property had a private pool which was absolutely worth it! the breakfasts were decadent and the unique touch of fresh baked cake to self serve any time was wonderful. we were walking steps to everything in Tavira. The handwritten welcome note is a small example of why Colegio is a cut above !

Cristina is an outstanding hostess - a minor improvement for suggestion would be for her staff to have deeper knowledge of the tourist /restaurants in. both Tavira and Algarve.( or have 1 ‘go to’ expert on staff)

The staff are attentive, friendly, very good at English, and will go out of their way to provide anything you ask for. The breakfast was amazing each day, and the rooftop patio was the most wonderful space to have a glass of wine and unwind in the evenings. The decor is simply beautiful. A lot of attention went into each detail, and it shows! We loved the patio on our room as well. The loungers provided were quite comfortable and the plunge pool was a good size (although very cold...it is not heated!).

Our room was a bit of a challenge due to space. The bed was raised up like a loft so you had extra sitting room under it. The bed was a bit too hard, and the stairs to get up and down were very tricky (narrow, no railing), particularly if you are a larger man (tall, wide shoulders, as my husband is).

Collegio Charm house is indeed very charming! We took a family suite, and our daughter had her own little bedroom on the mezzanine, with the most delightful decorations and toys, it really was like something out of a fairytale! Our own part of the suite was very spacious and very tastefully decorated. We also had a fantastic terrace and pool, far bigger than we expected. Breakfast was a treat each morning, with a variety of all things delicious, all locally produced. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. The surprise dinner was a real treat, we chose the fish option and it didnt disappoint. Collegio Charm House is just a wonder and we cannot wait to return next year :)

The car park wasn't very practical and a bit difficult to find. Thats all!
