Vila Gale Porto - Centro

- Pool was great - myself and my kid enjoyed the pool a lot. Even though it is small, the hotel manages to limit the access at certain time via booking - it requires a bit of booking/planning but this went super smooth for us. - Breakfast was plenty - we really enjoyed the variety of melons and fruits. - We was lucky enough to get the room with higher view towards the city with help from a staff member - it is really recommended. Room was clean and got cleaned every day. - Staffs were communicative and very helpful - we appreciate that a lot. - The location was great - close to super market, KFC, bus/metro. It takes less than 20 minutes by walk to get to most parts in the centrals of Porto.

The only thing I don't like is the bed - I used to sleep in a king-size bed, thus it is a bit uncomfortable without that (we got two small bed combined instead).

The spa facilities were excellent (we swam there every day, used the sauna and the steam room as well as booked a massage), we had breakfast included which was an amazingly rich buffet with great service. Most of the receptionists were very helpful and friendly. We had a fabulous time there!

One evening, the pizza at the restaurant on the ground floor was very pale and tasted bland - but the pasta was nice. It was very busy that evening in the restaurant, so the pizza might have been just a one off - not a major issue - some of the dishes I cook are also not always the tastiest:). Overall we loved how we were treated and welcomed there and we absolutely loved the facilities and the location of the hotel. Not too far from center (we walked every day to the river and back) and yet far enough to have peace and quiet.

Very slow check in. Rooms and bathrooms are very tired. Carpets had lots of stains. Bathroom generally need updating. Grouting stained, sealant discoloured. Just looks old and tired. When we booked pool time slot at reception for the next day we were not told we needed pool towels or swimming caps. when we got to pool we were told to go down to reception and get pool towels and buy a swim cap. By the time we done this half of our 1 hour slot had gone.

price is a bit too high, as rooms are a bit old. also, durring our stay the pool was not working and nothing was offered for that, not even a discount for a massage.

Very good breakfast, wide choice. The staff are very friendly and provide all the information you need.

The hotel is very large and the staff asks you to specify your breakfast time in advance. The restaurant is very crowded. Sometimes you have to wait a long time for the lift, especially at breakfast time. Too few power sockets in the room.

Great pool, sauna, Turkish bath, jacuzzi. Don’t forget to bring a bathing cap. Inclusive breakfast and dinner were really good; would get old after 4-5 days but delicious for a 4 night stay. Highly recommended. The service was also amazing; lovely staff who spoke many languages and were always smiling and kind. Amazing view!

Nothing to dislike. But being picky: The pool could have been a tad warmer. The jacuzzi was nice but one of the jets was broken. Nothing bad really.

At first we got the family room, which was like a dungeon. Absolutely horrible. Tiny, dark and not what we were expecting. After complaining to the management, we were upgraded for literally 30 Euros more to an amazing wrap around balcony room that was beyond words - almost like a penthouse. This room made our whole stay fantastic. With views of all of Porto, we were just blown away. Kudos to the staff for stepping up and providing this alternative. Breakfast buffet is beyond fantastic. Pool and sauna is wonderful. Pool is as pictured with hardly any people there. Many metro stations around so you can easily travel to the center.

Overall, this doesn't seem like a new hotel. The rooms are not modern (at least the first one we got), but maybe that's just a select few. The last room we got was beyond amazing with its views. Location also, is not necessarily centrally located, but with a 4-5 Euro cab ride, or a quick metro ticket, you're in the heart of the center.

The staff. Extremely friendly and helpful. Always with a smile on their face and really professional. Most of them speak English, Spanish and Portuguese Perfectly. Amazing!!!

The mattress was too soft, like the old fashion style. The double bed was made of 2 single beds. There was a crack between them, so we had to sleep beside each other but not together. The shower tiles could use some bleach.

Location, breakfast and the pool and it’s marvellous view. Hotel is very close to the metro station and there is direct line from the airport. Breakfast buffet is very good. Hotel’s pool is at the top floor and probably one of the best place to Porto view.

The room is really comfortable and cleaned. I stayed in the 16 floor where I could enjoy a great view from Porto. The breakfast has a great variety of food (breads, cakes, yogurts, eggs, fruits, cereals, coffees, lattes, and so on).

The swimming pool area was too crowed. I also spent too many time waiting for the lifts. The minibar was free and there were little variety of drinks, for instance, there were 2 guests on the room and in the minibar there was only 1 small bottle of pop and 1 small bottle of beer. Always, the breakfast restaurant was too crowed, and there wasn't any rule or precaution against Covid. Another negative point is that there is no sanitizer hand in the front desk and in the restaurant, in my opinion the sanitizer hand has been part of our daily life whereas Covid isn't eradicated.
