Down2Town B&B

Wonderful stay here. We loved the breakfast! They had an espresso machine and milk frother so you could make your own coffee (which was delicious). The breads and fresh melon and selection of cheese was great and it was so nice to be able to sit outside on the patio to eat; it was lovely and quiet. There wasn’t much interaction with the hosts but they were always easy to find in the office and very kind and helpful. They gave detailed instructions for how to get into the hotel so it was a very easy check in. The rooms were cozy and clean!

Not a problem and actually found it unique but the bathroom in our room was on the bottom level with a spiral staircase. The hotel itself is in a traditional walk up building so expect that there are stairs and the doors are not sound proof but that isn’t an issue at all and it’s just accepting that most places in portugal are like this due to the aged (but extremely charming!) buildings.

Avoid breakfast. I don't expect much from the little hotels and I don't really need much, but most of the ingredients including bread were too cheap, and, in turn, it means that they are made of bad ingredients or at least not healthy. Sorry guys I know you are trying to make a living, but canned mango and these strange underbaked croissants were not good. The "cake" was so sweet that I felt sick till the mid of the day. The tea water also came from the electric pot which means the water is being reboiled all the time to make it hot. So it's just the breakfast, the rest is good.

We arrived.to the hotel at 8 pm. The hotel was easy to find and easy to check in. The location was excellent. To our shock, although the room was lovely there was no toilet door. No privacy when going to the toilet! And no warning as well. We were lucky to get another room instead. The pict in booking are definitely better than the place itself. Breakfast was lovely and the garden outside was very pleasant

I was in transit, I stayed only one night. The room was very cool. The room decor is vintage, only the bed mattress and the shower are the modern things these days. I appreciate the fact that such a design takes you back in time, I don't think there was even a TV in the room (I wouldn't have had time to use it anyway). They also have a super cool garden with chairs and tables. Maybe next time I will stay longer!

Everything was OK! But maybe if I had stayed longer, I would have liked a TV in the room.

The place is within 5-10min walking distance to most of the city centre, the building has a nice charm and the view from the balcony was stunning. The breakfast was very nice, fresh produce and a good variety. The rooms and common areas were clean and tidy. There was good communication with the owners.

This is not a real private suite. The 2 rooms are advertised as a Private suite but the bathroom is not actually enclosed nor fully private. The rooms and the bathroom all sit on the third floor with open access via the stairs. The bathroom could be accessed by mistake by other guests as this is not enclosed or separate unit within the building. A more accurate description would be "bedrooms with private bathroom" rather than "Private Suite".

The hotel was in a good location and made for a good place to stay in Porto. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was not bad (not the best either). The coffee machine was available 24/7 which was nice.

There were a few things that added up. One night we were woken up very early in the morning by workers talking extremely loudly as they did something with large laundry bags. I had to get up and ask them to try to be quite. The wood floors in our room had multiple spots that were broken (literal holes) so we had to be careful to not get splinters when walking barefoot.

The lovely recepcionist was amazing. So helpful, nice and happy. Great service in this small hotel. We arrived at 00 and the instructions were really clear and easy to follow. We checked in the next day and then we were leaving really early to catch our flight so the check out was also super easy. Highly recommend this place if you like to stay in a small independent B&B with everything you need.

There was not a single thing we didn't like.

The B&B was well situated, a walking distance from spots of interest in the city. Room was clean, spacious, as was the bathroom. No TV - a big plus! Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly and provided good information for exploring the city. I had booked a room with river view, and what a view that was! So beautiful, looking over the old house roofs to the waters. It was fabulous!

Breakfast time started at 8.30, so unfortunately being picked up for an previously organized trip I had no chance to get breakfast earlier. [Normally it is fine not having to wake up for the breakfast too early =)... ] People playing loud music, and stomping and shouting in the stairway late at night were a nuisance.

The room we stayed in is magnificent. Just the bed, the view, the terrace, the restroom, the living room. Everything was spectacular. We had a really nice time and would come back for sure. Just pleasant!

Our stay would have been more than perfect if the staff hadn’t a bit unfriendly during breakfast. We went to get one more cup of coffee just before she cleared the table and got harsh comments. We know there is a schedule and tried not to bother but it happens to wake up late when travelling.

The location: it is few minutes away from the attractions of the city and it is easy to park nearby. Also having breakfast in the patio is lovely!

It might be uncomfortable for someone not to have a proper wall dividing the room from the bathroom, so that there is not much privacy; therefore I would recommend the b&b to couples in a long-standing relationship or to very close friends! 😅
