Hotel Baia Azul

Great location surrounded by a lot of cafes and restaurants. The hotel is full of different activities, two swimming pools, great places for chilling out, evening life music on the nice terrace with ocean view. Friendly, helpful and professional staff. The room was pretty big, very clean and modern with a huge very comfortable bed and air-conditioning. Great cleaning service 👍 every day sweet treats to the room ☺️ We would like to be back to this hotel for 💯

The breakfast could be more diverse specially if you stay for a week or more. It would be better to have the silent mode with the air-conditioning, specially at night. It is a little bit noisy.

The manager was very understanding and accommodating at check in. The room, the view, the cleanliness, friendliness of the staff, the facilities. We loved the outside terrace. Price of drinks was very reasonable. The evening entertainment. Although the hotel was full and breakfast was busy, we never had to queue for very long and we always found a somewhere to sit. The restaurant staff very very efficient at clearing tables.

There is very little we did not like. Just one observation, at breakfast buffet, the hot dishes could have been hotter. At checkout, although efficient, weren't thanked for our stay or said they hoped to see us again, which was a shame.

Large room with comfortable bed, staff excellent and breakfast plentiful. Also ate in the buffet restaurant one night and again the food was very good.

The air-con controller in our room stopped working during the first night, but left the air-con at maximum so room was absolutley freezing and noisy. In fairness to the staff they fixed it immediately the following day when we told them. As country folk we are used to total quiet where we live, so we did find the road behind the hotel quite noisy till very late at night, though I suspect most people wouldn't notice it

clean beautiful hotel. gorgeous sunrise views in the morning. very nicely done sauna and Turkish steam room. hotel is close to restaurants and shops and a gorgeous walking promenade. offers car rental that was quick and easy.

Lovely hotel, great location surrounded by a lot of cafes and restaurants, near shopping center. Room was very clean, spacious and good design. Bathroom is also good and spacious. Bathrobe, slippers, kettle, minibar - all you need was there. Very good breakfast is a standard buffet but with enough variety and you can enjoy it with a brilliant sea view. Very nice terrace bar on 6th with view to the sea. Complimentary shuttle to and from downtown Funchal, if you have auto you can get a parking place. There's a large patio where they have live music in the evening, the staff were all very friendly and helpful

opening hours for the pool inconvenient , spa and gym - open at 8 am, closed at 8pm, breakfast at 7 - it could be earlier; the long breakfast coffee machine queue is so wrong and it would be so easy to solve

Location close to the sea and Ponta Gorda bathing complex (5 min on foot); proximity to Lido promenade and Forum shopping center. Plenty of restaurants around. Excellent breakfast, but only starts at 7am - too late for hiking. Massage in SPA was awesome. Bed was comfortable, balcony with sea view very handy. Bathrobe, slippers, kettle, minibar - all you need was there. Very nice terrace bar on 6th with view to the sea.

15€ per week for use of room safe - should be included. Hotel parking was not available during my stay, but I always managed to find place nearby, despite high season. Noisy aircon in the room.

Facility was clean, staff were super nice, the pools were never crowded . The breakfast spread was amazing

Dinner cost 30 euros per person but we were never informed the days we went in to eat. Thr menu at the front door had no price on it and the card in the room had no information on it. The pool was said to be a heated a pool but the water was still cold. But nothing bad enough that I wouldn't recommend the facility, just some better communication would have been nice

The property had a very beautiful interior as well as exterior. it had extensive amount of space for breakfast and even had a lovely view. The facilities were amazing and the gym was very well-equipped. The pool area was very relaxing. Staff were very attentive and went out of their way to ensure we were well taken care-off. We also loved the fact that there would be small surprises in our room when we got back from a day of sightseeing.

The only development point was perhaps the consistency of the air conditioning in the rooms, especially at night.

Nice rooms, pleasant neighborhood, awesome fruit selection for breakfast, fresh daily omelette. We appreciated a welcome glass of Madeira vine.

The construction site across the street from our windows – we couldn’t really use the balcony. For this price parking could have been included in the room price. Very full – breakfast becomes a bit chaotic with so many people. I would recommend to book a sea view room. In our case they were not available.

Everything met our expectations! Clean room, nice amenities, and an amazing breakfast buffet. The breakfast impressed us the most. Also a great location for a base if you want to get to nearby hikes (about an hour away) and restaurants. Felt like a solid value for a large king room, ocean views from the pool, and newer facilities.

Rating it a 9 not a 10 because it didn’t necessarily exceed our expectations. You get what is advertised and it’s a reliable choice. Pool is also on the small side and shallow, but views are great (not from our room but from pool). Drinks are OK, concierges were amazing to us but the other staff seemed less hospitable.
