Hotel Do Caracol

Great location, 12min walk to the centre of Angro de Herisimo, comfortable rooms, buffet a decent option for a night, but for the better quality restaurants it's best to head into the centre. Spectacular views of the bay, good terraces to have a drink in the evening (food available here also, sandwiches are good (but rest of bar menu a bit pricey for the quality). Bartender (his name escapes me) working the terrace bar very competent and friendly. Pool area is a good space, but recommend going outside and down to the dock and mix with the locals too! Good to have a 24hr front desk available to solve any queries.

The hotel was in good location within Angra. It had nice view to the ocean, which you could enjoy from bar area where lunch, dinner or just drinks could be served. They had spa, which was a pleasure after days spent walking, exploring caves and travelling. If you arrive early, there is possibility to drop off your luggage, which I found extremely useful.

I was missing wider selection of food for breakfast. In addition, I was missing kettle and iron in the room (I have not asked the staff if it is possible to get from the reception, but it is very likely that it is, which I have not done). It was also challenging with parking in front of the hotel (they do have parking area when you are checked in and you can use keycard from the room to access; however prior check in the space for parking is very limited in front of the entrance).

Location and pool area and easy access to the public concrete beach area via the gate was great. Breakfast was also good. Small fridge in the room was useful. The room itself was similar size and set up to a Premier inn room and bathroom but with a balcony. Useful shops nearby - PoliAngra restaurant and a small supermarket and ice cream shop just over the road. Taxi booking by the hotel was reliable - 5 euros into city, 22 to the airport.

Twin beds were pushed together and even when we separated them, housekeeping kept pushing them back together - so we gave up. Not a a biggie. Housekeeping was generally around 3-5pm each day so some days we said don’t bother if we wanted to use the room then. The hotel dinner buffet has no vegetarian option if you don’t eat meat or fish - but this is a problem generally on the island. Very hard to get any decent vegetarian food (PoliAngra restaurant over the road were the most accommodating).

This hotel is beautifully set by the ocean. The biggest positives: 3 places to swim - indoor pool (always with no people), outdoor pool (also never crowded), ocean; bus stop and good restaurant just outside; relaxed atmosphere and feeling like there are only few people even if hotel is full. Everywhere is clean, breakfast is good enough („breakfast coffee” is awful, but you can ask waiter for nice real espresso). Ocean wiev rooms facing East don’t let your room get hot and you can enjoy shade at balcony in the afternoon. Generally - great experience!

Room had a balcony and overlooked the ocean. Breakfast was buffet with a large selection of food. There was a nice garden in the back that led to the ocean swimming area and there is an outdoor pool.

I don't recommend using the underground garage. The garage tunnel is very very narrow going into the garage and out of the garage. It is very difficult to maneuver the vehicle through the winding tunnel.

Very clean. Staff were very friendly. the bar is lovely and we had all our meals there, sitting outside, rather than in the restaurant.

Nothing we didn’t like. some improvements could be made as the furnishings are getting a little dated. the large balcony in the rooms with sea view could have nicer chairs for sitting/lying. it is.a little day out of Angra so you need to either drive or be prepared to walk to restaurants. Not a problem for us.

The property itself is beautiful and the location is great. The pool area is connected to one of the beaches in the island, the view is perfect and a 20 min walk to the beautiful town. Breakfast, which is included, was good with lots of options. Lastly, the staff was super nice and helpful.

The pillows were a bit uncomfortable

The hotel was in an excellent location! Located directly on the ocean with hotel pool and Angra community swimming area. We enjoyed both! We have never stayed at a hotel with such wonderful staff. Everyone was exceptionally kind & friendly. The staff that we interacted with often were Carla, Carlos & Duarte. It was my son’s birthday and Carla made certain of champagne and cake were waiting in our room to celebrate. Each staff member made us feel welcome. Carlos at the hotel bar was the best bartender in the world. He was friendly and always welcomed us. Duarte gave us great directions and advice and went over and beyond with making certain we had everything we needed for our stay. Carla had constant contact with me before & during our trip to Terceira. We have traveled many places in the world and this was the best experience by far. Stay at this hotel you will be very pleased with everything. The people of Terceira are the warmest and friendliest you will find anywhere.

View from the balcony was awesome. Each morning the free breakfast was perfect and the two story room was like a small condo.

Some items like outdoor balcony chairs were dated and worn.

The view is excellent, the swimming pool amazing! Very good choice of breakfast, very nice dinner for a reasonable price! Very clean! Thank you cleaning ladies for your hard work! The bar also very nice! Muito bom!

The price! It was a bit expensive but is a 4 star hotel in August is always expensive. And the room and the bed could be bigger!
