Hotel Wentzl

I did not realise that this hotel is situated right on the doorstep of the main city square! What an absolute bargain it was to stay here and such an ideal location to set off in order to explore the city of Krakow. We join the illustrious ranks of Hilary Swank and Sting, who have also stayed here, and have left their autographs in the foyer. It is just a little treasure because it is so unassuming when you look at the hotel from the front. The room had a high ceiling, so gave the impression of a lot of space, and the view from our window was just amazing. We could even hear the regular trumpet call from the main cathedral nearby with the windows open, but we would not be disturbed when the windows were shut. I would also recommend the breakfasts as their menu was lovely to enjoy for the 3 days that we stayed, so enough options and variety.

The only thing that I wish we didn't do was accept the offer of the airport taxi that hotel got for us to take us back, as it was the single most expensive thing that we paid for. I had used booking.com to get my taxi from the airport to the hotel, which was fine. And i should have tried to make more efforts to learn about the local trams network.

The location is excellent. We had a top floor room with a tiny balcony that overlooked the square, hours of entertainment. Good size room, very good bathroom with a large walk in shower. Good coffee facilities. Fridge - milk supplied. Good breakfast, on the days when hot food was not on display they cook to order for you, full English. Safe.

Slightly short on wardrobe space. The air con was hard to get right, it worked well but tended to blast cold air down onto the bed. Kraków square is noisy on a Saturday night, be aware, but it's the price you pay to be there. Other nights were quieter and it didn't spoil the stay.

My whole experience there was fantastic. The hotel was situated in the heart of the city. Our bedroom was very well equipped and looked amazing with four post bed and views of the market Square. Very traditional room in keeping with the originality of the era of the city. The breakfast was exceptional and staff very attentive and also was served breakfast in our room at our request. Overall a fantastic choice for anyone wanting to experience a traditional stay in the city centre.

My only critasisim would be there was no availability of alcohol in our mini bar only soft drinks. Also hot water was a bit scarce in afternoons.

Its location right on the square in the centre of Krakow is perfect. The hotel was clean and well laid out. Nothing fussy - just sensible and easy to access anytime. The windows were very well double glazed and kept out noise from the square when we needed it. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Gregory found us a restaurant, negotiated successfully with a hire car company and got them to deliver it to us, and was full of helpful advice and suggestions. Bartek too was extremely helpful and gave us much assistance.

Nothing. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and will stay there again if and when we return.

Great location with great view on main market square. Double windows are effective to isolate the room from the sometimes noisy marquet square. We appreciated being provided with lunch boxes in lieu of breakfast when we had to leave at 7am for a tour and breakfast was not yet available. Loved the atmosphere and decoration of room 25 and of the hotel in general. Although I booked a deluxe room, we were assigned by mistake a standard room for 2 nights before being moved to the right room. Hotel staff apologized and compensated by offering the taxi to the airport. Very courteous staff at reception, willing to help and provide information.

No chocolate drink available for breakfast for teenagers or kids.

As usual I read all the reviews before booking my stay at the Wentzl and I was not disappointed. From the check in to the room, and booking of taxi, all was done with a smile and great courtesy. As mentioned, the location of the hotel is around the old town square, so even though you are bang in the middle of activity and buzz of the square, the sound is easily cut off once the double windows are shut. We skipped the breakfast, but the location of the hotel gives you walking access to many eateries and sites around the square. Nothing like finishing off the evening watching the people mingle from your room window, the bells of the cathedral and the décor of the room. We had a wonderful time at Wentzl and would stay there when I visit again. A special shout out to the front desk staff, who were always courteous and willing to help in any way possible. THANK YOU.

Nothing to not like

A precious jewel of a hotel located in the Main Square of Krakow. Small boutique type hotel with well appointed rooms ( be sure to request view of the square). Wonderful restaurants, shopping, and beautiful churches are a short walk nearby. Staff is very helpful.We have stayed 3 times. Our only complaint this visit was poor maid service. our bed though made looked like a child had done it… wrinkles and folds in sheets and duvet. Coffee pot not emptied. It was an inconvenience but we did not even mention. That has not happened on previous visits. Highly recommend this hotel.

The maid service could improve

The staff were keen to make our trip special as soon as I booked. They arranged taxis from and to the airport, dinner at their restaurant and another, and two trips - one to the salt mines and one to Auschwitz. They were quick to answer any queries I had and this helped so much. We had adjoining rooms with our children, both of which looked over the Old Town square which was beautiful - as we were on the top floor we also had a little balcony. The breakfasts were perfect for our needs and the room was looked after really well and always clean and tidy to return to.

An excellent location by the main square and a great view from the window. Interesting old-style interior decoration. Very easy access to sightseeing, shopping, restaurants, public transport. Very friendly and helpful staff in the reception, breakfast and housekeeping. Big comfy bed. Excellent breakfast with a lot of choice (even if it took longer to eat than in a buffet because you had to order your choices from a menu card every morning). Very quiet room even if it was in the main square.

There could have been a bit more lighting in the room. We hurt our toes several times because the feet of the bed were not under the bed but came further out than the bed frame.

Location is superb. Hotel and the hotel decor is nice with old woorden furniture special care was taken on the bathrooms. Breakfast is with HUGE portions of very pleasent quality and several choices (e.g. smoked trout). Reception and dining staff was extremely nice and helpfull. View from the windows (both the room and the dining hall) were marvelous.

Parking and car unpacking is demanding due to the very central and perfect location, one must count with it. Beds were huge but not very comfortable. There is simply no sound insulation on the room entry doors (actually a big gap under it) so when at early morning the landlady started to throw the bad linen packages on the floor of the corridor, it was rather disturbing.
