Hotel Alexander

.the location is great, central (next leidsplein square) yet quiet, 1 minute walk from vondel park, 30 minutes walk from central station you can easliy access the hotel from the airport with 397 bus they have a cute lobby and a small garden where you can drink tea and smoke. the hotel neighboors have cute cats that sometimes visit the garden the room was bigger than I expected, had a nice small balcony, and the bed was very comfortable. I was really happy with my choice

the only thing that bothered me was the fact that the room did not had a mini fridge

The location was great and the staff were lovely. It was only 20mins tram from the central station and you could walk to most places quite easily. Five mins walk from main restaurants such as Hard Rock Cafe and Wagamama. The room we were given was big enough for 3 guests, however not having tea and coffee facilities in the room, not having power points next to two out of three beds and being in the basement with no air con and not wanting to open the window due to people walking past and car fumes were not good and really let the hotel down. I requested a high quiet room and couldn’t have got further from that in the basement and noisy road.

Lack of power points and being in the basement

The location of the hotel was perfect. Away from the hustle and bustle and easy access to transport into town. 10 mins walking distance from restaurants and 5 mins from a superstore to buy foods. The room was located on the underground floor but had windows for air to flow in. The hotel has free coffee and tea 24 hours of the day, which was very handy when you come back in after a long day out in the cold. The staff was very helpful, especially Idalia, who provided a lot of information and was very friendly.

One thing I found out is that the heaters in the rooms are not working, but that was not an issue for us at the time as we found the rooms warm enough. The other thing i found out a bit odd is that you couldn't have your hot drink in the room. You had to be in reception to have as many coffees or teas.

The room was actually larger than pictured. Bed was comfortable and it had a small desk that was not pictured so a bonus. we really liked the "lobby' that was a comfy place to have tea or coffee and where the optional breakfast was served. The breakfasts were very good and informal. The staff members were very helpful; recommende a really good cab service that was dependable, on time and a better value than I could find otherwise. The hotel's location is just great and so convenient to museums, restaurants, bars, etc.

We booked a family room for 4 people which was comfortable and quaint with a view of the inner courtyard. Cute patio off the back to enjoy our morning or afternoon coffee. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Location was perfect for our daily adventures with a quick walk to the train, museums, and park. Hotel Alexander made our visit to Amsterdam quite pleasant. Thank you!

Price was a little high but that seemed on par for most hotels in Amsterdam in July.

Positives: 1. Location - Near supermarkets/restaurants/shops (within 5-10 minute walk) 2. Staff - Friendly and helpful 3. Safe - The neighborhood feels safe, good for families. The main entrance of the hotel itself is not easily accessible without a key card or the hotel staff letting you in. 4. Comfy Beds and Well-heated rooms.

1. Stairs - It's difficult to carry luggages; the elevator only stops at some floors and stairs are unavoidable unless you are staying on the ground floor. 2. Rooms - Not properly lighted, some are really dark even for hotel rooms.

Excellent boutique hotel with friendly and efficient staff. This hotel is a great base to help you see all the sights that Amsterdam has to offer. Free tea and coffee in the reception area, we didn't partake of the continental breakfast but it seemed very popular with the other guests at the hotel. There are lots of cafes, restaurants and bars nearby.

Nothing to complain about, Our room was downstairs and you could hear quite a bit of noise from upstairs.

+ Location was ideal for a first visit - 20 minute walk to the centre, and no need to take trams each day + Small but cosy rooms, comfortable beds and clean showers + Receptionist was helpful giving directions for the tram/bus back to the airport + Free maps and information in reception were available to take if you wished + Coffee/tea/hot chocolate machine available for free use in reception

- It would've been ideal to have been able to take a cup of hot chocolate upstairs to our room (but there were signs saying this wasn't allowed)

I was in Amsterdam for the first time and was suprised with the location of Alexander hotel. The district is very beautiful and quiet, in walking distance (2km) from the center (but what to consider as the main center in Amsterdam? ;), boat station is 3-5 minutes walk from the hotel, bus station is aslo very close (bus to and from airport stops there). Hotel inside is the same as on photos. Nice design. The furniture is not very new but the hotel does not pretend to be 5 star hotel :) Coffee and tea are for free during the day at the reception.

The location was fantastic - in very close proximity to Vondelpark and the main shopping area in Amsterdam. The room was comfortable and the property has a lift which was great to have with heavy luggage. We stayed in a Small Double Room, bed was great, bathroom was a good size but next time I would go for the bigger room option as it was quite small if you are traveling with a lot of luggage.

The hotel room was beautifully designed but the bathroom can do with a small upgrade such as replacing the shower curtain with glass and a stronger pressured shower. It would also be very convenient to have had a tea making station in the room which was lacking.
