Hotel Aura del Mar

This is a well-located hotel with clean rooms, magnificent views, excellent wifi, a nice pool, friendly/helpful staff and bilingual parrots. It is easy to walk to the central town (centro) via the beach and new walkway and to also walk to many nearby restaurants down the hill such as favorites La Gula and Casanova’s on nearby Calle Adelita. There is also a small store directly across the street for snacks and beverages which is very convenient. The nightly turndown service is also a nice touch. Thank you to Rosalba (Gaby), Hector, and Carlos for making my stay extra special. The onsite restaurant on the beach was great and the breakfast was exceptional. I noticed that local residents were also eating breakfast here for special occasions which says something about the quality of their food and service.

Everything was great. The one very small flaw was that the wood-fired pizza oven at the restaurant was not operational for the majority of my stay. Needless to say, I did not travel to Mexico to eat pizza but wanted to try it for lunch as this is something that they actively promote. Hopefully they can fix this for future guests as this is something that differentiates their restaurant from other nearby restaurants.

Location was fantastic, overlooking and right on the beach of Zihuatanejo bay. Easy taxi or relatively easy/moderate walk to restaurants, shopping, and other beaches. The hotel was very classic boutique Mexico style and the rooms were large, comfortable with AC, a balcony hot tub, and a commanding ocean view

Lots of stairs to climb to and from the beach, pool, and restaurant to your room and the check in area. Pool waiter service was spotty, the service bell that guests were to use to alert the bar didn't really work. The shower head in our room #2 was in need of replacement, it was pretty erratic.

Loved this hotel! From the friendly welcome to the charming room with a private balcony to the stunning property, we enjoyed every minute of our stay. All service was friendly and accommodating, the location near the Malacon was great for walks into town and we enjoyed morning and evening swims with beachfront access. Nice pool area and lounge chairs on patio overlooking the ocean. Also took the hotel’s kayak for a paddle around the bay. Happy hour with 2 for 1 drinks on the upper patio bar was lovely at sunset.

We needed to add water to the toilet to get it to flush, and our dinner in the restaurant was disappointing (Caesar salad with no garlic and heavy Worcestershire and entree not great either).

loved the pool, restaurant, and Palapas on the beach. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. The hotel is charming with lots of shared space overlooking the cliff to the ocean. You can easily access the sea walk or a short walk to restaurants and night life.

The advertised jacuzzi is no more than a large outdoor bathtub that can be filled. However, it takes a long time to fill it, even longer if you want it hot, as the hot water is a little more than a tickle. The hotel is charming on the hillside, but the long stairway down to the beach is not for those with weak knees.

Everything! The place is a wonderfully cared for property with great staff (the staff seem well cared for and take pride in their work) Art and artistry everywhere you look set amidst lovely gardens.

The wifi could be greatly improved around the pool area, it’s the only criticism I have. The hotel was a tremendous amount of stair-climbing as part of its charm, it’s either a physical workout you enjoy (me!) or something you won’t, be warned!

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean and well kept. The hotel grounds are lush with greenery. The rooms are rustic but comfortable and cleaned twice a day. The view of the ocean from our room was just breathtaking. The pool is a good size and has a very fun slide for kids and adults. Breakfast is exceptional. I can confidently recommend.

Although the rooms do have wall mounted AC units, it did feel a bit stuffy/humid the 1st night.. it took our room about a day to really cool down. After that it stayed very cool and comfortable. Just a note that this hotel does not have an elevator.

awesome, comfy and classy hotel, in a beautiful classic style with green gardens throughout the property, very comfy rooms with good AC’s that cool the room nicely, I had the room that had the jacuzzi tub outside on the patio deck, and it was marvelous to sit in the warm jacuzzi tub at sunrise and drink my coffee at daybreak… Hotel Aura Del Mar is my ONLY choice for a hotel when I’m in Zihu!

Beautiful sea view from our room. Short walk to the beach, coffee shop down the hill, small market across the street, good restaurant connected to the hotel, good restaurant right next to the resort as well. Hammock on our balcony, spa tub, robes, attentive staff, fantastic massages at spa. Laundry down the street for dollars to get any clothes clean. Carlos hooked us up on a tour with Carlos #2 for a great tour of Zihuatanejo. it was well worth it. Our beds were turned down nightly, fresh coffee, bottled water and coconut treats/flower petals left on the bed. Everyone there was so kind, helpful and attentive. We will be back for sure. This was an amazing way to celebrate our 20 year anniversary! The best to play in the sea like bath water!!! We miss it already. 🌹❤️ Close to everything, banks, DT and Marina.

Location was fabulous. Staff was always willing to help. The balconies were fantastic and almost all rooms have a view. The sunset bar upstairs was a fun place for happy hour (5 to 6), with the usual stunning views.

In our 2nd room, 107 the staff must be stationed close by. They would chatter quite loud at 6 a.m. we never said anything, because they were so good in every other way. I read McCaw's should eat 20% fruit and veggies. I only saw them feed them sunflower seeds, so may I suggest leftovers from the kitchen. Lots of stairs, so a consideration for the infirm.

The location, and the facility were fantastic. It is on the beach, and it offers a very comfortable lounge area, and a restaurant that offers one of the best food around. It is also by el Camino del pescador, a path for pedestrians to walk along the beach line to the marina, and that takes you to several eateries, and spots by the beach. Our room had an awesome beach view, with a balcony.

The only thing that I personally did not like much was the stairs, but I understand it is built on a slope, and it has no elevator, so in order to go from the rooms to the beach you must take the stairs, but is doable.
