The best place I've stayed during my travel through Mexico! You stay at the land where the owners also live. This family are the friendliest people who will make sure you enjoy your stay. Even though last minute, they arranged a tour for me to Calakmul and they also took me on a fantastic and adventurous hike. Breakfast is amazing and in the afternoon / evening you can order some wine and snacks (guacamole, quesadillas) which are all delicious, and for me it was enough for dinner. They have a short walk on the grounds as well where you can see a lot of birds. The cottage where you stay is spacious and comfortable, including airco, hot shower and a fridge. The place is slightly out of town so tranquile setting, but only a 2-minute ride if you do need something.

The only thing that I missed was being able to tap filtered water somewhere. They do provide a bottle of water each day but given the heat you definitely need more than that.

Very friendly hosts who provided very early breakfast so we could go early to visit calakmul. They also provided a good lunchbox to take away. On our demand they provided a very good guide David of Dantatours who guided us in calakmul. He spoke very good English and gave us a wonderful experience with exploring fauna, flora and ruins of calakmul.

The sign, coming from bacalar, is hard to find because there are some trucks parked in front of ecohabitat.

I liked everything and have no complaints. The breakfast was amazing, and everyone was incredibly nice. The room had a/c, comfortable and clean beds, and a little screened in porch for our individual place. It was lovely, and I would stay there again.

I didn't like the construction trucks driving by all night long, but we were far back enough that it wasn't too bothersome, and that's not the fault of the owners, so I can't fault them for that.

Ecohabitat is the perfect place to stay if you want to visit the Calakmul site and surrounding nature reserve. Arranging a guide through Ecohabitat's owners was very easy and well-priced. The room and bathroom were clean and WiFi was surprisingly good for the area!

Not a negative just a note to others thinking of staying here - bring torches! You will need them for when you go in and out of the town of Xpujil in the evening, to alert drivers to your presence on the road

Very slightly outside of Xpujil, so you don't have the noise or pollution (mainly dust) problems that you have in town. You can still walk into town in about 10 minutes. The breakfast is EXCELLENT, and the owners are happy to assist with whatever questions or needs you have. AC works great, although it can be quite cool at night naturally.

The WiFi signal was weak at times, but cellular data is strong in the area so it didn't particularly bother us.

Very very very hospitable owners, came to pick us and dropped us at the ADO station (with pick up time after midnight, highly appreciated), found us a guide to the archaeological site we wanted to visit, great breakfast and even prepared lunch for us for the excursion to the site. Note that the area has no running water, so there is no water pressure and the water available is rain water.

Mosquito nets for beds would be useful, given the location.

Breakfast was delicious. The room was away from the highway. It was not noisy during sleeping hours. Perfect stop for Calakmul. The couple running the place were beyond great. Finding out it was my wife's birthday, they came down with flowers and guitar and sang the Mexican Happy Birthday Song. We were deeply moved.

Nothing not to like

It was our best stay at Mexiko so far! It’s located in the jungle and makes you feel like in a movie! The Ecohabitat is run by a lovely and very helpful family! The breakfast was very nice and done with much love! Definitely best coffee! If you’re looking for a place that is near to the Mayan ruins Calakmul - this is imho the best option! If we could change anything is the fact that we could have stayed longer than one night! Muchas gracias! 🙂

Stayed here on our way to Calakmul. Lovely, friendly people! Great place to stay, our cabin was super clean and cosy. Had really early and delicious breakfast with nice background music and a fab chat with Jorge. Vegetarian pack lunch to take with with us which was brilliant. Thanks Jorge and Elizabeth.

This place is run by son and his parents. They have limited rooms but those rooms are very comfortable. The cabin is far away from road so no longer have issue with noise of trucks.

Internet didn't work in cabin. If fixed would make a huge difference.
