Osaka Excel Hotel Tokyu

This hotel is in an exceedingly lovely area. A short 8 min walk to Shinsaibashi area, and to many of its shops and restaurants. It’s close to Midosuji subway, making it easy to get to places such as Namba or Umeda or Shin Osaka. The hotel is new and common areas are lovely. It has washing machines and microwaves. Downstairs there is Starbucks, 7/11 is nearby. If you have suitcases, take subway exit 18 which has a lift. You exit just near the 7/11.

The temperature was very hot in winter and aircon controls didn’t really help to keep it down. May be I should have turned on a cooler. Common areas were also really hot. Bigger problem is staff, third time we stayed there due to convenience and value, but the daily rate is climbing up yet the staff greetings and service remain poor. They’re cold and unwelcoming. Dirty coffee cup remained unwashed on two nights. Same with water glasses. That’s unacceptable.

Hotel location is convenient and is accessible to major attractions like Umeda, Osaka, Namba etc via the Midosuji line (red line), a major line in Osaka. Location is near Hommanchi station, walking distance to Shinsaibashisuji. Room is a good size in Japan’s standard and I can opened my 2 luggages and still have walking space. Rooms are clean and feels like it’s newly renovated. Counter staffs speaks English and are courteous to the guests. As this is Christmas season, you can see the illumination lighting up the trees and it’s a very pretty sight.

You can hear the motor bikes or cars revving thejr engine along the roads. It happens sometimes late into the night. I guess this is something the hotel can’t do about but otherwise all is good.

Spacious room, great view, comfortable bed, nice and clean toilets with bathtub and shower. Many power points and lighting controls. Most importantly was that the hotel accommodated to our last minute request to cancel one night due to an error in planning. Despite the late notice the hotel graciously agreed to refunding us the fee for the late cancellation. We are very grateful for this.

The bathroom vanity mirror didn't have any lights and to get to the hotel rooms required you to go to the reception area first before transferring to another lift lobby.

Location is walkable to Dotonbori, Namba, Glico signage area, several shopping opportunities and all amenities that a traveler would require are within walking distance. Close to subway system. The property has a coin laundry on the premises which allows a traveller to maximize their time efficiently. Hotel Cleaning staff were friendly and have instituted environmentally favorable cleaning practices. Breakfast buffet offers several items Japanese and Western options. This is my second stay at this hotel.

The property is located in the city centre. It is less than five minute walk to the subway station and approximately fifteen minute walk to Shinsaibashi. In addition, the room I stayed in was very clean and spacious for one person. No complaints whatsoever.

The reception was on the 16th floor and my room was on 12th floor. I had to go up to the 16th floor before I could go down to my room using another elevator. It was a little time consuming and it wasn’t really a big deal or a deal breaker for me.

The breakfast was amazing! It was my first time eating many different kinds of Japanese foods and they were all lovely! The staff was very friendly and easy to talk to! The language barrier is still there but the staffs are able to communicate English to an understandable standard. The self-service laundry was easy to use. The room was comfortable and provided a good amount of toiletries.

Since I am traveling and sightseeing, I always come back to the hotel late and sleep late too. I think breakfast should end around 10:30 am or 11 am. I think 9:30 am to finish the breakfast buffet is too quick because I feel like I was being forced to wake up too early after a long night of going to many places. Also, I wish a microwave room was provided on every floor. It was a big hassle that I had to go to a different floor just to heat up food and go back to my room.

Comfortable bed, option to have towels changed and bins emptied without full room clean, great shower and bath, lovely bathroom products, good location with lots of shopping and restaurants in easy reach. Close to metro.

A bit of an awkward layout with wet bathroom then tiny space next to bed where you could dry off and change. Having to go up to reception then back down to rooms was tedious. The check in machines were strange, staff operate them for you. Would make more sense just to use normal desk check on. Staff were a bit unfriendly and sometimes the lifts were really busy.

The location of the hotel is great with a station only minutes walk away and an easy walk to Dotonbori. We stayed when the winter illuminations were on and our view from our room was beautiful. The room itself was very spacious compared to previous hotels we stayed at on our trip! The bed was very comfy and room was clean. Nothing to fault, fabulous stay.

Clean and newly renovated rooms. Shower/bath room with excellent shower. Good breakfast in a relaxed environment. Close to Honmachi Station which has three train lines: Red line ShinOsaka to Namb, Green Chuo line to Osakako the Aquarium and the opposite direction to Nara, and Blue line. If you read and speak some Japanese, there are delicious restaurants with in Honmachi Station Semba shops.

The hot sink water was a small stream. Hotel bar closed at 9:30pm.

The rooms are bigger than most of the hotels in Japan. The hotel lobby looks comfortable and the views are great. It's only 5 minutes from Honmachi station, and 15 walk to Dotonbori.

The breakfast buffet is pretty much the same every day. It requires 2 different sets of lifts to reach the rooms. I do wish they cleaned the washing machines more often in the laundry room.
