Hotel Palazzo Piccolomini

Terrific staff, beautiful property with history, interesting corners and spacious rooms. A terrific breakfast with a wide range of foods available. Location couldn’t be better - adjacent to the top of the escalators from the parking area and about 3 minutes to the heart of old town, full of boutiques and restaurants. Historic sites and scenic areas every direction, Orvieto is a jewel.

The air conditioning didn’t work sufficiently to keep the room cool enough at night, we left the window open but then the noise in our room was very bad as it’s on a regularly used road and an echoing corner. Perhaps an internal room would be better, but dawn still assured an early wake up. Bed was very hard - slept on a layer of pillows which helped.

The hotel is centrally located and it was very easy to walk around Orvieto from it. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The waterfall shower was huge and very pleasant. It was great to have bathrobes and slippers and the two luggage stands were appreciated as we hate having to have a suitcase on the floor. Breakfast was fine but not exceptional and although not coeliac ourselves (our daughter is) it was nice to see a large selection of gluten-free options. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable.

My husband found the floor a bit dusty when he was in bare feet - I used the slippers provided and so did not find it a problem. A mirror in the bedroom would have been useful as the only mirror was located in the bathroom - not very helpful when your partner is in there and you want to dry your hair.

The location is perfect. Near some great restaurants and a short walk from all the attractions and main commercial street. The breakfast is really good, with a buffet style, eggs, cereal, yogurt and a variety of breads, cheeses, ham and sweet cakes. A beautiful historic building with ve ry clean rooms and common areas. Bathroom was recently redone Staff were excellent, mainly Jude, the manager, who always had a genuine interest for the guests. Professional, polite and friendly. Follow his suggestions for food and places to go for a drink.

The mattress was very soft for our taste.

We had a wonderful stay at the Palazzo. The hotel accommodations are first rate, very comfortable. The staff is present, welcoming, and helpful. I needed to be awake at 4:00 a.m. for work issues. The night person made me cappuccino both mornings. The location of the hotel is great. Two minutes to Piazza della Repubblica and Via del Corso and Via Duomo. We saw everything we wanted to see in Orvieto and also made a day trip to Civita di Bagnoregio.

We liked everything about this hotel.

The staff were amazing going the extra distance to make your stay a good one. Chiara’s exceptional customer service was noteworthy providing restaurant & winery recommendations, maps etc. checking in was a pleasure after driving on a hot day. thank you Chiara for making our stay a great one by offering your friendly advice, always greeting us with a cheerful Bongiorno and checking if we needed anything. 5 star customer service. Air conditioning in the rooms was poor especially with the 42C temperatures outside making it difficult for sleeping. we have stayed in other older properties elsewhere in Italy where the AC was acceptable. Breakfast was ok. the variety of fresh Fruits, meats and cheeses was very limited and there no hot options except scrambled eggs where the dish was mostly empty the times we were dining. in a positive note the barista was great offering friendly service and brewing amazing cappuccinos

Lovely staff, pretty room with a small terrace and large modern bathroom. Great breakfast with very fresh croissants and best cappuccino we found on our trip! The breakfast room was downstairs but in a historic vaulted cellar which made it special. Hotel Location was perfect for spending time in the historic center. Only issue was the room was a little warm at night and air conditioning could not be adjusted. Look and feel of the hotel is upscale.

It felt like a hotel with a nice lobby and an actual staffed front desk, unlike many of the the hotels we stayed at in Italy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was charming and very comfortable with a bonus room for our daughter. We were pleasantly surprised how good the breakfast was in the very interesting downstairs cellar. Orvieto has a series of underground caves and you could see into from the breakfast room. The street was very quiet.

Pillows were a bit flat. The bar was never open.

We have stayed at this hotel many times when ever we fly into Rome. Like always we had a wonderful night stay here!!! The staff are friendly & helpful. The breakfast is delicious with ample selections. The rooms are comfortable and air-conditioned!!! We had a triple room this time with a separate space for our daughter. They are welcoming to our dog as well. They will park your car for you and deliver it when you are ready to leave. Quite simply the best in Orvieto!!!

Staff were excellent. Location was walking distance to everything and yet quiet at night/mornings. Room was very spacious and clean. Breakfast was buffet style and offered plenty. Aircon worked well. Property is a historic building and well maintained.

Pillows and mattress were quite stiff, but that's just not my preference.

The hotel is not inside the ZTL so we could have gone there with the car with no problem There is some parking in the the hotel, and the stuff takes the car there an bring it when you need. Its close to all the attraction in the area

Breakfast could have more option The windows could get an upgrade so it would feel more secured
