The building is wonderful and historical, centrally located just off the Duomo square for seeing the Stassi. A huge plus for us was that the hotel hosts concerts in one of the many large rooms on the first floor, and they were free to us to attend. The staff was lovely, as were the owners who we had a chance to talk with. Breakfast was excellent, too.

This is a tiny thing: The shower/tub set up was a poor design choice. It’s one of those half doors, but the glass is not fixed, so it swings. I guess the idea is you can swing it to enter the shower. But a puddle was inevitable. They could use a vertical bar for safety, too.

Atmospheric, unbeatable location right behind the Duomo of Matera. Professionally run, family owned. Beautiful views from the top terrace and interesting paintings collection accessible to all guests. Welcoming and accommodating staff.

Breakfast was disappointing in its lack of variety and could use an upgrade.

The building and the location are stunning, so as the rooms some of which have a panoramic view over the Sassi. Very nice and friendly staff and a very good level of service overall. The hotel has its own parking which is a huge plus as you can forget your car for the duration of your stay here.

Devil is in the detail. Our room lacked a bit of care in the accessories. There was no kettle or coffee machine for the spontaneous coffee or tea; there only is a hook for one towel in the bathroom with the remainder of towels having to find a place in the small rack near the bathtub. It means used towels and fresh ones have to go on the same rack. Last but not least the breakfast is not on par with other 4* rated hotels. Choice is rather poor although the quality is generally very good.

What a strange and wonderful place! It was like a mystery that you had to unfold! Beautiful public rooms full of paintings and antiquities, a stunning roof deck, a charming breakfast room with a lovely breakfast. What a singular location with eerie cries of birds swirling above the property at dusk, a location seemingly on top of the world. The rooms were very comfortable, the staff was friendly and professional, and we couldn't have hoped for a better place from which to explore Matera!

This place is wonderful. Easy to find and central to everything. The breakfast is really good and what a spread! We were sad to have only spent 1 night. You will enjoy the terrace views and the breakfast room. Unfortunately, the bar on the terrace was closed but from there you will be able to see a spectacular view of Matera. Highly recommended.

This is a fantastic Palazzo occupying the top of the old town in Matera, steeped in history but sympathetically updated to provide modern comforts. The views over Matera Sassi are incredible. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating - including opening the parking gates at 4:30am so we could get to our balloon ride.

Unfortunately we stayed during the heatwave so the terrace was (understandably) not in use.

this is one in a lifetime opportunity to live in a true Palazzo! the Building is beautifully restored and all modern ammenities are present. Rooms are grand and stylish, beds very comfortable, everything sparkling clean. The staff was very accommodating and nice throughout the stay. It is situated right in the heart of Matera. We were amazed by the grandeur of the building, it feels it is a museum, everywhere there are artworks, the walk to the breakfast room (which by the way was superb) makes you feel like royalty. Truly an amazing experience and I will wholeheartedly recommend this place and the lovely staff!

nothing, everything was beyond expectations

Matera is a uniquely beautiful city and this hotel is equally unique and beautiful. It has gorgeous views not only from the roof terrace, but from many windows. We rented 3 rooms, all spacious, nicely furnished with comfortable beds. Covid protocol was well followed. Breakfast was served ( you could order anything you wanted) in a huge, palatial room, tables (very nicely set) were far apart from each other. To get to the breakfast room you had to go through several rooms with interesting furniture, paintings and stunning view of Matera from their windows. Staff was friendly, helpful, professional. They parked our car in the courtyard. Since the hotel is very well located, we didn't need the car and explored the town on foot. It was a memorable stay. We saw glimpse of it again in the opening scene of the last James Bond movie, No Time to Die.

We liked everything.

An absolute beautiful space in an old, very well kept palazzio in the midle of old town. The location is perfect, and the place is so endlessly beautiful, and the roof top where breakfast is served provides you one of the best 360 views of the city. Don’t miss out on their private gallery!

We loved everything about the place.

The magnificent building, so lovingly restored by the owners. Breakfast served in the beautifully decorated piano nobile apartments on the first floor. Superb location at the highest point of the town, with terrace and rooms offering amazing views of Matera and the Sassi. Loved every minute. With covid restrictions causing 90% cancellations over Christmas, we practically had the hotel (and Matera) to ourselves, which only added to the unique experience.

As the hotel is located deep in the old town it was tricky driving in and out through the pedestrian precinct but this was not a big issue and everyone was exceptionally helpful..
