Hotel & Spa Bellavista Francischiello

So, we thought when booking it looked like a nice hotel, we were slightly concerned it may be too remote, being out of Sorrento. We couldn't have been more wrong. It was a gorgeous hotel, and the bus to Sorrento leaves and arrives just outside the door. So, don't get a taxi (which cost €30+ for less than 3 kms). The room was beautiful with a lovely balcony looking at Capri. Get up early to see the easterly light over the rocks. Oh, and a good sunset over Ischia too! Lovely bathroom, and good servicing. The restaurant was great, enjoyed breakfast and a lunch and two dinners there. Why would you go anywhere else! Staff were exceptional, always friendly and helpful. Thank you so much. MOST IMPORTANT: Soc Coop Marina della Lobra is a local ferry company that does trips to Amalfi/Positano and to Capri. They leave from a wee port at Massa Lubrense, but will pick you up at the hotel. Pick up a brochure at reception. You don't need any longer at Amalfi, Positano or Capri than their tours give you, it's a smaller boat, just 50ish people, great friendly staff, feels like a family-run business, not a chain or corporation. Boat was so clean and well presented, and they really had a lovely personal touch. Highly recommend. Oh did I mention the beautiful pool on the roof? Even beginning of May it was beautiful with the expansive view over bay of Naples. Why would you stay anywhere else.

I really can't think. It's good value, comfortable, friendly, convenient. What's not to like!

Really lovely (retro'ish) hotel; wonderful, friendly staff from the moment we arrived; perfectly situated 10 minutes out of town (you'd want to be out of town as the thousands of tourists that pour into Sorrento every day and night must make it difficult to get a good night's sleep!): the bus stop is right outside the front door so very easy to get to town and back and at Eur1.30 each, an absolute bargain; the room was spotlessly clean; nice size; airy; air-conditioned with stunning views over to Capri. The swimming pool on the 4th floor (also with breath-taking views over sea to Capri....wow!..was really lovely, and they served lunch every day and there's a bar up there too (all which over-looked Capri in the distance) which opened until everyone had left to get ready for dinner. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean. The restaurant was fantastic and served fresh fish every evening and had great wines and desserts. It was so good, we ate there every evening rather than take a gamble on tourist traps in town and it was absolutely delicious every evening. I read another review on here that said, don't worry about going into town for food, just stay at the hotel as the food was superb...in fact maybe go and see Sorrento once (that is all we needed, it is soooo touristy) and then spend the rest of your time at the hotel by the pool relaxing immersed in the views across the sea to Capri, watching the boats race there in the morning and racing home in the afternoon! It is a really lovely hotel and we cannot wait to go back September!

This boutique hotel is a gem, with STUNNING views of Capri right outside your balcony door! Massa Lubrense is located a quick 15-min bus ride south of Sorrento, but there's not really a "town" there, per se. Luckily, the bus for Sorrento stops right outside the front door and it’s only 1,80€ to ride, which was amazing! Only downside was the cost for a taxi from Sorrento if you stay out past when the bus stops running - is about 40€ one way! The staff is phenomenal, especially at the front desk. The rooms are cute with amazing views, and have the best A/C in Europe, I swear. The rooftop pool was fabulous, complete with a bar that serves until early evening! The restaurant on site is also wonderful, which was a delight for two weary travelers looking for some good food just downstairs.

Shower is TEENY, not sure how a larger person would fit! It was tough being two 6' tall Americans. That was the only thing we didn't love about our room. Another weird thing to mention, you had to rent pool towels, which seemed like a weird thing to not provide for guests? Also, the towels smelled terrible (like rank body odor) so we ended up buying our own in town and using those instead.

The Hotel is perfect. The bed was very comfortable and the view from our room was breathtaking. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. The breakfasts are great and the Restaurant provides very high quality food at very reasonable prices. They also do lunch on the roof by the pool and again the attention to detail and the quality of the food is superb. The pool on the roof offers a very comfortable place to sunbath, with a lovely pool and far reaching views of Capri and the bay. An added bonus is the indoor pool area where there is a gym, sauna and heated pool which is great if the weather is not so good. I must also recommend the Spa treatments which were fantastic. Giavanna is very good at what she does and with the help of Giavanna on reception ( my Italian is not very good) she tailor made me an exceptional facial and massage which was both relaxing and therapeutic. The hotel and its staff provide a perfect package which affords you the most relaxing holiday experience. There is also parking or if you prefer, as we did, the hotel staff can organise a transfer to the airport which was great.

There was nothing not to like our trip was lovely.

Room was clean and bright and the view from our balcony was spectacular , staff were fantastic , owner was attentive and always available , Restaurant food and drink was first class and came at a very good price , bus stopped in front of hotel so getting to downtown Sorrento and back was a breeze. The pool area was brilliant as were the pool staff.

Better Wi-Fi in the room would have been helpful.

The hotel is located in a perfect area. Away from the busy towns and with a beautiful view to the sea and capri island. You can enjoy this view from breakfast, room, swimming pool and dinner. Breakfast is great, with variety and quality. Restaurant for dinner is also very good. Pool area to enjoy some drinks and sunset is perfect. There is also a little spa, with 2 saunas and whirlpool, which was perfect to relax after long days exploring amalfi coast.

My only recommendation would be to allow to regulate the AC. There was a regulator but it was not working, it was either on and super cold or off. Also would recommend to leave some complementary water. We arrived super late and had to use the water from mini bar.

What a lovely hotel if you want to be able to easily get into Sorrento but don't want to encounter the crowds all the time. There is a bus which stops right outside and its about 15 mins. They're every 20 mins or so and run quite late, perfect for a meal in town if you choose. We didn't in the end - we were exploring the south before moving on to Tuscany for quite a big wedding, so we were happy to relax in between tours. Staff all great, very friendly. Shout out to Giovanna on reception who sorted out all our tours, recommend you do this as you then get hotel pick up with no hassle. We booked a junior suite which was light, bright, electric shutters, massive bed and a superb huge balcony complete with sun loungers and an amazing view of Capri. Theres a pool with ample sunbeds, towels provided, a spa and pool bar for drinks/lunch. Views from here are awesome. Massa Lubrense itself is quite sprawling. We ate in the hotel restaurant a few nights and the food was lovely. Breakfast was excellent, great choices. There is a central square about 20 mins walk away (no footpaths) this has a little Conad, Tabbachia and an ATM. It also has a restaurant Il Cantuccio which is fab and we went there twice. They offer a gratis collect and drop, although you can get the bus from the square back to the hotel easily - ask the hotel to book and arrange if you don't want to walk there. Altogether this fabulous hotel in a quieter location was just right for us.

The junior suites are quite a walk with steps up/down- ok normally, just tricky lugging suitcases on exit. The pool bar doesn't have its own catering facility. If you need food, it's provided by the restaurant and brought up. For this, each dish is a few euros higher. I would have preferred maybe a sandwich or toastie as I don't eat lots for lunch. The pool bar on an evening was a lovely place to go and relax after dinner. The choice of music on occasion I found inappropriate unless you're fond of a thumping bass beat.

We had a wonderful time at Hotel Bellavista Francischiello. The staff were so friendly and helpful at all times. Thanks to Giovanna who booked our trip to Capri and gave us great tips on what to see and do nearby (always with a smile). The rooms are beautifully decorated and a good size, plus cleaned every day. The food in the restaurant is excellent and the menu is extensive. Breakfast buffet is wonderful also with a great choice available. The views from the hotel are stunning, especially from the pool area on the top floor, which is a great place to chill out on trip-free days.

Very loud from the noisy mopeds!!

We have various feelings about this place. We have booked this hotel as it offers indoor swimming pool and saunas, but these facilities did not reached our expectations, on the other hand, we had one warm day so we could spend some time at the pool which is located on the roof and it was absolutely great time with beautiful views. Staff very friendly, one of the day they even gave us a lift to Sorrento town centre, another day they gave an advices about the places we could visit and because of them we have found about the lath of the gods hike which was one of the best things we have done at this trip. Breakfast good, variety of the food was large. Location great for the views.

Network connection in our room was very poor, so if you do distance work e.t.c keep it mind (we believe it depends of the room you get and how far router is located). Location great for the views, but the only good way to get to town centre e.t.c by bus or taxi, walking 30 minutes on the road where is no paths for pedestrians was not an option (on the other hand buses goes frequently). Indoor sauna was not working, and turkish sauna were very smelly and dark, so this was major disappintment.

Beautiful property with amazing views of Capri and surrounding islands. The property is gorgeous, tasteful Italian decorations, flowers and vegetation everywhere. Restaurant and food were delicious! Loved the spa and rooftop pools. Right on the bus line! Molto Grazie to Mr. Francischiello for coming to our rescue to drive us to the rail station during the inclement weather and transportation strike!

Pro and con was the distance from the main part of Sorrento. Pro was it was quiet, peaceful and very close to Massa Lubrense but con was, we weren’t in the heart of things. As with most things in Italy, you have to be very flexible and patient with transportation, timeliness (or lack thereof), weather, and just go with the flow and celebrate in the beauty and hospitality of Italia!
