Hotel Nuovo Nord

It was in a very good location for the Genoa Principe station, being only a short walk away. Our room was very comfortable, but quite small and had a problem with the window, being at the front of the hotel over the street meant it was very noisy overnight. The staff tried to mend the window the next day but couldn't fix it without a window technician, who wasn't available until the following day. Luckily they had another room of the same standard which was bigger and at the back of the hotel which I think would be quieter if you need a quiet room. Breakfast was a very good cold buffet with pastries, bread, meat and cheese, cakes, cereal and yogurt. Some fruit. They had a nice reading lounge area. Staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English. Baggage storage area is also available. It was walking distance to the heart of the old town and port.

The shower cubicle is a bit of a squeeze and we aren't overly large.

Very comfortable room, very comfortable bed. Lovely big window overlooking via Balbi. Mini refrigerator was convenient. The location is very close to the train station, and is a flat walk with no stairs, so it is easy to transport luggage. The Palazzo Reale is a short walk on the same street. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, and 2 supermarkets within a 5-10 minute walk. It is possible to walk to the Strada Nuova palaces on Via Garibaldi and to the seafront / Galata Museo del Mare. Most of the hotel rooms are on the first floor of the building, with only 1 flight of stairs to climb. There are a few rooms on the second floor (with another flight of stairs to climb).

There is nothing I would change, given the price charged for the room.

All staff spoke good English, and that made our stay easy. The hotel was close to the station and easy to find. The road was well lit, and safe to go out night time

The actual room can be so different fro the photos. We booked a standard double room but received “free upgrade” to a large unit with 2 double bed. we were perplexed if it was upgrade or downgraded. the room was so dark and with only one window facing back alley. Sometimes people on the bridge can look into our room. We had to close sheer curtain and use lights all day. We found the same room on booking.com site. I have no idea how many spot lights were used to make it look so bright. the reality is far from it. Despite the difference, we kept the room for 3 nights because it was quiet and we slept well. The darkness was not too serious for us, but people should be warned

The hotel is 5 minutes away from Piazza Principe Railway Station and very close to the cruise port. The hotel has the atmosphere of an art gallery, the staff is friendly, the rooms have all the facilities. Genoa is a fantastic town and it's worth visiting it - there are plenty of sights you shouldn't miss .

I like Genoa and the hotel- it's not my my first visit and soon I'll be there again. I am a great fan of the opera but I have never had the opportunity to enjoy an opera in Carlo Felici Opera House. I dream to enjoy a performance there !

Friendly, welcoming staff...both in reception and the breakfast room. Very close to Piazza Principe train station (with connections to the airport) and the direct airport bus (Volabus). For sightseeing the Hop on/Hop off bus also stops at the station. The reception is very modern, light and welcoming. The rooms are large with fridge, kettle, selection of teas and coffee, which is a great addition to the room. The bathrooms are very modern in design with nice big towels. The rooms, like the rest of the hotel, are spotlessly clean. There is aircon/heating as well as windows that open wide. The bed is comfortable with extra pillows and blankets available. The breakfast (optional and costs €8)is a large buffet with an excellent choice of food and drinks. I thought it was very good value for money. There are plenty of places to eat and drink around the hotel as well as a few small mini-markets. There is a larger Carrefour about 10 mins max from the hotel. It's easy to walk down to the waterfront from here as well as to Piazza Ferrari in the very centre. An excellent place to stay and I will definitely stay again.

My room faced the main road...and I'm an ultra light sleeper, so I had to use ear plugs...but the windows in the room are double glazed, which cuts out a lot of noise, so I don't think most people will find it an issue.

Great location. Easy access to the train station and the port. Very good restaurants in the area, safe and calm. Stayed in Genoa the day before we started our cruise and would definitely stay another time. Room a little bit outdated but bed very comfortable and clean.

Old carpet and furniture. No lift. No good when you have back problems 😞

+ location was great, just few steps from the train station Genova Piazza Principe + they gave us free upgrade to superior room which was little bigger than comfort + bed and bed matress were just great, so comfy + staff at the reception were really nice and helpfull

- really poor airconditioning :( seems that it didn´t work as we had always 28C in the room (even fan would be better) - really loudy street (expecially during the weekend, there is a hostel oposite and people were yelling there unti 4 am :( If the AC works properly, you don´t have to have opened window and would sleep well - even it seems renovated you can smell old carpet when entering into the room:( - shower... so small and no hand shower, so your hair and head always get wet (unless you use a haircap :/ I rather skip the bidet to have bigger shower or at least "handy" shower

Excellent location, three minutes walk from the main rail station and ten minutes to the port. very friendly and helpful receptionist on arrival, and breakfast staff likewise. Room was perfectly sufficient in size & amenities.

Only two drawbacks were the noisy alleyway behind, we were awakened with the noise of what sounded like bin emptying - very loud at 0630, and the lack of elevator if you have heavy luggage (which was advised in advance, to the hotels credit).

Location!! 5 minutes from the main train station and close to everything. The building is adorable and the bed was comfortable. Higher shower head and clean bathroom. Wi-Fi is fast and water gets hot. Excellent for a quick stay or for people who are gone exploring all day (like us) and need a comfortable place to sleep and shower.

Rooms is small. We like that, but it may be an issue for others.

Location next to the Genova Piazza Principe station is just perfect, because we used trains very often. Stuff was very nice, welcoming and helping. Fast wifi, good breakfast, especially croisants. Thank you for very nice time spent in Genova.

Windows could not be closed properly so there was some noise because of traffic and loud people on a street. AC was loud at night even if shut down.
